Sabah’s hoofdstad Kota Kinabalu biedt zowel moderne winkelcentra als authentieke marktjes. U kunt zich hier prima (laten) onderdompelen in de Maleisische cultuur en de benodigde souvenirs kopen.
Me and my best friend stayed here for 3 night altogether. Just left today. It was amazing. The staff were lovely and facilities worthy of 5 star hotel. Food in the bar was good but nothing spectacular. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I will miss all the smiling faces and amazing cocktails. Thank you grandis for making our stay a memorable experience :)
"Great hotel "
The hotel is well maintained in a great location. Added bonus of pool and bar area. Staff very friendly and helpful. Has room service available which turned out to be helpful. Would certainly recommend to others.
"Great Conference Facility"
I recfently attended an Asia / Pacific conference at the Hotel Grandis and stayed there for 6 nights. Both the room and conference facilities were excellent. There was a bit of a mixup with our booking (Our own mixup - not the hotel's) but the manager at the front desk (Tracy) was excellent in sorting out the mix up. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly - well conversant in English. The food on the 1st floor restaurant was of a high quality. I would definitely recommend.
"Would definitely recommend this hotel"
My experience with Hotel Grandis was very positive. Room was very spacious and clean and my room did have a side view of the ocean. I had booked through Expedia.com and thought I got a good price but found out that the price did not include breakfast so had to pay an additional $12 CAD a day for breakfast. However, it was worth it. The buffet breakfast with a variety of choices from Indian-Chinese dishes to the more traditional western dishes of sausages and eggs, waffles, etc.. Contrary to other reviews I've read on here re the buffet, there were no long line-ups, and the servers were very efficient and polite. The bright dinning room had a very pleasant view of the ocean. The roof-top swimming pool was rather small but that was not an important feature to me as I don't normally use hotel pools. I had to solicit the help of the techie person in the hotel re format of a movie I had made for an event held at the hotel and he (sorry can't remember his name) was extremely cordial and helpful and had all the right connections to connect my laptop to the hotel projector. Last, but not least, the hotel location is excellent. It is connected to a shopping mall which has a food court upstairs. It is also within walking distance to another mall (Merdeka) and the Filipino market which sells fresh and sea water pearls and local souvenirs. The hotel will provide airport transportation but there is a fee for this so I'm going to put "no" in the questionnaire below.
"Great Location, Great staff!"
We booked this hotel through booking.com. The hotel is connected with the shopping mall, there is a cut through access on the 1st floor where the restaurant and lounge bar is located. Everywhere has security guards so its really safe. Its a convenient location, 3 minutes walk from Jesselton point where you can go island hopping. The gaya street market (sunday) is about 5 minutes walk away. Since its busy during the gaya market, but be aware of pick pockets. The area is nice, if you want to go else where, getting a taxi would be easy. The taxis are cheap so its not too much trouble, it cost us 30 ringit for 2 of us from the airport to the hotel which was about £6 for a 20 minute drive. The staff are very helpful and very welcoming. Always smiling and helped us when we had any troubles. My partner planned a surprise proposal for me on our last night of the stay and the staff helped him so much to plan this amazing night. We was really looked after. Its a really chilled paced area so don't expect fast service, but then again you are on holiday so why the rush? The rooms are very big, we only got the basic room but it was huge and the bed was massive. The breakfast was amazing, there was a variety of foods, you'll find something you like and the staff were all nice. Prices in the hotel is very cheap considering its a hotel, room service is a must, we ordered a 3 course meal and a drink for both of us and it costs us around £18, bargain. The rooftop bar is amazing, you get a really good view of the islands and they have live music on friday, saturday, and sunday, with no entrance fee. Overall, this is a great hotel and managed very well. The hotel and the room was very clean and i would definitely come back if we were to come back kota kinabalu.
