Over Bahia Resort Hotel

I think one's experience of this hotel depends greatly on what type of room you stayed in. We stayed in the staggered, single story rooms along the beach - the patio facing the paddle boats. Rooms has very recently been refurbished and were very nice. Love taking the Paddle boat to the sister resort and spending some time down at that end of town,
"Sea View in Bed!"
The hotel is located in Mission Bay, and the sandy beach was just OUTSIDE of our room, really cool and fantastic! We were able to park our rental car just outside of our room, a very big advantage to upload the suitcases. We really had a great time there, since we lived very far away from the sea. The sea view from the bed is unforgettable! The room was better than what I expected. We also enjoyed the outdoor swimming pool, and were also able to find the spot to watch the sunset. The hotel is very close to the Sea World, where we also spent the whole day during our stay. Walking distance to the shops and food stores (and to the Belmont park) was a little plus, too. Everything was just SUPER!
"Nice location and facilities - dated rooms."
We stayed at the Bahia in October and enjoyed our stay. However, the room had a very musty smell that we were never able to get rid of (turned on fans, bought febreeze, opened the door). The back door of the bayside units open up to a public access road where many people have beach parties and some sleep/fish overnight. We weren't thrilled about that. It's nice to have the gated area, but felt a little weird looking out our 1st floor patio door to someone sleeping in their vehicle. The staff is extremely nice and we used the on-site "store" a few times for red bull, snacks, etc. They have a couple rescue (blind) sea lions on site which were really fun to watch! We didn't use the pool, but did walk in there and thought it was cool it was 10 ft deep. We LOVED the paths/walkways all over with ducks, little ponds, bridges and beautiful vegetation. We also LOVED the cabanas on the beach and watched the sunset many times. It was also very convenient (about 2 blocks) from the coast, so we were able to walk there daily. Again, the premises really felt VERY luxurious. We just thought the rooms were pretty dated and smelly. Tip: We were able to arrange a bonfire on the beach right outside the hotel through a local company. It was a lot of fun!
"Great mix of food + relaxing atmosphere + location"
We stayed at the Bahia last week, and we tried everything, so I'll try and be brief. First - The hotel grounds are well kept, clean, and relaxing. Parts of the hotel are showing their age, however all in all it's a nice place to stay and relax. The suite rooms are large enough, and somewhat modern and clean. There was no heat or AC in the sleeping room part of the suite we stayed in, however the white noise of the heater on all night did a good job of mitigating the noise from parties in other rooms. The beds were clean and comfortable, but small. Room Service - The room service had very good quality food at reasonable room service prices. They beat their 35 minute estimated delivery time by a full five minutes. Food and coffee was terrific. Dining - This resort and it's two sister properties have really stepped up their dining experience. The food was surprisingly good, great even, and we also dined at the sister property next door (Catamaran) and had another terrific meal there. The breakfast menu choices are delicious, and they have a good value Breakfast Buffet that we all enjoyed that was quick, and hot with a good selection. Staff - We met several members of the staff, from maintenance, security, front desk, rentals, and housekeeping. To a person they were friendly and professional and helpful. Amenities - Terrific. We did not get a chance to try the tennis court, however we did rent bikes, and they have a very pleasant boardwalk and beach path to ride along and the location is perfect. They also rent boats and watercraft. There is also a Fishing Charter rental located about five minutes away that we have used in the past, and they are exceptional. Location - Three minute drive to Sea World, Fifteen Minutes to Old Town, Twenty to the Zoo. Great Location. Property has private inland beach, ocean waves are a three minute bike ride or six minute walk. Terrific dining and a kid's theme park at the beach with a roller coaster, zip line, wall climb, etc at the beach. Plenty of shopping too.
"Relaxing and beautiful"
So much for a young family to love. Beach right outside door, plenty of space to play, run, and laugh. Comfortable beds, a restaurant on the property, and super close to Amy attractions. The property has lush gardens, wind protected pool, and rentals for bay water fun. We rented bikes to ride to Pacific beach too.
