"Great location and wonderful service!"
The Anantara Emei Resort is located around 10km from the Emei Railway Station. It is a very nice resort. We arrived at the hotel around 6 in the evening. We were greeted by the concierge and checked in fairly quickly. The staff are very nice and efficient and offered tea for us during the check-in process. We dined at their restaurant which offered a variety of local delicacies and some western dishes. The room are clean and the amenities were adequate. I must say their service have exceeded my expectation. They are diligent and gave us a lot of support when we require transportation to the mountains and to the airport. Well done!
"Lovely stay with great service"
This resort used to be managed by Anantara, hence, the tropical theme of the place. Nonetheless, it has retained its excellent service, there are even handful of staff who speak English and others are learning, which is a good sign. Rebecca, the Duty manager, was extremely helpful and she took the effort to write out instructions in English and Chinese for our unguided journey up Mount Emei. The restaurant serves good local dishes featuring pork and beef. Breakfast was okay too, serving intercontinental breakfast as well as local porridge and soup noodles. Location wise, this resort is a short drive from the base of Mount Emei, i.e. the ticketing /bus station and tourist shopping street. The taxi ride costs about 10RMB+.
"Tropical themed resort hotel near Emei Shan"
The resort is owned/managed by Thailand's Anantara luxury hotels group hence the tropical theme, never mind that this is in a mountainous area of China, and it's winter and wet and dreary. We chose it as it's the only international brand hotel near Emei Shan/Mountain, which we were visiting the next morning. The hotel opened in 2014, although why it's not listed on Anantara's official website I don't know - the hotel seemed legit though. We paid a little more for a Lake View room although I think a Garden view room would have been fine - especially when you're unlikely to be sitting out on the balcony and the lake isn't particularly scenic anyway (it's the property's own small lake). This time of year there are few guests though and the sprawling hotel was sadly empty. Nevertheless the service and standards were up to the mark. We wanted to try out the spa and massage, however the masseuse was not available for the day - I guess in the off season you need to book in advance. The rates for massages were steep in any case. We had dinner at the Chinese restaurant, the food was good, although we were the only table occupied. Location wise it's not in the heart of Emei Shan city below the mountain but in a quieter area, so you can't really walk to the town centre. By car to the entrance of the mountain was about 10 mins.
"Good exploration base to Emei Shan"
Mixed review about this hotel! + liked the facilities, our kids loved their kids club which had long and flexible hours and was the perfect place to practice their mandarin, lovely staff there, chinese food ( noodles, hot pots, ...) is far superior than the western one, big resort so you don't feel overcrowded, rooms are quite large and they all have an nice terasse. - except for a few staff ( Jenny thank you) no one really speaks English fine we always managed at the end - western food is a bit soggy and flavorless - only one restaurant was open - no activities for adults (yoga...) and gym was still under construction
"Quiet, beautiful and still at 3 km from the mountains"
The place is wonderful, most of the staff can not say more then hello or goodbye in english, but it is still a wonderful place. Of course is a new area made of new buildings, restaurants, wide roads and newly planted trees. Good to relax, but if you search the flavour of Sichuan, stay in any hotel in Emeishan mountain base. This resort is just another similar to many in the world. The good news is that is 10 min walk from a food court area. Gym is ok, breakfast good, rooms are huge and you can still walk around to the nearby area.
