Vancouver, de Gateway van de Pacific, is een van de populairste steden ter wereld. En niet voor niets. Vancouver is tevens uitvalsbasis voor een (auto-)reis door het westen van Canada of voor een uitstapje naar Vancouver Island.
"Excellent service refurbished"
Stayed August 2017. Excellent front desk - always eager to help and cheerily greets you everyday as you leave and return. The staff here never seems put off by any request, which seems to me to be a top-down management attitude. Even when the breakfast lines were long on BC Day, a manager stepped in to assist with clearing tables and alleviating the pressure from guests to be seated. As far as the restaurants, this is one area of complaint I have, but based on some signage new restaurant format might be forthcoming. The Manhattan Restaurant on the 2nd floor is open for breakfast only. Seating seems a little inadequate for the number of guests, but service was quick and food decent. This is the only place I thought the staff was a little less friendly, probably because they were seemingly short-staffed for BC Day holiday. The bar/restaurant in the lobby - Spencer's - is available for meals. Unfortunately it's more a bar than restaurant so seating was either at high tops or small cocktail table seating. We have a child in a wheelchair so we had to use cocktail tables, and with three young children, the tables were too small. In any case, the food here was surprisingly good. Menu states that it's the only place in the city that has fish and chips made with salmon. That's not true as we've seen it elsewhere. Spencer's has a surprisingly eclectic menu, and we were happy with our selections. The rooms were clean and refurbished recently. Housekeeping would occasionally leave notes of appreciation for tips, which was a pleasant surprise. Bed was comfortable, but after a week of sleeping on the pull out, the kids were complaining of discomfort, but that's true for any pull out sofa bed. Rooms were not spacious for a family by any means (by American standards) but adequate for the amount of time spent in the room. Location of the hotel was fantastic. Very close to Waterfront station for the Skytrain to reach Canada and Expo lines. The Granville entrance for Canada line is literally on the other side of the pink alley on Seymour. I would give the hotel a 5 for overall service but knock one star off for restaurant seating. I would, however, not hesitate to stay here again if our travels bring us to the beautiful city of Vancouver again.
"Overnight in Vancouver"
Wonderful hotel. Beds were so comfortable. Able to check bags when you arrive early. Guest services were very accommodating. Food was delicious and service good. Close to Gastown and the port. Excellent views.
Meets all the high expectations for a Marriott, so the main positive for this hotel is its location. An easy walk to Gas Town, Canada Place, restaurants, shopping and other attractions. The staff handled being mobbed by guests with efficiency and aplomb. Fast Wi-Fi. Has a very convenient, well-stocked 7-11 type shop that also has a door to the street.
"Lovely room and Great customer Service"
Great location to downtown. Very clean facilities and all members of staff were helpful and accommodating. We had 10 people in our group and a tour coming up before our cruise and the staff was very helpful on storing and holding our luggage for us while on our tour.
Spent two nights here at the start of August. Hotel itself is nice, recently renovated and modern suites. The location of the property is wonderful for it's accessibility to get around the city - however I believe that the neighbourhood is maybe not the safest in the evening, as such there is not much street presence for the hotel and the elevators can only be activated using a room key, not a big deal but it does change the vibe of a hotel vs one where there are windows and such at ground level. The feel is sort of isolated from the neighbourhood... but that is just me being fussy, it's not really a bad thing. I really enjoyed happy hour in the hotel lobby bar, as you can get a glass of wine for $6. The bartender, and I'm hoping I have her name correct, Cassandra, is truly amazing! Went out of her way to make me feel welcome and actually helped with a lot of the activities I did during my time in Vancouver - very much appreciated!!! One suggestion I would make to management would be to sort some sort of luggage rack out in the rooms - as there is no dresser to put things in, other than hangers in a tall slender armoire, there is no real storage for clothing. As such, I ended up planting my suitcase on the flier in the front entry and lifting it onto the bed when I needed access.
