Over Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs

"Great weekend getaway"
My Family and I had the pleasure of staying at the hard rock and it was a great stay. The vibe was fun with live music on Friday and Saturday. There was another function taking place and it all was handled well. Front desk was friendly and my room was very clean. The bed was super comfortable. Will definitely be coming back! Also there is a club there and that is something I plan to try out next time we come.
The Hard Rock staff is very friendly and helpful. Awesome vibe and the decor throughout the hotel and rooms is pretty cool. The are big, clean and very nice..., along with the bathrooms. I enjoyed hanging out in the balcony, relaxing. The hotel is walking distance from great restaurants and shopping.
"Callous Management who should run prisons instead of a hotel."
I was visiting the US from the US with my 5 year old over Christmas. We booked a prepaid room at the HR as we need a place to stay while we were travelling from LA/Disney to Phoenix (where my family lives). On the day we were supposed to check into the Hard Rock, I lost my wallet at Disneyland. Thankfully I had our passports and a small amount of cash in the car but had no credit cards or other ID. We left Disney late in the evening and were due to arrive in Palm Springs around midnight. I called the hotel en route to explain the situation in order to avoid any delays with my sleeping son. I was told that I couldn't check in without a credit card. I offered to use some of my limited cash as a deposit and to have a walkthrough before we left but was told there was no exception to the policy. I asked to speak to a manager and was told it was too late in the evening. I then asked if I would receive a refund since they wouldn't allow me to check in and was told to speak to a manager the next morning! Finally, I asked again if they were really going to turn away a client with a prepaid reservation and a sleeping child in the middle of the night under the circumstances and was told yes. I get the hotel has to protect itself from large groups there to party over a weekend but what kind of damage could a 5 year old and his exhausted father (who was willing to prepay a reasonable amount for incidentals in cash) do in 7 hours!? I couldn't believe how callous a customer service organization could be given the circumstances. In the end I pulled over and found a random credit card in my travel wallet that was not activated but was still valid. After some calls to my UK bank I was able to activate the card and used it to check in. I called back the night check in agent and told him he would be embarrassed when he saw a single dad carrying a sleeping child in his arms in about 30 minutes. We checked in and left before a manager was available to discuss the "service" we experienced and the hotel's intransigence. I got back to London and emailed the manager but, not surprisingly, never got a response. I reached out to the travel agent who booked the room and they got a reply but no apology or acknowledgment that policies should have an exception for extenuating circumstances. It is no surprise that this hotel gets so many bad reviews as they clearly don't care about their customers and must be struggling. I think management and the ownership should be responsible for running prisons instead of hotels.
"Great hotel in the heart of PS "
We stayed there December 26-28. The location is great, walking distance to all the restaurants and DT Palm Springs. The rooms are very spacious, nice and clean with comfortable bed. The pool is really small so I'd assume it'll be very crowded during warmer months. We also booked a massage session at the hotels Spa, kind of over priced for the service we got. Overall great hotel to stay at when visiting PS.
"Style - 5 / Substance - 0"
It's a cool hotel with nice decor. That's it. When it comes to anything else, forget it. They charge you a "resort fee" that may or may not be disclosed upon reservation and it's exorbitant. It's supposed to cover free wifi, except that you can't actually use it because there's not enough bandwidth to cover that many users. The service was lackluster - I called the desk about issues in my room. Promises were many, results were few (none). I wouldn't return.
