"The most perfect honeymoon stay"
We had the pleasure of staying here for our honeymoon for 10 nights. The island is completely mesmerising and the facilities second to none. There is a wide range of restaurants to choose from (all of which the food tasted sublime!) The staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating, we even received a free upgrade! We opted for the all inclusive package which included unlimited drinks, food, ice cream and coffee - it was perfect! From water sports, the wanderlust library to sea turtle diving, there were lots of activities to get involved in, they even do a treasure hunt where you have to find little messages in bottles hidden around the islands to bad yourself a free treat :) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend for a perfect getaway.
"A fantastic honeymoon"
The resort manager, Mohamed Mamoun is a nice and very hospitable gentleman. He is very polite and always take care of our needs. Also, I want to thank Hassan, the waiter who gave me and my husband two romantic dinner at the East Market. Alibee, when we stayed in 101(far far away), he kept our room very neat. Irman, who made the decoration of our bed. Mylee and Rachel are very kind and helpful, too. Love here so much.
Lux is the best island in Maldives and Mr. Mamoun the best general manager in the world. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left all the staff were very happy, caring and extremely polite, we even joined the staff party on our final night and even during their party, the staff treated us with so much respect and offered us their food, drinks wonderful people. All things are great . Couldn't ask for anything more from our honeymoon. The lux went the extra mile to make our honeymoon special, providing us with a surprise cake and a special star night cruise. Many thanks to Mr. Mamoun and all team.
"Felt like our own private island. More than 5 star!"
I'll try to avoid any spoilers in this review as I think it's best to discover things yourself. We stayed here in November 2016, all-inclusive and had an amazing holiday. We simply could not find fault with any aspect of the resort. All the staff were amazing and made us feel very welcome the entire time. Little touches like small surprises in the room and staff remembering who you are made a big difference to other resorts. Although this is a tiny island (Atoll) and only takes about 20 mins to walk from one tip to the other and 1 to 2 minutes side to side we often felt like the only ones there. You can sit on the beach and not see anyone else at all. We often laughed at meal times wondering where everyone came from as there would be all these people suddenly. Not to say it was crowded, it always felt just right. Having the option to be around others of on your own was lovely. Beaches and sea were lovely, warm and clean, great for snorkelling especially in the small lagoon area in front of the beach restaurant. Exception to this was on the South East where you do find junk washes up on the beach such as plastic bottles. This of course is not the fault with the resort and there are no rooms allocated here so I see no reason why it would bother anyone. They actually do what they can to clean things up and even have a junk-art workshop where you can go and make things or just admire what's been made before. Don't let this put you off as it really isn't an issue. All the food was amazing and not once did we feel we were eating anything that was just OK. A great choice in all restaurants and served with a smile. I miss the food very much and I did not expect that to happen. The restaurants are well appointed and clean. Very fresh and airy with good atmosphere. The ice-cream parlour was fab with great flavours and homemade ice lollies too. Buffet was just as good as the al la carte’s. Bars: Drinks were all top shelf international brands as you'd expect. They also do great cocktails and not that pre-made rubbish. The bar out over the water was our favourite. lots of different seating. We loved laying on the nets over the water and looking for fish. The pools were very nice and not too warm as you get in some places, just right. Neither pool is particularity big but they were never busy and often had them to ourselves. Rooms: We were lucky enough to try two room types. We booked into a Beach Villa right by the Spa. It had an outside round bath tub but the toilet, shower etc were all inside. This was just lovely and exactly what we wanted. Huge TV which we used for checking what's going on in the resort and listening to music channel. You can do various things like book spa treatments and listen to resort music etc which is a nice touch. English plug sockets and I think there were usb sockets by the bed to charge phones but can't quite remember. Our room was cleaned twice a day and it was a very good clean, not a quick swish about with a broom. He always asked if we needed anything and if everything was OK, such a nice man. We did have a small leak in one of the sinks which we asked him to fix. He was straight on the case and very apologetic. This brings me onto the next room... During our evening meal, halfway through our week the hotel Manager came to our table and apologized about the problem we had with the sink. We said it really wasn't a problem but he insisted it was unacceptable. He went on to explain that the leak had uncovered a bigger problem with the rooms plumbing and that they needed to work on it. We were offered a Romantic Pool Water Villa and asked if we wouldn't mind changing rooms the next day for the rest of the holiday. We were genuinely surprised at such an upgrade for so little inconvenience to us but that is exactly why this resort can charge what it does, It's the quality of the experience. The Manager was so professional and friendly I cannot praise him enough. Next morning, we were picked up and taken to our Water Villa. This was beautiful and we could not fault it in the slightest. It had its own small infinity plunge pool with a shallow part to lay in. Loved it. Double shower room too which was just excellent. Our opinion after experiencing both rooms was