"Our 2nd home in Kota Kinabalu!"
Firstly, let me begin by telling saying how wonderful it was staying at this hotel. The room and facilities were fantastic especially the one we were in, 1117, which had a full height window facing Pulau Gaya which was gorgeous to look at. We hardly watched the television as we just stared at the scenery. Secondly, every one of their staff made us feel very welcome with their warm smiles and they were always ready to help and quick to act on each one of our requests. Thirdly, the F&B was fantastic! It was as good as if not better than most 5-star rated hotels/resorts. I normally shy away from ordering room service as the prices are sky high and portions are small. But, when my mother got hungry and too tired to leave the very comfortable bed, I decided to order. To my surprise, the prices were very affordable and the portions were even too much for us to finish...enough for 2 people! Lastly, as my mother is in a wheelchair. It was so convenient that the hotel is in The Suria Mall where we could just go around and hang out. However, it's very unfortunate that the mall wasn't like IMAGO. I have been telling everyone about our wonderful experience at The Grandis and will making her our second home in Kota Kinabalu!
I had a bit of a problem locating the entrance to the hotel, however with a quick call to the hotel, it was pretty easy to find. The hotel lobby was so so. Not very impressive. The entrance forgettable. However, the minute one goes up to the upper goes that house the rooms or the restaurants everything chances. Everything upstairs is so impressive. It is 5 star all the way. The hotel has one of the widest corridors I have ever seen. The rooms are spacious and every well appointed. My only gripe was the fact that the bathrooms seemed a little too dark for my liking. The service here is impeccable. The staff are all every well trained and go out of their way to be helpful. Every friendly. I highly recommend this hotel. Oh... And did I mention the beautiful view of the sea from my room?
"Great Family Getaway Hotel"
On the positive side: Reservation at Grandis Hotels & Resorts is pretty simple. I made a call in the evening of 16th November 2016 after finding the hotel reservations are fully booked online and was greeted by ANNIE who went thru the database to check my previous record. In less than two minutes, everything was done and the reservation was confirmed. With a large King size bed and two single beds, the Deluxe Family room is always my favourite. The room is able to accommodate five of us conveniently (Parents with three young children). And by choosing the room with free breakfast for four persons, this room certainly worth all the money you paid for. Since the WiFi is free of charge, my children are happily entertained with their gadgets. The integration with Suria Sabah Shopping Mall is a very attractive feature for my other half. This enables her to peek over various items in the Mall and take back most of them into the hotel. Restaurants are abundant and you will never be running out of delicious delicacies. Fast food lovers will not be losing out of appetite either – great choices of international franchise restaurants such as KFC, Pizza Hut et al at the basement of Suria Sabah. The Drawback: The parking lot is only available at Suria Sabah Shopping Mall, which is not directly accessible to the hotel. Hence, it is not offered as part of the hotel facility. The Patrons have to pay for the entrance ticket, which is expensive for overnight parking @ RM$22 on average. The solution is to get a car park along the roadside just in front of the hotel which is chargeable @RM5 per 3 hours from 9am onwards via the Jockey Parking System but will be free of charge at night after the Mall is shut down – it is unlikely though for you to get an empty space before 10pm. And the worse case scenario is that the Suria Sabah Mall is closed at 10pm. When you park your car within the Mall at 11pm just like we did on Friday’s night, the 18th of November 2016, there is no way for you to get out of the shopping complex unless you drive back out of the Mall and pay RM$3 for the entrance fee. Some of the traditional cakes/foodstuffs at Rosea Café, Level 1 of Grandis Hotels and Resorts become non consumable during the breakfast as some have been hardened. And the RM$87 per person for the buffet in the evening is not very worthy indeed. Most of the food items such as prawns, fishes, muttons or lambs, and others are running out at 20:00 hours [8pm] and no top up are available thereafter. At least on Saturday night of the 19th of November, a drunken patron was able to wake us up near the middle of the night as he mistakenly knocked over our door intermittently.
"Enjoy and great location"
3minit walking distance to Jessolton Jetty point , 5 minit walking distance to Philippine market. the staff and hotel is nice. Buffet breakfast plenty of choices and seaview. Enjoy our trip there. that is a little problem , this hotel doesn't provide parking, so we have to park at Suria sabah shopping mall, as charge RM10 per day. the swimming pool is small.
"Good location and sunset view"
Satisfied with the hotel services but disappointed with only for the late checkout. I have informed the hotel I will be checking out late for 1pm due to a meeting in central KK and when I returned to my hotel room they blocked my key card when I return at 12 noon thus I cant enter my room. I have to called the hotel operator from the 10th floor lift lobby and told me to re-activate my card again from the front desk at ground floor. and I only have like 30 minutes to pack my clothes into my bag and again.. 10 minutes before 1pm they rang my door bell to chase me out. Good hotel location but... not a good experience for me.
