Dit resort heeft vier restaurants: The Pavilion voor maaltijden in buffetvorm en Coral Cove aan het strand voor een pizza. Wilt u liever dineren op het water met uitzicht over de adembenemende zee? Voor een geringe toeslag kunt u à la carte dineren in het Sea Breeze Restaurant. U heeft mogelijkheden tot kanoën, windsurfen, zeilen en tennissen (betaling ter plaatse). Er is een duikschool (PADI) waar u tegen betaling lessen kunt volgen. De deluxe kamers met zeezicht liggen op drie niveaus in de tropische tuin. Het groene en tropische 'specerijeneiland' Zanzibar voor de kust van Tanzania is 86 km lang en 39 km breed. Het eiland is een ideale verlenging na een rondreis door Tanzania.


Having stayed at this groups resorts in the Maldives we expected better than what we got .We arrived about 10.30 am after are introduction it was great to be told are deluxe room 128 was ready on the lower level the cart took use to the upper level as that was as close it could go so then we had to go down several lots of steps, the room was very nice free mini bar , large double bed air con and fan all very clean great. Next day there was a horrible smell of sewerage we found out a manhole had overflowed due to a blockage or broken pipe , ok these things happen but after a week it still was not fixed and if the wind was in the right direction we could not sit out on the balcony there was never an offer to change rooms or even sorry so we asked for a room change this was done very reluctantly we moved to room 312 top level but some 50 + steps to the beach , the beach is very good and racked every day plenty of sunbeds but some were still being reserved( not the BRITS) only one beach towel per person officially, beach bar and grill staff excellent great fun to be had with the evening staff .The food in general was good the rice pudding best, we used the soup bowls as the plates provided were no good, but the MEAT was tough, stringy and hard, would think poor quality supplied to restaurant. The staff in general are very helpful and friendly but reception did not pass on messages, if you rang about a problem nobody ever came, there was some building refurbishment going on but we did not find this a problem and finally why should you have to pay for food ie al a carte when paying for all inclusive. Needs to get its act together or down grade

"October half term Zanzibar Holiday"

Unfortunately during our week at Diamonds la Gemma, the weather was at best changeable, at worst torrential rain. This is obviously not the fault of the hotel but has possibly influenced my impressions / opinions ... Having said the above, the hotel is set out in amazing gardens which are beautifully kept. We were lucky enough to have a deluxe room (number 317) which is centrally located and provides amazing views of the beach / sea / sunset. The rooms themselves are dark because of how they are set into the hillside. They are comfortable, well appointed and the beds were extremely comfortable, the free mini bar in the room is also a really nice touch. There was however, no hairdryer / iron or ironing board if required. The very large, beautiful pool was set next to the elevated private beach which then went down to the public beach, that stretches for miles in both directions. The sea is beautiful and crystal clear, perfect for snorkelling. The pool bar / snack bar was superb - however, please note that lunch in this location is only available under the all inclusive from 12:00 until 14:00, otherwise meals have to be purchased - not really what I would expect from a 5* 'all inclusive'. The main buffet restaurant is located at the top of the resort, which involves walking up 40 to 50 steps, which was not mentioned by either my holiday provider or the hotels main website. However, Virgin Holidays now state (after my complaints) that this hotel is set on a hillside and those with walking / mobility difficulties may struggle. The food was not what I would expect from a 5* hotel (others it my) with my main complaint being the quality of the meat, which in my opinion was tough and inedible. I do however, understand and appreciate that Zanzibar is a tiny Island off the coast of Africa, however I went to Mombasa, Kenya less than 2 months ago where the food was superb. During the evenings - the main place to be was the superb jetty with its bar and entertainment (although limited). Of an evening, we enjoyed sitting on the jetty watching the sea life and local fisherman courtesy of the lights underneath the jetty shining on the water. Throughout all the bars in the resort, we enjoyed a great selection of cocktails and local beers / wines / spirits. During our stay, we noticed and heard building work taking place near to the pool and above on the hillside, where there is construction of new rooms and a new bar / restaurant. This however, wasn't totally intrusive and I do appreciate that work / renovations have to be carried out at some point. Having said all the above, it was the staff that made our holiday. Nothing was too much trouble and the hotel should be very proud of their hard work and dedication. I am not sure if I would return to this hotel in the future as there are so many other places in the world to visit but never say never. For help and reference, I have uploaded some photos of Diamonds la Gemma, showing the steps / building works and also the beautiful settings of the hotels.

