"Stunning minimalist oasis but pricey"

I stayed 2 nights here and had a lovely room overlooking a pool. This hotel has a stunning ambience, very serene, green, with beautiful architecture. It never felt crowded, and has a feeling of a series of buildings in an oasis. The breakfasts are fine, slightly less local fare than I was hoping. All the usual buffet favourites. Staff throughout are well trained and courteous. I was treated well although solo traveller eg given a very good table for dinner at "Beach" restaurant. My room had a very comfy bed, although if travelling as a couple be aware the dressing area/room entry/bathroom vanity is merged into one space which is efficient but could feel crowded. I was on my own so this didn't bother me. My room had a sofa and coffee table too, handy for putting shopping and travel stuff on. Note to shop around on price: I pre-booked in about July a room for 2 nights here for just after Christmas, and paid an absolute premium. However a friend of mine booked much later for 4 days in early January, got a room for 1/3 of the price and was then upgraded to a villa. So perhaps hunt around for a deal. I would stay again but not at rack rates which in retrospect were hard to justify. Still, would recommend highly.

"9 days at The Chedi"

Positives: the hotel is very stylish and modern - the grounds are extensive and set out in a very relaxing style. There are 3 pools, and the photos on their website are a perfect reflection of the layout - very chilled. The staff are amazing, so polite / cannot do enough for you. Our room was upgraded on arrival and it is truly amazing - cannot fault the room in any way. We used the gym extensively; I think a few more running machines would be beneficial as these were constantly in use. Negatives: The beach is disappointing and you needed to get up very early to get a poolside sunbed

We expected this to be the highlight of our holiday... what a disappointment. First of all, we traveled with one child age 12, and were not allowed to use the beautiful pools you see on the pictures all over the internet. We had to use another pool at the back of the property. So 4 adults were highly frustrated and no exception were made for us. Secondly our rooms had no outside area to be in, it felt like being in a prison as soon as you entered the room. Which is sad because the design of the room is really special and well done. Lastly we ate there on both nights and the food was not up to standards to the quality of such a hotel. Breakfast has a huge offering and does deliver the 5 star feel.

"Beyond Fabulous"

Staying at the Chedi we did not want to leave. The hotel facility is very modern and each room is decorated super stylish. The luxurious interior resembles an oasis for pure relaxation. The breakfast buffet was superb and also the dinner (served at the same restaurant) was extravagant and exquisite. The price range is rather high €€€€ but normal for Muscat and the atmosphere. The staff at this hotel I remember to be very helpful and polite. Especially around the main pool area the staff is super nice. There are 2 infinity pools which overlook the emerald sea of the persian gulf. Beautiful! I definitely recommend this hotel for couples and families with children (+16) as the quiet atmosphere makes this unique hotel so wonderful. The spa facility is fabulous and so was the treatment I enjoyed. I will definitely be back. Thank you Chedi Muscat for a *fantastic* accommodation

"5 days in THE Chedi"

We stayed five days at the CHEDI. The Chedi was recommended by a tour operator as an excellent Hotel if one wants yoga and activities. We actually had to book the hotel for five days and the (cheapest) rooms were at 450$ each. We read a lot about the amazing location, facilities and rooms. Location: It is an hotel next to an airport. You have planes passing by all the time. The beach is not that beautiful and no one uses it. Right next to the hotel you have a huge factory. Facilities: That's a real plus of the Chedi! Amazing pools and Gym. However way to less recumbencies. Everyone reserves the recumbencies with towels and we have seen people paying the staff in order to do so. At 10 am there were no more recumbencies available. Room: That was a real disappointment. We knew that we had booked the cheapest room category but still expected a bit more. The promised view (either mountain or sea) did not exist. We faced a concrete wall. The bed was really small. There is not enough stowage space for your belongings as the closet is integrated into the bathroom and the room is small in general. The worst was that you cannot open any windows. Thus the a/c had to stay on and we all got sick at the end. Service: The complimentary activities were not a lot and we only tested yoga (3-4x a week). Yoga was really bad as the teacher was not good. One guest called it fittingly "Indian military gymnastics". For a so called yoga resort disappointing. The staff (everywhere) was way to submissive, we did not feel comfortable any more. The cleaning procedure was really bad though. Given that we were woken up at ¡08:30am! for cleaning. The guy just entered the room. The following days we put the sign at the door. Conclusion: All in all a decent hotel but way to overrated and overpriced (main course [pasta] not cheaper than 40$). We were disappointed by the hotel and happy to have the possibility to get around the city during our stay. We stayed two nights before in Alila jabal al akhdar. That was (for the same price) a completely different experience. Fun staff, amazing complimentary activities (yoga 1-2 times per day, hiking, climbing, discussion talk, cooking classes...) cheaper food, big rooms with balcony and amazing views.
