We stayed in the O resort at Kuredu for 16 nights in April. Everything about the resort is 5 star ...... the rooms, restaurants, bars, entertainment & especially the staff. Every member of staff were so friendly and helpful. Our holiday was made extra special by our waiter in the O buffet restaurant, Ali Nimaz. He was so LOVELY!!! By the end of our holiday he was like a member of our family. Nimaz was a wonderful waiter, and looked after us brilliantly. (The fooball shirts are on their way, son!! )We also fell in love with Amir the 'O' pool attendant. He was also like a son to us. He was such a nice person, & an excellent waiter. Rahim the chef in the 'O' restaurant was also a good friend, & an excellent chef (thank you for the fried onions!). Another great waiter is Shafleen. We loved the 'O' bar staff , especially Nicks, Krishna, Sreedev & all of the others. The O Resort is really peaceful & quiet, & we thought it was the best place to stay on Kuredu. We were very sad to leave, but will definitely be back next year, same time, same place!! Can't wait to see our "Kuredu Family" again! See you all in 2019!!!!
We couldn't fault this resort and cant wait to come back for the following reasons: 5* customer service 5* Friendliness 5* Cleanliness 5* service at resturants 5* service at shops 5* at prodive and shop 5* excursions 5*comfort in room 5* service from all the staff especially Naax ( waiter), Toojan (customer services), Riznee (Room service). The whole experience was wonderful and made such an impression on us we definitely cant wait to return as everyone is friendly and cant do enough for you. I was on crutches and they sorted transport for me whenever i needed it. Thank you for making our holiday so special.
"HORROR ISLAND - IMPORTANT!!! BEWARE ALL"
I visited this resort back in October 2017 with my mother and father for two weeks who had visited two years prior and this is a place we would NEVER VISIT OR RECOMMEND ANYONE TO VISIT AGAIN. Day 11 of the holiday on 4th November my parents were swimming in the sea next to the jetty, this was not the first time they had swam here and enjoyed looking at the turtles like lots of other people on the island. My parents respect the sea and were always very careful and always swam together as recommended by the island. Whilst I was on the beach watching my parents, I noticed them swimming back to shore. My Father was slightly ahead of my Mother; therefore, he came out of the water first. At this point my Mother was still swimming, until she reached around 4 meters from the shore and suddenly stopped. Luckily myself and father were very vigilant, in the space of around 1-2 minutes we noticed something was not quite right and wondered what it was she was doing, she was still and her back slightly arched. My father and I quickly ran into the water, my father began frantically swimming to her. When he reached her, he screamed for help whilst struggling to still tread water himself and support her head out of the water. I screamed louder for help as well as signal for help, thankfully a strong swimmer nearby managed to help my father get her out of the water and drag her to shore. Lots of people came to my mother’s aid from the screaming, which were all holiday makers initially. As you can imagine for anyone, it was for me and my father a moment of pure panic and terrifying and something which you could never imagine happening, especially in so called paradise. I remember seeing my mother blue/purple, her eyes fix and dilated (at this point she was DEAD) and medical professionals who were holiday makers who had luckily arrived on the island earlier that day began resuscitating my mother. The island doctor then appeared, with no oxygen, no defibrillator, only a bag – which was not organised. The British holiday maker who was an A&E doctor completely took over from the island doctor and managed to get a faint pulse. My mother was then taken to the island clinic, even at this point I did not really know if my mother would make it. She began to go white and build a stronger pulse whilst moving her arms and legs, we were told she was trying to fight to get blood back around her body. At this point I was still distraught at the thought of her possibly being brain damaged. We were strongly advised by the British medical professionals that she needed to go to the main hospital in Male, however the island doctor and management gave us the option for her to stay on the island or to take her. THIS WAS IN NO WAY AN OPTION FOR US, we wanted to take her ASAP. She wasn’t in any way out of the woods yet! The first thing the island management were interested in was if we had insurance, which we did. We had to go back to our room distraught and in total shock and panic, we quickly packed our important belongings to go with my Mother to Male Hospital. Now of frantically packing the management were insisting on seeing our insurance documents which was still not enough, I was made to ring them, not knowing at this stage what was happening with my mother. It was as it they wouldn’t have taken her if we did not have insurance, this should be irrelevant in the matter of life and death!! A seaplane was soon cancelled and we were on the next seaplane out, which was within 1 hour of this all happening. My mother thankfully remained stable enough throughout the journey, which involved a sea plane, boat & 2 ambulances. We were very lucky that the doctor bought enough oxygen canisters with us, although he told us the last bottle was running low when we were almost there. It was later we were told that as Kuredu is an island which is popular for diving they therefore have oxygen supplies. Lots of islands do not. After spending 2 nights in Male hospital my mother thankfully survived, we were incredibly lucky. We returned to the island, as you can imagine at the point our holiday was already ruined, this time was used for my mother to build up her strength for the long journey home. Throughout this time the management did not want us mixing with any other guests and we were not left alone with the guests who saved my mother when we spent time to thank them, although we could never thank them enough. It was if they wanted this horrifying incident to be ignored and not spoken about or other guests informed. They kept referring to what happened was a near drowning incident, but my mother never yelled for help or looked in any distress. At the time of the incident happening, Julia who was a member