"Not 5*. A few issues. "

Overall the hotel is nice. The views are stunning which is a big positive. The food in the main restaurant is also of a good quality. I am gluten-free and there was still plenty of choice. Cocktails at the bars are also lovely. Overall, the hotel is pleasant but I wouldn’t say 5*. The rooms are fine. However, we were a honeymoon couple and given two single beds pushed together which was a bit odd. The resort is also fine but currently let down by the renovation works. Also, the fact that lots of things aren’t all inclusive. We tried the other restaurants and they were nice but pretty pricey. Other reviews highlight some issues. All seemed to happen to us: - If you get a room near the end of the row then have fun trying to sleep. There are loud generators which come on early in the morning. Ask for a central room. - The rooms are clean but items go missing. If you use a dressing gown one day, don’t expect it to be in the room that evening. Dressing gowns and towels were removed and not replaced. - We phoned reception on two seperate occasions. For towels, they said someone would come but nobody did. On the other call we were hung up on :-/ - There was loud drilling on the beach which was extremely frustrating. - We booked a spa treatment. Got given the wrong treatment. Then got told to pay for it because it was the same price! The hotel is beautiful on paper and in pictures but not really 5*. As a honeymoon couple we felt a bit let down by the experience which is a shame.

"room for aprovement"

One introductionary comment: if this were a four star hotel I would have given full five points! A very nice location on a very nice beach with well trained and customer oreintated staff. Dive centre on site. In a five star hotel I expect perfection. Alltough we had a very pleasent stay (13 nights) there are details which give room for improvement. Some examples: - we emailed the hotel five months before our stay to express a room wish but did not get any reply. Also no reply after a reminder email a month before our stay... - all inclusive is not all inclusive: at the beach restaurant the meals are included until 2pm. After 2 pm there is a surcharge. The snacks on offer are free but more three star than five star - the wonderful Sea Breeze restaurant at the end of the sun set jetty is not included at all. - we would have expected more activities to be included or on offer. For example the yoga classes are not free (but very good, thanks Manuela!) - there was noise from the building site on the beach. They are building a new restaurant there... seems they are nearly finished.

"Stunning setting"

Just spent 13 nights at this beautiful resort. Stunning setting,immaculately maintained. The beach and sea are outstanding, very safe for swimming and hardly any tide We stayed in a deluxe room. These are all set in the hillside and all have a stunning sea view with nice furnished terrace and are a good size with everything you need stocked minibar, tea making facilities, tv with good choice of channels. Beds are super comfy with turndown service, mosquito net positioned and room sprayed every evening. Our room was beautifully cleaned by our lovely maid Sophie D everyday. Choice of restaurants , the buffet is very good. I am gluten intolerant and mentioned this on my first visit by next daythey had brought in gluten free bread pasta etc which was available for me for the whole stay.The restaurant is expertly run by the best restaurant manager we have met in many years of travelling ,Ambros and his professionalism is reflected in his staff. We had an instance where my husband left his valuable camera in the restaurant and our thanks go to neema the waitress who very honestly handed it in so we could have it back. Our thanks go to all the restaurant staff who made our meals so enjoyable , the receptionists Hururaand Rebecca who ensured we had a nice table in every visit. The waiting staff including Rehema, Ezra,Simon Gody and many others.. There is a beach bar which serves lunch and drinks throughout the day including the best cappuchinos in the resort.the waiter service on the beach was excellent and our thanks go to Juma, Baracka , Abu, Elizabeth and all the others who kept us beautifully refreshed on the beach. The wine is good we only drink rose which is not always available in resorts but the rose and all the other wines were South African and very good. A nice feature of this resort is the lounge bar out on the pier with a lovely sea breeze and nightly entertainment and dancing. Once a week the African village evening with barbecue and Masai entertainment is a nice change. We did trips to stone town, prison island and the atoll to snorkel -all booked through the boys on on the beach and can recommend these. The sellers on the beach were good fun and are only allowed on the lower part and security ensured they did not come up the steps to the private resort beach. Mosquitos were not really a problem I usually get bitten to death but only had three bites none of which happened in the resort. All in a wonderful holiday here with the highlights being the wonderful staff. Nothing is too much trouble and always a smile and a hakuna matata
