"A Nice Hang Out if you are visiting San Francico"
This Sheraton has a nice, "modern" feel. The lobby was relatively compact. It did have a bar/snack bar but we found the prices, especially for drinks, rather expensive. You couldn't beat the location here, right in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf. One striking feature was that the lobbby area had outdoor patios, equipped with gas fireplaces, where you could enjoy a drink and take advantage of the city's ambiance without freezing to death. Our room was nicely furnished, quite similarly to other Starwood Properties. It did not come with internet service, unless you paid extra for it. There supposedly was a buffet. Breakfast, which we did not see, but that was extra as will. This is a nice, modern and secure place to stay if you are a business traveler or tourist visiting the City.
"Rooms needs updating "
The stay was alright. The room decor was outdated and needs to be updated. Disappointed with checkout; there was only two people working and one of the clerk was dealing with a guest with her tour/travel excursion (she arranged through the hotel?), so there was really only one person helping with checkout (there were at least 6 people waiting). Parking is super expensive but the location was great!
"Wanted to enjoy it more..."
Unfortunately, i feel like i need to give this hotel an average score. I'm a tour operator and i usually sell this hotel 9/10 times when someone wants to visit SFO - this has changed. The check-in/out staff were friendly and managed to assign 2 out of 3 rooms earlier than normal check-in. The room was clean, spacious and airy, decorated minimally and modern. The bathroom did look like there was lots of black marks on the wall, but this was actually part of the design. The fire pits outside was lovely and warm, a complete bonus when you go in February. The location is perfect for Fisherman's Wharf. I ordered breakfast on Valentines day and it was totally abysmal. The poached eggs still had lots of water in the ramekin, the bacon crumbled into bits and the potato thing they provided was still raw, with no seasoning at all - the whole thing looked so sad. They don't provide free wifi, or a fridge and microwave. The internet costs $17+ a day (includes the tax) to which i think in this day and age, is a joke. People like to relax in their room after a day/night being out and contacting people, uploading pictures of what they were doing - this is a given! I am aware if you book direct and join their hotel club/scheme you get wifi - i realise this is an incentive to book direct, but as a TO my clients wouldn't have this provided. The only things that are making me score the hotel average is the lack of fridge, microwave, free wifi, and awful breakfast.
"Clean facilities and very helpful staff"
I stayed at the Sheraton for 3 nights and the staff was very helpful in helping me figure out tours, where to eat, places to visit, etc. Although the weather was quite cold the pool was pretty cool (had the resort feel to it). The hotel rooms were very clean and had a very funky modern design which was quite different from any other hotel I have ever stayed at (in a good way). Highly recommend this hotel and very close to Pier 39 where a lot of the action is. The nearby pier is also where many boat tours take off.
"56 Dollars to park. 15 dollars for wifi. 24 dollars for breakfast."
Lots of homeless people surround the hotel at night and the smell of weed is rife. The extra charges are abhorrent, the hotel is running a side business charging 56 dollars per car per night to park your car, as well as many other hidden charges. The location is good for the Wharf, but a ten minute Uber to the bridge. The staff were indifferent when I complained about the parking charge, but helpful about other things. The room was nice but not very quiet.
