"what a wonderful time"

   27-11-2016
we had a very warm welcome by the resort manager who led us to a wonderful beach villa right at the sea. very original and very comfortable, it puts one right into the holiday mood ,-) the beach walks were lovely and there was always something to discover. the food was fine - especially lunch - and we enjoyed a lot that the setting of the dinner changed every other day (jetty, beach, restaurant, pool). that was very nice & entertaining. one shouldnt be shy of the one or the other encounter with the monkeys, but they are fun, especially the daring/hysterical teen-monkeys ;-)) i had a range of massages/shiatsu at the spa > just wonderful & highly recommended. the staff are really nice and always happy to please. i even got one cake recipe, which i liked very much. we went for diving several times, my partner even did a night dive which he told me was simply great with lots of sightings. the dive master is really professional and makes you feel safe. we had a wonderful time!

"Robinson Crusoe never had it this good"

   21-11-2016
Built using local timber and materials, the first impressions of the lodge are of a "Robinson Crusoe" style island hideout. What becomes clear very quickly though is that he never had it this good. Nestled on a secluded shoreline, these luxury permanent 'tented' suites are all unique and well appointed within the lodge, some hidden in the jungle above and others along the shore. The service staff are truly amazing-the friendliest we've met and the management team are superb. They made us feel like VIP's! For the active types snorkelling, scuba, deep sea fishing etc are all available. If your unit does not have a private pool you can make use of the pool with the best view next to the pool bar. Speaking of which, there are three bars/restaurants to choose from for sundowners and lunches if you don't want to laze around your suite all day. If you want an exclusive and secluded getaway somewhere special - Fundu Lagoon will tick all the boxes.

"Secluded honeymoon luxury"

   20-11-2016
My wife and I spent a week at Fundu Lagoon after a few days of Safari. After a 45 min drive from the airport to the ferry port we were taken to the resort via a RIB boat where we were welcomed by Ramon the manager who showed us to our rooms. The place is amazing, as it is only accessible by boat it definitely has a desert island feel with the trees and sand so a perfect spot to relax and unwind. We had a beach front room, the rooms are quite small but we also had our own decking area outside with steps leading down to the beach where we had our own sunloungers and parasol. The beach is very quiet with the occasional local walking up it so at times you feel like you have your own private beach. The food was incredible with so much choice, breakfast included fry-up options, cereals, pastries, fruit etc and lunch was normally served at the pool bar which also had plenty of choice. Most of the evening meals were served in the main restaurant but they also had theme nights including a traditional Swahili buffet (including dancing!) on the pier or a BBQ (loads of different meat and lobster) on the beach. Local drinks like beer and wine and soft drinks were included but cocktails and imported drinks came with an extra charge. As well as unwinding there is also plenty to do at Fundu lagoon so you can get that balance of relaxing but not getting too bored. The diving centre runs numerous diving and snorkeling trips to some other small islands, and the highlight for us was a boat trip to see a pod of dolphins who swam right around the boat! Also we went on a sunset cruise in one of the traditional dhow style sailing boats. You can also borrow snorkeling or kayaking equipment for free and explore some of the local waters and mangroves. There are also plenty of spa treatments and the pool area is a great place to have a few drinks and some lunch, it also has a lovely infinity pool. The staff at Fundu are very friendly and service was generally great especially at meal times. Also there is some local wildlife that come out in the evening, mainly the vervet monkeys and bush babies, we left a couple of bananas out on our decking in order to see the bush baby up close! The only downside to the week was the amount of sandfly bites, if you are prone to being bitten like me than make sure you take precautions! Fundu Lagoon is a great place for a luxurious and quiet getaway, it really is paradise!

"Quiet and dreamy!"

   21-10-2016
After a very early flight from Dar es Salaam, you are picked up at the airport by friendly Mussa, driven across Pemba (the cloves, vanilla and cinnamon island), put on a fast boat and then...you see it, the long wooden peer where Ramon, the managing director awaits for you to greet you. The hotel is barely visible, blending in with the tall jungle trees. The coast line is even clearer when the low tide comes in. Karibu Fundu Lagoon!!, says the hotel. Beautifully designed, the superior suites are just spectacular with a wide private deck, private pool, private access to the beach. Sundowners with a glass of wine and fresh fish for dinner can only make you smile! The entire place screams privacy and relaxation!

"Relaxing and sportive"

   18-10-2016
We stayed for one week at the Fundu Lagoon with my husband. It was recommended by the agency Imagine Africa (they are really good btw). A really great place overall. Food, landscape, activities, services, people, relaxation, everything was there ! A special note to the management of the hotel who was great, and to the diving center which is really well experienced, and showed us great diving places ! A big thanks to the team !
