"The renovations have started to this Kananaskis Country landmark hotel"

We love this Lodge with its spectacular location and great amenities. When the renovations are done in 2018 the resort will not be as dated as it currently is. On our recent visit, we experience the last of the un-renovated rooms (still clean and functional), and got to take a peak at a newly renovated one. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. The best amenity here is the large indoor swimming pool, and the sizeable hot tub which is an all year indoor / outdoor pool. Of course, the hotel has all the features you would expect from a luxury resort and conference centre - restaurants, bars and a full service Spa.

"Beautiful location"

My husband & I enjoyed a one night stay in this beautifully located hotel. The property "Kananaskis Village" consists of the John Palliser Manor, Mount Kidd Manor & the main Delta Lodge at Kananaskis. The properties are accessible via a quick walk outside or we were told by walking through the underground parkade. Reading previous reviews on TA, we were happy to be in the main lodge as our room was completely renovated (so newly renovated it had a strong new carpet/paint smell but opening the window for a while seemed to help). Our main floor room had a nice view of the forest, very comfortable king bed, large flat screen tv,& a full set of toiletries. While there was a Keurig machine with Starbucks coffee, we missed having a mini fridge & in room safe. These two items are a huge miss for us. There was a table to use but oddly, only one chair to sit on. When we called the front desk they quickly brought us a "banquet" chair so we could at least both sit at the table. We enjoyed the property & took advantage of the Village Rim Trail, which was very well maintained for walking. The property also has fat bike & cross country ski rentals. You can also enjoy ice skating on the pond & the hockey rink. In the summer there is tennis, basketball, a sportsfield, kids playground, picnic tables & an abundance of hiking trails (beware of bears!). While we didn't take in the spa (unfortunately they don't offer couples massages & single massages were pricey at $132 for 1 hr relaxation & $144 for deep tissue), we did enjoy the indoor/outdoor hot tub. There is also a dry sauna (outside access only), indoor pool (way too cold to use) & a steam room. The gym looked like it was furnished with new equipment as well. We had reservations at the Forte restaurant for dinner Friday night but once we were seated we realized it wasn't the place for us. It has a cafeteria feel/set up & for the prices of the meals we didn't feel it was worth staying. It's really a family restaurant (loud) with uncomfortable chairs & wobbly tables. We decided to check out Woody's Pub (no minors allowed & located in the Mount Kidd Manor) & were delightfully surprised with our meals. The Caesar salad was delicious & the fish and chips special ($10) was excellent. We enjoyed a hockey game & a couple of beers each for a total of $58.00. There is also Seasons Restaurant which we were told is high end & a la carte meals start at $42. There is another lounge in the main lodge (Big Horn Lounge) as well as Market Cafe for lighter fare. Our lunch of a cup of soup & slice of pizza was really tasty & provided good fuel prior to our walk. Parking outside is free & they offer underground for $5.00 per night. There is a shuttle to & from the ski hill Nakiska. We saw alot of guests with their dogs & quite a few families with young children. The main lobby is beautiful, with a huge wood burning fireplace & comfy couches & chairs. Certain facilities on the property are really showing their age (the hot tub, steam room, Mount Kidd Manor) & renovations are being completed over time. The staff were friendly & being surrounded by the beautiful Rocky Mountains really make this property's location spectacular. Being only a 1 hour drive from Calgary, we would consider returning to this property in the future.

"Stunning Location!"

This property is located in one of the most picturesque places in the world. The property is cozy, comfortable and welcoming. The pool area is terrific except of the outdoor Sauna and hot tub, both of which are work down and not hot - they really need to fix or replace these important facilities as they would otherwise have delivered a 5 star rating.

