Vancouver, de Gateway van de Pacific, is een van de populairste steden ter wereld. En niet voor niets. Vancouver is tevens uitvalsbasis voor een (auto-)reis door het westen van Canada of voor een uitstapje naar Vancouver Island.
We had one night here before starting our tour of the rockies. First impression of the area on a Friday night was not great especially after a long flight. The staff at this hotel were brilliant. We would like to thank Kirstina, Ian and Briana who were so helpful and who we felt went above and beyond. They were very helpful as we learnt on arrival that our credit card had been cloned and we had to make a couple of calls to the UK to sort out. The staff were so helpful, this is the reason for my 5 stars. The room was functional, a bit tired and musty smell as mentioned in another review but on the plus side a good location and considering its on a busy street you couldn't hear any noise in the roon from outside.
"Two nights stay"
We arrived in Vancouver after a 20hr flight from Aus, very tired, and went straight to our hotel. I was surprised to see, we had to carry our luggage up about 10 stairs to get to the reception. We were greeted by lovely staff, who booked us in early, which I was very thankful for, and also given a happy hour voucher😀, and then told about the parking😣, which was $25+gst per day, in an open air, non secure parking lot(a bit over the top). Then we went up to our room, and I have to say, I was a bit taken back, with how crammed it was, and a musty smell. Thankfully we weren't in our room much. The Irish pub attached was a life saver. Couldn't recommend the Comfort Inn going on our room and how much we had to pay. Cheers, Kerrie
"Decent location, basic hotel"
We recently spent 2 nights at this hotel. I booked it based on its central location and fair price (for Vancouver anyway). Check-in was painless and they upgraded our room from double beds to queen beds. The room is spacious enough, but fairly dated. Our a/c also made a ton of noise, so hopefully that got looked at before the next guests checked in. We were able to walk down to the waterfront in about 20 minutes. Walking to Stanley Park would probably take a good 45 minutes at least. It's about a $35 cab ride from the airport, but we took the train which worked well. The surrounding area doesn't look awesome, but I felt safe walking at night. There's also a bar attached to the hotel, which is convenient. Tim Horton's is also right across the street.
"Trip to see Guns And Roses Concert"
Vancouver was my city for 13 years and I go back occassionally for visits. It has been a few years and I can say I dont miss the traffic the overwhelming amount of homeless people and overpriced hotels! The Comfort Inn has a location that is desirable but its OLD as in needs major reno and lack of parking is bad not to mention the urine smell in the parking lot due to homeless and halfway house attached to hotel! Sad and scary! Breakfast was served in the Pub which was smelly and sticky but okay food. The rooms were small and carpet smelled. Was afraid to walk on barefoot. Bathroom barely enough space to move in. Was not happy about additional parking charge we were not told about when we booked. Elevator very small. We booked 6 months prior to visit and paid $340 taxes and parking. The price went up to $600 the day we were there. What we paid was 3xs what it should have been! Total joke what these businesses get away with.....but again Vancouver is catering to the rich and famous cultures that we average whitefolk cannot afford. Way to go Vancouver NOT. Our view was of an attached mens halfway house that would have scared Grandma out of her wits. Was afraid to open curtain for what I saw was SAD. Truly sad. So Comfort Inn your Pub Doolins was great for preconcert drinks but otherwise your facilty is in bad shape and it needs some big time attention not to mention you are overpriced! Would not stay here againðŸ˜
"Once inside - Top Notch !!"
I was a little turned off by the street (minus 1 star) but once inside, it was a 5 star hotel. Decor, furnishings and staff were terrific. I only booked this hotel because of all the great reviews from Tripadvisor.... and they were right on.
