"Even better when renovations are complete"
I was booked 6 nights at this hotel to attend a conference in the attached building next door. Thankfully I was on one of the top floors that had been renovated. My room, a king suite, was clean, spacious, and nicely updated. It was on a "club floor" which apparently doesn't mean anything (yet?). The staff are lovely and very helpful, from the front desk to the guy at the bar who was a bit lenient about the end of happy hour for our colleague who arrived at 6:01 pm. The remodeling is extensive and quite noisy during the day. I only popped into my room a couple of times during the day and the drilling sound was terrible. If I had needed a nap or a quiet place to work, I would have been unhappy. The remodeling activity sometimes resulted a long wait for an elevator, which was often shared with the workers, their equipment and supplies, with stops on multiple floors. In a prior stay at another hotel undergoing renovation, one elevator was designated for the workers only. This would have been a good strategy here. I appreciated that when you select the option to "go green" that you are actually taken seriously. So many times elsewhere I have tried to do this, only to find that my room has been cleaned and all towels replaced. What's the point? Here it appears that the hotel staff do not enter your room at all if you go green; with service on the 3rd day. Overall, a great room for what I needed. The location was convenient to Gastown and the Simon Frazier campus.
"Nice view , central location"
The hotel is well situated in downtown Vancouver - close to waterfront station. Easy walking distance to museums & shopping. Bus easy to catch to Stanley Park, and only $11 taxi to Granville Island. Breakfast buffet was limited. Breakfast staff was very friendly and accommodating. Front staff was mixed - friendly at check in and rude during our stay. We waited well over half an hour for staff to bring us a duvet for the pullout couch - when I called after 30 mins to ask when someone would bring the duvet up front staff gruffly replied " I already called housekeeping- I can't do anything more. " New rooms are nice, but there are nicer places to stay in Vancouver for the same price.
"Renovation work makes rooms very noisy during day"
The Delta is an attractive, well situated hotel with friendly staff and well equipped rooms. Not any more attractive, well situated, well equipped or friendly than the Air BnB I had stayed in the previous week in Vancouver for half the price, but completely convenient for the conference next door. The hotel makes a big thing of the current refurbishment, which looks as if it will be lovely if you are staying there next year. However, in order to achieve that, there are extensive works going on. They won't bother you if you are out of the hotel all day, but I was paying for a business hotel, and therefore for a quiet space where I could retreat during the day to write reports and run through presentations. During the afternoon, the noise from drilling (presumably on the floor above me) was extraordinarily loud. After putting up with it for half an hour, while trying to write an urgent report, I rang reception to ask when it would be finishing. They said it would continue for another half hour and offered ear plugs or, alternatively, suggested I could sit in the bar. For me, one of the reasons for paying business hotel rates is that I don't have to sit with my laptop in a bar. The next afternoon, the noise was the same. I took a picture of the decibel level in my room at 2.14pm - it averaged 66.4 decibels and went up to a max, in the time I was checking, of 73 decibels. I really think the hotel should have warned customers in advance of arrival and/or reduced the room rate substantially during the period of renovations and/or offered the opportunity to move to a room far removed from the noise of drilling. If you are planning being there in the next few months, and need a quiet room during the day, I recommend asking for one of those options.
"Central downtown location"
Have enjoyed this hotel for over 10 years now and has provided us with a walk able option in all directions every time. Easy walk to Rogers arena, Gas Town, China Town and most downtown locations including the sea wall. The staff has always been very professional and accommodating. The hotel is currently being renovated from the top down as will be amazing to see the transformation on our next stay!
"Fab hotel "
Fabulous Hotel. Staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. Great location for Rogers arena and downtown Vancouver. I stayed here with my teenage daughter and would definitely stay here again if I was visiting Vancouver in the future.