"Long time visiter, new disappointment"

We have been going to the Delta Kananaskis twice yearly for the last 5 years, joining other family members that have been coming to the Delta for a few days over New Years Eve for 27 YEARS! So disappointed in the stay this time. I don't know if it is because of the transition to Marriott? We booked this December visit in February, upgrading the the Signature Club, now the John Palliser building. We happily pay $45 extra/night to have complimentary tea/coffee in the lounge throughout the day, continental breakfast, and happy hour in the lounge. We were disappointed to learn that all of those perks have been discontinued, but still we were okay paying for an upgraded room. But then we see that many of the main building's rooms are renovated now too. When I asked the front desk, why is the John Palliser building more expensive, given that there are no perks, even the front desk staff said "well we are supposed to say because the rooms are renovated but since they are renovating the main building that explanation doesn't work anymore." So we check into our room, 3201, on the end of the hall by the stairwell, beautiful, big, spacious, double vanity in the bathroom. Dead flies everywhere. On the carpet around the chairs, around the bed, on the windowsill, in the bathroom on the floor and in the sinks, must have been at least 40-50. House keeping came up very quickly to vacuum and he was surprised, said he's heard of this but never seen it. Took 2 separate trips from house keeping for them to finally have all of the dead flies cleaned. There was no alternative room to switch into it. I figured the room had just been vacant for a bit so once all was cleaned it wouldn't be an issue. Well overnight we killed a couple that were buzzing around the room, and in the morning found new dead ones in the bathroom, on the bedroom floor, and in a bag with games we brought. Front desk gives us an alternate room, doesn't tell us 1. its much smaller than original room and 2. its handicap accessible, so now our bathroom is all tiled and the shower isn't really separate and its just not appropriate for us. The first thing we notice when we walk into that room- flies on the floor around the chairs. The guest services man that was sent up with a cart to help us change rooms, Don, was very helpful. He is the one that found us another room-3228, and offered to take us to look at it before we agreed to switch. It was a smaller room but no flies so we gladly switched. In our group there was 6 rooms, 5 rooms had issues either requiring repair (2) or unresolvable that neccessitated switching (3). To their credit, all the staff we dealt with at the front desk was kind and helpful, although I find it strange that they constantly had to go to the room behind the desk to check with a manager? when making any adjustments, but at no point did a manager talk to us directly to acknowledge the situation we were in. We did get a dining credit for our stay which was appreciated. When I inquired about booking a massage at the spa, I asked if there was an RMT with 2200 hours as required by my insurance. I have asked this question every time I have booked at this spa, as well as multiple others, and never had any issue as to my understanding it is not an unusual request. This trip, I was told that its not possible to book based on that and that information is not accessible by booking staff and if I wanted it I'd have to leave a message with the manager. Seasons Steakhouse was a fabulous dinner, I love the live piano music. Francois was a wonderful, funny, server. Fonte, for only being open for something like 10 days prior to our dinner there was tremendous. Love the menu mix of casual and nicer options. Sea bass was delicious. Adam was a very lively and attentive server. Will be skipping out on our annual trip in March and stay somewhere else like Canmore instead.

"Very very mediocre "

I came here with family just after Christmas and was very disappointed in just about everything, the rooms are extremely outdated the toilets are completely yellow and stained and the bed sheets had quite a few holes in them, we found our room to be very hot and humid so we turned on the ceiling fan which wouldn't turn fast enough to cool anything down and the window was frozen shut so that was no help. I found the menu in every restaurant was very small and there was no selection and even though the portions are very meagre each dish was almost 30$, the service in forte was terrible, all the waiters seemed to not know what they were doing and everything was so so slow and I also found what looked like a pubic hair, despite the fact that the food and drinks were decent in the market deli everything was overpriced by at least 30%, The pool was disgusting and crusty, there were holes in the walls, the hot tub looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages and the steam room should be avoided at all costs as it smells like urine, mold and groin our whole family got rashes after going in the hot tub. On top of all of that there was a staff party one of the nights we were staying and basically everything closed early so we couldn't order any room service and it's not that I'm mad at that, I'm mad that I had to go down to the front desk to ask why no one was picking up the phone. It's an average hotel and I truly truly believe that they have a lot of kinks to work out. If you were thinking about coming here I would just wait until the renovations are done or save your money and go somewhere else. and also every vending machine just eats money
