"Tuska beer "
Flew with Qatar airlines the normal you would expect from big airline except first flight on return very old plane with very poor entertainment and they destroyed one of my cases when we arrived in Zanzibar. Arrived in resort was met by very friendly staff and put in room promptly. The rooms for me and our friends were large and well appointed, huge bed with full mosquito netting around. They were cleaned every day to a good standard. The resort it’s self was very spacious and well kept. Pool bar very quiet and drank them out of tuska in 1 day. The beach bar very good and drank them out of tuska in two days. I found best place for breakfast was in beach side restaurant not as much choice but it is served to you and what a setting for breakfast (drank them out of tuska in two days) the main bar at reception excellent ( drank them out of tuska in two days). I found the food excellent but not a massive choice, it is Africa after all, but more than enough for us. Recommend fish and chips for lunch. Homemade chips and fresh catch of the day for the fish. Special mention for Demir, the newly appointed food and beverages manager, hope i spelt your name right, after explaining they had ran out of tuska within two days of our arrival, apparently still on a boat bobbing around somewhere between Tanzania and Zanzibar,it is Africa after all, he looked after us great very professional. Although Tuska was the best beer you could still get Serengeti and a pilsner. On the whole a great holiday and really well looked after. I would certainly go back
"Excellent food and service, attentive and friendly staff and big thank you to the manager - a true professional!!!"

"Fabulous Relaxing Holiday"
We stayed at the Royal Zanzibar for 7 nights after a week's safari. It's a place where you can really relax and chill. The staff at the hotel are so happy to help and nothing is too much trouble for them. We had a Junior Suite which over-looked the sea and from the balcony could watch the sunset go down . It was a very spacious room and had everything you could ask for. The bathroom was superb. Thoroughly recommend to upgrade if you can. A special thanks to the Lachezar Dimitrov the Food & Beverages Manager who ensured everything ran smoothly and showed tremendous hospitality to all his guests. He has a great team working for him. We had breakfast and lunch at the beach restaurant (apologies I forget the name), with the evening meal at the main restaurant. The highlight was the beach bbq - a lot of effort had been made by the hotel to move all the chairs and tables onto the beach for an extra special evening eating dinner under the moonlight and right by the waters edge. There are good facilities at the hotel with plenty of pools, good beach access, fitness area and spa (particularly enjoyed the hot stone massage!) The only downside (and not the hotel's fault) was guests getting up at ridiculously early times to "bag" their sunbed when there was no intention to use it until late afternoon. Really quite unnecessary when you analyse the time people actually used the sunbeds - quite simply if everyone only reserved the beds when they needed it there were plenty to go round. All in all a great place to stay and would thoroughly recommend.
"A big hotel complex on the Indian Ocean."
After travelling along dusty bumpy driveway the hotel reception was a pleasant surprise. The staff at the hotel were all very friendly although I would have preferred a few less "Hakuna Matatas"! When you have tried to get a gin and tonic and for the 3rd night and you have been told that they don't have any tonic you don't want to be told Hakuna Matata! Our room was very large and reasonably well equipped but looked tired in places. The mirror was rusty and the silver was coming off the back and the toilet seat was discoloured and scratched and very cheap. On the last night we returned to our room to find water cascading down the stairwell and the maid mopping the floor. Evidently a pipe to the bidet had sprung a leak. Our shoes and a bag had got very wet. We did not receive an apology and the people at reception had no knowledge of the problem. Is it really necessary for guests to wear those annoying hospital style bracelets, I took mine off and nobody noticed. Also why did the all inclusive drinks stop at 11.00 pm, I don't drink that much but we were on holiday! The grounds were well laid out and the pools were lovely, very large and very few people. As with most hotels there were probably enough loungers but they were reserved with towels and books most of the time, so very few free loungers. The food in the restaurants was very good and the service friendly and efficient. We returned to our room on our last night to find water cascading down the stairwell and the maid mopping our water in our room, evidently a pipe to the bidet had sprung a leak. We were due to be collected to go to the airport at 4.30 pm but we had to leave our room at 10.00 am. We asked to have a late checkout and we were told that this may be possible for US $200! As we were already entitled to food and drink we considered this to be ridiculous. We were then told that there would be a shower and changing facilities available but when we asked to use it we were told that the Spa shower was the one one available. Not only was this very open for anybody walking past but after having a shower you had to walk the whole length of the hotel complex in the sun, carrying your bags, to get to the reception by which time you were hot and sweaty again. Why can't they provide a simple changing room with a shower near to the reception or make a sensible late check out charge?
Stayed here for 2 weeks. So relaxing. Staff are so friendly. Place is massive and so many pools to choose from. Great service all round. Can't fault this resort. Still in its baby years as its only starting to gain the tourists to the country, but would def recommend for a chilled out relaxing vacation. Captain Marco polo, can be found on Facebook. He is legit. And will look after you in anything you want to do. He has nothing to do with hotel but we used him for a couple of trips and he looked after us from start to finish.
