"Great service at this luxury hotel"

   07-12-2016
We stayed for 12 days end Nov to early Dec 2016 in a Princess Suite overlooking the pool and ocean. The service and food were outstanding. Every member of staff was happy, keen to help, had time for you, and was top notch. Breakfast and dinner were lovely. The room was huge and immaculate. The hotel is only a few years old and it shows. It is only 15 minutes from the airport by taxi, and the rates are fixed across the island. We went to the nearby cable car (steepest in the world, 5 minutes away) and market, on a day trip in the mangrove forest and swimming in the ocean, and a day trip snorkeling (with sharks). The two days trips were organised by the hotel and prices were similar to "street" prices but you have the benefit of towels, water and the trip just goes on your bill. There is some work going on to the side of the hotel. It's all done behind some huge covers. There is some noise during the day, but not loud and you soon tune out. Agree with all the reviews on this, it is nothing to worry about. We loved it here and were very sad to leave.

"Excellent"

   07-12-2016
After a delightful 3-night stay in The Danna, I can now say that it deserves the great ratings in this site. The Danna offers polite and friendly service, delightful ambience, pretty pool, clean beach, spacious room and good food. It is located about 15-mins drive away from the international airport and 10-mins drive away from the famous Langkawi cable car and sky bridge. It is also quite near to the Telaga Tujuh waterfall. Upon arrival, we were well taken care off. We were ushered to the waiting area to sit down, given a 3-mins shoulder massage and welcome drink, while the staff helped to do the administrative stuff. Our room was superb. Spacious and well equipped, with two wardrobes, and two toilet sinks. The sink was not that kids-friendly, though. For families, there is a kids' club that is well stocked with various toys and games. There are activities lined up too. But too bad it was empty when we were there, therefore no activity was conducted. Pool area was great, with different depths. Staff were always ready to lend a hand with setting up the seats, providing towels and getting drinks. Breakfast buffet was satisfying as well. Great spread, tasty food, good service. However, there is room for improvement on the variety of dishes. For 3 mornings, we saw very little variations. Outdoor seatings by the pool are popular - there are only a few tables.

"5* luxury with a quaint guest house feel"

   06-12-2016
A 5* luxurious hotel with an old school colonial feel and guest house atmosphere. From check in, where we sat comfortably on the sofas and received a complementary shoulder massage, all the way through to a swift, friendly and caring checkout 6 nights later - and everything in between - this hotel is excellent. My husband and I stayed here with our 16 month old daughter in late November in between trips to Singapore and KL and it was the highlight of our holiday. The hotel rooms are spacious, spotless, light, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The bathrooms all have his and her sinks, big bathtubs and waterfall showers. Because of its location, balcony views are all nice. The staff are extremely polite, professional, and helpful, but not at all overbearing. The breakfast is of a high quality. We were able to relax and unwind without feeling the need to venture out of the hotel. Most nights we ate at the hotel restaurant and found the prices to be quite standard, or indeed affordable given that its a 5* hotel. We looked forward to evening meals in the hotel as the table was always set for our little one with her own plastic plate, cut and cutlery. I was worried it would be full of honeymooners and we would feel out of place with a toddler but we felt right at home! Afternoon tea was lovely too! We had a problem with our noisy AC in our 4th floor room, which we complained about after 2 nights, and were swiftly moved into an upgraded room on the same floor. Two small negatives - the spa was overpriced and the pedicure I had was not one of the best, and the short walk to the beach area and behind the swimming pool is not baby friendly.

"Top Notch Hotel"

   06-12-2016
By far the best hotel we've ever stayed. I'm a sucker for quality in services when it comes to luxury hotels, as compared to my other half, and my minimum expectations are always stringent. But this hotel just blew way pass all the minimums. The moment we arrived at their foyer after a long flight, we were greeted by their doorman and valet. Everything was served - from parking to luggage, check ins and tour around the hotel - and we weren't even away from our refreshments and towels during the check in process. The 3 mins welcoming massage was excellent and also a fresh idea to promote their spa, which I find it reasonably priced. We got an upgrade to a Grand Merchant with 2 balconies with a hill and marina view respectively. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. The night rest was excellently plush and quiet. Room service was prompt. It took about 15 mins for them to get the ironing board and iron to our room. Breakfast buffet was good and the seats were well spaced out. There are indoor and outdoor dining areas, and we tried both. Preferable to be inside for now if you do not wish to be bothered by a few flies as there are construction going on just beside the pool/dining area. Just nitpicking on upgrades like TV, channels and installation of bedside USB ports are greatly appreciated. We had the most wonderful stay in Langkawi. A big THANK YOU to all the staff who have helped to make our honeymoon a beautiful and memorable stay. Apologies we couldn't spell out each and everyone of your names who have made it possible. But we definitely remember your faces when we return. Honeymoon on 25-28 November 2016 (Room 317) Side note: I still couldn't find room 316. HEHEHE!!

"Excellent hotel and service"

   04-12-2016
From the moment we walked through the doors the service was exceptional. On arrival we were presented with a refreshment and wet cloth. To my surprise we received a 5 minute shoulder massage. This was very good after a 8 hour journey. Not seen this in any other hotel I have stayed in. The concierge then proceeded to give us a tour of the hotel and facilities before showing us to our room and explaining features. Food wise we mixed things up. The first night we were so tired that we just wanted to eat in the hotel. We had food in the Verandah bar. The food was excellent. We had the indian meal option. The next night we had food at the local food market which was a culinary experience. During our weeks stay we eat in Planters restaurant in the hotel where we tried the Malaysian Wedding feast. This was incredible but be warned you will need space to fit in the vast amount of food. We also tried the barecue in Planters which was good as well with a buffet service. We had food out in Cenang beach area a few times, notably the Cliff, Thirstday and Yellow Cafe. All were good. Food prices were not too different from the hotel but the setting on the beach was good in all these places. Getting to Cenang Beach is definitely a taxi ride costing 30 Ringgit and taking approximately 20 minutes. We had food in Straits & Co the final day and again the food was amazing. The quality of the food served in the hotel was exceptional and better than any restaurants outside. The prices were good as well which is why we had food in the hotel the majority of the time. The pool is the largest in Langkawi and is an infinity pool. All I can say is that it was brilliant. The sunbeds were comfortable. The service was really good the majority of the time. You would walk out choose an area and the staff would setup the sunbed with towels and bring you two cold bottles of water. During the day there were a few surprise extras that I have not seen in any hotel. The staff would come around and provide complimentary ice creams, soft drinks, samosa or Malaysian pastry and also clean your sun glasses. A very nice touch. My only complaint would be that on off weather days there was not as much staff visible and it would be hard to get there attention for ordering drinks and food. Booking tours was really straightforward. We spoke to the concierge and booked the Mangrove Kayaking and Island Jet skiing tour. There is loads to do on the island but in the lead-up to our stay here we had already done plenty so we wanted to relax a bit. This is why we chose the two best tours. My favorite was the Jet Skiing. It is a must. The spa was too expensive so we did no use. It is about double the price of outside. We used the gym several times which is adequate. Located in a quieter area near the harbour. For us this was great as all we wanted to do was relax. It is not far from the more busier area of Cenang Beach. An amazing hotel that I would recommend to anyone.