of the management told me that an incident happened two weeks before to a 30 year old man on his honeymoon but he unfortunately couldn’t be saved (this can be seen in The Irish Sun along with my mother’s story), very insensitive when you had just seen your mother dead and still didn’t know if she was going to be ok. We were not informed of this at all when we arrived as we would of not swam in that part of the water. Before leaving the island the three of us along with the nurses and retired police officers who also helped save my mother were told by management that due to this happening again in such a short amount of time, more safety measures would be put in place. For example, oxygen stations on the beach and more water buoy’s which would cost around $8000. The professional holiday makers who helped saved my mother also thought it was disgusting that no procedures were in place for such an emergency. Although we had insurance which our insurance company confirmed it would cover all my mother’s treatment, management still insisted we paid before leaving the island despite going through such an ordeal, this was something we had to pay and claim back once back in the UK. Since returning to the UK, we have been advised by medical professionals that it was highly likely my mother was electrocuted in the water, her lungs were not those of a drowning victim by looking at the X-Rays which were taken at Male hospital. The A&E Consultant also told us how when my mother was taken out of the water her jaw was clenched, another symptom of electrocution. My mother has had to undergo many of tests which her consultant is certain the ones which she is still yet to have will also come back negative and that no underlying health issue was responsible for what happened. Myself and my mother have contacted Patrick the island manager recently to request evidence that the water has been checked, pictures of the extra safety measures that we were promised were to be put in place and confirmation that emergency procedures have been improved. We have failed to receive anything like this, the customer service has been appalling and very unprofessional, lies have also been told by him stating people were swimming where they shouldn’t have been, which is sickening. I am still awaiting his and the board of directors reply to my latest email. It seems as if they are ignoring us now. Very disrespectful that Patrick can post on social media but not reply to my emails. We only want to make more people aware so they can at least make their own choices and to save more lives. Also for questions to be answered by the island to help us get over this awful experience. This is somewhere we would never visit again or recommend for anyone to visit, save your money and go somewhere with better safety procedures. In the unfortunate case of an emergency where you need medical help your chances of surviving somewhere here is extremely low. Through recently reading an article online the Maldivian government have warned tourists to be extra careful due to an increase of so called drownings in 3 feet of water, something extremely dangerous is happening on these islands which is trying to be covered up by island management. The UK would most certainly never get away with not investigating this and feel it’s awful they are and are playing with tourists lives. PLEASE BEWARE ALL! Hopefully this review will trigger Patrick and the Island Board of Directors to respond to me and provide the answers and evidence which we have been asking for, and before this happens again! Thanks for reading!
We have just returned from our 5th visit to Kuredu and had a great time. We arrived in Male, checked in for the seaplane and then taken to the Kuredu lounge. This took less that 30 minutes. We did not have to wait long to be taken to the seaplane, 10 minutes and we were then on our way to this beautiful island. We were welcomed onto the island by many of the hosts, which is a lovely idea. We were taken through to the bar, to be checked in. We were given a refreshing iced tea. We checked in and went along to our beach bungalow. Great views and the beach just in front of us. We prefer a beach bungalow, just seem's less busier than other areas. As this was our 5th visit we were given a red band, This allowed us to dine in other restaurants however, we chose The Bonthi. We were welcomed back by the staff here, a great bunch that go out of their way to help you. Head Waiter Ibrahim makes sure that everything runs smoothly and always has time to chat to guests. Fahli was the waiter that we have had on our last couple of visits. He is such a lovely person, very attentive and a great asset to The Bonthi. The chefs are excellent, thank you so much for going that extra mile to cook a chicken breast for my daughter who has a nut allergy. Special thank's to Kieron who always explains what everything is and what to eat with it. Another member of staff that always has a smile. The food in this restaurant is plentiful, there is something for everyone. Salads, pasta, fish, meat, curry, you name it, The Bonthi has it. We played golf again, which is always fun and stopped after to have a drink in the bar. We also dined in The Sangu, a beautiful setting on the beach. The food was lovely and again there were plenty of choices. Head waiter Adam served us, he was very attentive and made sure that we had everything that we needed. We chose to dine here on our last evening and Adam had decorated our table beautifully. Another asset to Kuredu. Thank you Adam. I know Kuredu have recently introduced a new bar format, changes with what cocktails you can have in the variety of bars. This did not bother us at all, just meant that we went along to other bars and tried other cocktails. You are on holiday, why stress over a cocktail ? The distance between bar's really isn't that far and you can always catch one of the many buggys/taxis that are around. If you are considering visiting Kuredu, book it you will not regret it. Another holiday over but one that will stay with us forever. Thank you to everyone on Kuredu and we will see you soon.
We have just spent the most amazing week in kureda island resort and spa celebrating our 35 th wedding aniversary. The island is beautifully kept. The staff are amazing. A special thanks to Farli our waiter and to our housekeeper fizal ( hope we have spelt these correctly). So friendly and nothing to much trouble. Food was of a very good quality and very varied.
