Over Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs

• Hot tub
"Shabby Understaffed Hotel - Great Location"
The entire hotel was worn and very outdated. The pool area ran out of towels, and many lounges were still available. Music was loud enough by the pool, and they had a live DJ for part of the day, which one would expect. The pool closed at 6, along with the poolside bar. No poolside cocktails before dinner, I'm afraid! Room was clean, but furniture looked about 10 years old and like it had been partied on hard. I was expecting edgy rocker cool, and it was washed-up has-been lame. The people were nice enough, but not out of the ordinary. It was kind of expensive, and you did not get what you paid for. Breakfast was very good, but not part of your stay. Location can't be beat for being right in the heart of Palm Springs. Main drag is across the street and through a courtyard (Paseo, down here).
"Stopped in for a Drink"
It was fairly early, maybe 9pm, and we decided to stop in the lobby bar for a drink with friends. We were about the only ones in the lobby at the time. I used the restroom while I had my hubby get me a house wine at the bar. He returned with a clear plastic solo cup. Need I say more?
"Pool Bar was amazing!!"
Our bartender Abram was spectacular! I highly recommend the Raspberry Mojito!! You won’t be disappointed! I also had a Long Island Iced Tea and Abram made it perfect, also! The pool atmosphere on a Thursday afternoon was great.
"Buyer Beware "
I really don’t know how this place stays in business. When I arrived, the valet was super nice, but once I got to my room, there was no coffee, no coffee maker, and a burned out light. It took an hour to get a coffee maker brought to my room, and the light bulb was never replaced, despite a second call to the front desk. The next morning, I left for the work day, but when I returned at about 5:30pm, my room had not been cleaned. I called to ask for cleaning service before departing for dinner, and was assured it would be taken care of—five hours later I returned to a dirty room. The hotel charges a $30 per day “resort fee,†but I have yet to figure out what about this place they consider resort like. The furnishings are shabby, the place needs a complete upgrade, and the hallway carpets are musty smelling and wet in certain spots. In addition, they want $25 per day for a TINY refrigerator that barely fits a couple bottles of water and a couple of small snacks. There is a mini bar but if you move or touch anything for more than 15 seconds, you’ll be charged a hefty fee, so don’t even think about using that to store any of your own items! I have stayed in many, many hotels, but never have I paid this much per night to stay in a hotel with such low standards. A complete disappointment. Steer clear.
"Not what is appears"
The front of the hotel looks wonderful, but that ends when you walk in the lobby. The lobby looks old and worn, and in need of attention. The rooms are even worse. The wallpaper is supposed to look like vinyl, but it is peeling off the walls. Several of the electrical wall sockets were not in working order, which usually means water damage/seepage in the walls. The rooms are dark and not inviting. The second day our air conditioning stopped working. We reported it in the morning, by late afternoon, no one still had looked at it. The service was terrible. I would not go back! It looks better on line than in person.
