Nice hotel in a great location, the staff were all helpful and friendly. The room we had was large and clean with a view of the Calgary tower, there's a pool and gym, the lounge and restaurant were also very good, We would stay here again.
We had to change rooms as our first room had lost the seal in the windows - so it was very noisy and had a cold draft. The room was fine, and a good sized bathroom with plenty of counter space. Parking in underground and very dusty, but convenient. We had dinner in the hotel lounge - the food was super and so was the service. They served lovely warm crisps with the drinks. Staff all very friendly. Hotel was a bit tired.
"Good Hotel in a Good Location Makes for a Very Good Hotel"
I liked this hotel, but little things made it difficult to love. The location downtown is good, but it's located in the office area of downtown Calgary, so restaurants, while close, as still a bit more of a walk (or at least the ones I'd want to go to) which is fine. The hotel was built probably in the 80s, and has been recently refurbished, so you get the nice sizes of the rooms, and the modern clean decor and furnishings. What doesn't work particularly well is the complete lack of power points for today's modern business travellers, so we spent sometime drawing on our hands and knees to get to power points -- some of which were already a bit tight with hotel supplied equipment -- which were power strips on the floor. The power point on the desk didn't work which is pretty typical. We were fortunate enough to have access to the lounge, where they had a (paid) bar, and snacks and complimentary non-alcoholic beverages. Breakfasts were good, and a nice start to the day. Staff is friendly, and very helpful. Beds are comfortable, and the shower is great. So what keeps this from being excellent? It's those little things, like not very accommodating entrances from the garage if you have luggage, and it being difficult to bring the car up and park to load when checking out. It's the power points on the floor, and the location just being a little bit out of the way. Calgary has become a very competitive marketplace for the hotel industry, and this is reflected in pricing, so compared to the other premium brands in the market, it's a very good deal for a hotel that is very accommodating.
"Great Base while Visiting Downtown"
My husband and I stayed here for two nights in March 2017 as we had an event at the Scotiabank Saddledome to attend. This hotel was a good value and within walking distance to the venue and to a nearby C-Train station. Upon check-in we were offered an upgrade to a nicer room on a higher floor if we chose to purchase the breakfast package ($20/day.. I think per person..) although the deal sounded alright, we really wanted to check out restaurants in the downtown core so chose against it. Our room on the 6th floor was still pretty nice. The rooms are updated and clean, but not overly fancy. The view wasn't too bad either, considering we were on a lower floor. We had a good view of the Calgary Tower. This hotel was close to restaurants and the venue, which was the main benefit. It was also a pretty short drive to Chinook centre for some shopping. Parking wasn't terribly expensive when compared to other hotels downtown. Because of this we opted for valet which was a good service. We didn't have an opportunity to check out many of the amenities such as the pool or restaurant/bar area. All-in-all, this hotel was a great place to get situated when sight-seeing and was clean and comfortable; although, If we had planned to stay at the hotel more during our stay, we may have opted for an upgraded room.
was here for a 2 night stay , great room, reasonable rate, wonderful lounge with superb food, easy walk , in lobby welcome water and cookies , starbucks on site for my coffee addiction, self park only 10.00