this. If we went again we would choose the Beach villa. If we went again and money wasn't an issue, we might choose the Water villa with pool. Of course, this is personal preference but we just felt the Beach villa somehow offered more privacy and in a nicer setting. It was like our beach villa, our home. You have your own sun loungers on the beach and it felt like more space. The water villas are quite close together and you can hear your neighbours on their balcony/ pool areas when you are outside. Oh, and I would say the big draw to the water villa was having that plunge pool. I don't see the point in the water villas without this, personally. Also if you do go for a water villa I would recommend the ones on the North-East as the water around them was much more inviting plus there is more going on at this end. Dress code. As usual they say men should wear long trousers for dinner. Most men wore chinos and flip flops, didn't see anyone with smart/dress shoes. We did not wear shoes once so don't take them. Everyone was either bare foot or in flip flops, just wear smart clothes and avoid jeans, logo heavy clothes etc. It's very 'island chic' and relaxed. Spa. We had a couple’s massage in one of the huts over the water which was great. They are happy to custom build a massage to suit you. Then we used the spa facilities which were a steam room, sauna and plunge pool. We sat out on the decking after the massage with a drink and watched the sun set. Perfect. Buses/bikes. There are plenty of golf cart style buses to transport you around the island which you just flag down. I believe you can order these to pick you up when needed as well. You can also hire bikes but we never felt the need. Water sports. We used snorkels most days. Equipment was well looked after and everything was washed after use in dunk tanks. We used kayaks etc and had a great time. We even tried out a jet ski (for additional charge) and that was hilarious. Great fun. Tipping. Although we never felt like staff were expecting tips at all, we did leave small tips after meals, for maid service etc. One lady who met us on arrival and showed us to our room would not accept a tip which we hope means that staff were well looked after. We only used $US and I'm pretty sure that's all you will need. Mosquitoes. We used the usual repellent body sprays and think we both got one or two bites. They do spray the island regularly and this helps. Excursions. We went on a swim with Whale sharks tour which was incredible. We got some excellent video and photos (on our GoPro camera) of the shark. My partner loved it and couldn't get enough but I must admit I was a little terrified when I saw how big it was. Advice: If you do this excursion (circa 2 or 3 hrs i think) it does get a little rough even on a calm day so if you suffer from sea sickness, take some anti sickness pills. At least half the people felt unwell and some could not stop being sick. I do suffer and felt very sick indeed. Also, even if you are a strong swimmer I would advise taking them up on their offer of a flotation device. A lot of us were exhausted after a while and struggled to get back to the boat which seemed to keep drifting further away. Weather: We were there for the last week in November 2016. We did have a couple of days at the start where it rained a lot and a lot of cloud. The rain tends to come down heavy then disappear as fast as it arrived. At first, we were fine with the recurring showers and it didn't stop us having a great time, of course it is still very warm. At one point, we were walking back to our room after breakfast and it pelted down. We were up to our shins in water but we saw the funny side and carried on. After the second day, we felt like perhaps there would be nothing to do if it kept raining. After all it is a beach holiday. Thankfully it brightened up and the weather was gorgeous after that. Nothing to do? We did wonder if there might be nothing to do for a week but we were very wrong. There is plenty to explore if you look and many hidden surprises. I won't spoil anything here. They do lots of activities like yoga, coffee making, cocktail classes etc. Cinema nights with popcorn and candyfloss which were fun and different themed nights in the buffet restaurant plus sometimes a little light entertainment. Once a week they have a disco night. This was in Cafe Rouge and was a lot of fun. The guy that runs it has apparently been trying to make this happen for a long time but management didn't think it would be wanted. It was great fun chatting with the other guests and we all got quite drunk. I’ve been to other all-inclusive’s where no matter how much you drink you can never get drunk because it’s too watered down. Not here. Kids: We went as a couple so can't comment here but they do have a section with a play area, kids club and were building a small play pool while we were there. I could hear lullabies and stories being played there sometimes and it seemed very pleasant but quiet. There weren't many kids at this resort at all and I wondered if the ones that were, might be a bit bored. Wifi: This worked very well all over the island. Log in once and no problems at all. I was able to watch youtube with no problems so it must have been fairly fast. Overall, I could not recommend this place enough. Go all-inclusive as the menus were very expensive. If you can, definitely opt for a seaplane transfer. Our travel agent messed ours up and we had to get another chartered flight from Male to another island, then a speedboat. The speedboat was great but having to wait a few hours for a cramped and very hot plane when we were not repaired really got us off to a bad start. This was nothing to do with the hotel though.
"Best holiday ever "
We stayed here for our honeymoon in October 2016 and were completely blown away by the incredible service, food and facilities available. All of the restaurants (especially East market) were of outstanding quality and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. We only wish we could afford to go again this year! Definitely the best resort we have ever been too and we couldn't recommend more highly.
