We arrived at around 9am and got the room immediately. The hotel was beautiful and clean, the room was huge. The wi-fi worked well in the room. The staff was very helpful and friendly. You will most probably end up using taxis as Muscat is not very suitable for walking so the location is not that important.
"Will be a great hotel when rooms are refurbished"
Close to being an exceptional hotel. Too many things to say about what is good, suffice to say that nearly everything is at least good and many aspects are excellent. In particular the club room staff are the best we have encountered in many IHG properties, the leisure facilities are exceptional, food & beverage, whilst expensive, is good. Public areas are spotlessly clean and staff in general are friendly,m efficient & courteous What lets the hotel down are two things. 1 - the rooms, whilst clean and have comfortable beds, are old and very dated. 2 Housekeeping is inconsistent and very varied in its performance, one day one towel, one day no towels, one day shampoo, one day no shampoo etc etc. One day a turn-down service, then none for three days, i could go on. Sort this out and with the fabulous new rooms to complement everything else, and you have a truly 5 star hotel in Muscat . If your staying here ask to see Room 315 the show room with all the new improvements of the refurbished room - the duty manager will be proud to show it to you - you will be impressed.
"Winter Break from UK"
We arrived very early for check-in 07:00 and were directed straight to the club lounge. We were greeted at the Club Lounge and offered a drink and invited us to take breakfast while a room was made available due to the hotel being fully booked the previous night. As a IHG Spire Elite member we were fully recognise, received welcome points and had an apology that they could not offer a room upgrade at that time and they would get back to us when they were able to. This they did but we declined their offer to the move due to being already settled into our room. The room was spacious and clean with a mountain view which were in the distance, Room and bathroom were stocked and serviced daily and turn down with chocolates each night. The bed was very comfortable with a choice of pillows. We had booked the club lounge which offered compliantly breakfast (which could be taken either within the club lounge or main restaurant), afternoon tea which was very refreshing and different choices each day, served on cake and stands. In the evening there is a cocktail hour (Lasts two hours) which offered a good choice of drinks canapés. There are other restaurants, Traders & Tomato but we did use any of these. There is a lovely freeform swimming pool area, a kid’s pool and second pool for those who like to do lengths as exercise. The pool area is attended by wonderful staff and supplying cool boxes with bottled water to your sun bed which are plentiful. A gate from the grounds lead s to a sandy beach, slight clamber over rocks to access the clean sand. The beach and promenade is Ideal for a stroll in the evening. There is also health club on site. The whole hotel is very clean with wonderful staff and a great location for a holiday. We saw some of the most wonderful sunsets from the Club Lounge windows most nights. There is building works going on to the entrance to the hotel and new hotel complexes next door at present but the noise was very minimal and did not distract us. There are choice of restaurants and coffee houses just out the hotel entrance a long with the big red bus stop.
Nice place to chill at tiki and I love it. Best hospitality and leisure place. EspeciLly Supervisor John and his staff Hannah. They are the best out there. I'm regular here. Nice weather now and will recommend to those who are planning to visit Muscat. Don't forget to visit John and Hannah. I have been coming here for swimming as well. Pool attendances kamal Ali Basker they are superb. I used to dine in at tomato as well. Manager Geeta sabu they are well trained. Mary Diane are always smiling. Keep it up guys. Thumbs up for all of you.
"Intercontinental Muscat Central and Reliable"
For us the Intercontinental did the job. We required a hotel with reliable facilities and that's what we got. We can't afford the Chedi nor the Al Bustan Palace so we picked the Intercontinental which was half the price. Really, it's a businessman's hotel but with that you get all the facilities and service you need. This is not high luxury or 'boutique' but the room was clean and bed kingsize and comfy. Fluffy towels and everything worked. As Ambassador member the upgrade put us on the 'Club' floor which was worth the difference. Good 'happy hour' in the evening with very good nibbles and gratis drinks. Very helpful Club staff with a special thank you to 'Joan' and her colleagues who made our stay a pleasure. Three cheers for them! Our upgraded room was into a 'partial' sea view but this overlooked the car park which was being renovated. The balcony doors were locked and no furniture on the balcony so not an asset really. We ate at 'TraderVic's' which was not bad at all for a chain hotel restaurant and had a pleasant lunch at the 'Tomato' bistro by the pool. The pool area is very acceptable with as many fresh pool towels as you require and all is kept clean. The breakfast was true Intercontinental style with pretty well every known food to man available and fresh. So, as long as you can get a good rate, and particularly if you can upgrade to the Club floor you should be OK at this hotel. There are upgrades going on currently so car parking is a bit haphazard. If there is valet parking we didn't see it happen in practice. I am sure this will be a nicer hotel in twelve months from now.
