"Beautiful place in a wonderful setting"

Me and my family with two smaller kids (4 and 6) had a family room for 2 nights. It was clean and had good space. A nice porch towards the forest Where the monkeys visited once or twice. We loved it! The restaurant was good with Breakfast buffet and ok varaity of dishes. A bit pricy for what was actually served, but still decent. We did som excursions booked from the resort. They were good! The jungle trek and canopywalk for 3 hours was great, but hard work for our children. The center Said it was no problem, but not sure all 4 year loss walk 6-7 kilometers ( some of it climbing) without any nagging.... i am a bit sad to see that an environmentfriendly place like this still offer toilettries in the rooms and gives out bottled water at excursions. A better system with offer to always full up bottles and free water at the restaurant would be great! Overall, it is definately worth the extra money to stay here!

"A perfect and amazing place to enjoy the real nature and meet local people with their legendary smile and big heart...."

hi everyone,Im french so ,i hope you will understand what i write..I been in Taman Negara in Oct 16,I been alone for my trip.I rented a room at Mutiara Resort..This resort is close, close to the jungle very close, each morning ,you wake up and you can enjoy the nature directly from your window...Mutiara resort is an amazing place, for all budget, you can rent a room with low price, and chalet for a more comfort, more luxurious...I stayed in a dorm, because i didn t need more comfort,it was really enough, the room was perfectly clean, toliets and shower too,the staff clean it everyday (and with the smile),and the bed very comfortable, they give you towel,soap...perfect..the last night i slept in a chalet,it was amazing!beautiful, nice ,each details was perfect, big luxe, the bathroom, the bed,the terass ,with view on the jungle..the decoration ,amazing..they think about everything, coffee, umbrella, fridge, shampoo, soap, towel ect...perfectly..Each morning i been to take my breakfast at the mutiara restaurant, and waouu!!!a big buffet!!everything you want they have, and the food is really good ,coffee ,tea ,juice, very good (sometimes in some part of asia, you can t found a good coffee),they have local food, european ,american food.each morning i enjoyed a lot the breakfast..i was like a kid with a buffet..and the view on the river when you take your breakfast,is amazing..each morning i enjoyed it.About the staff of Mutiara resort, they are extremly competent, all of them they work with a huge smile,They are completely available for each question,I was surprised because they are very competent for informations about the national park..If you have any questions ,you ask them, they are ready to answer to you...they are extremly friendly..Their smile, their politeness, their availability, are just perfect to enjoy your trip...They are really nice and friendly people..I been in many resort or hotel in asia, believe me not all the staff are like them..something very funny,i heard some european tourists (french too!!),make a complain about some gueko in their chalet!!come on !!!you are from 1 meter to the jungle!!!!!!if they is some small animal;it s completly normal!!!!otherwise there is something wrong in the nature!i want to say a huge thank you to the team:Sabri Abdullah, the manager,Mdm Itan,Mija,Alia,Wana ,all of the team, you are just perfect, you are amazing, and very nice people. Thanks a lot..My trip was perfect..I will come back for sure and very soon!i love this place Taman Negara and Mutiara resort one of my best moment in Asia..I hope my comment will help you to choose the best place to enjoy Taman Negara..Don t hesitate ,just go and enjoy alone or with your freinds, with your children..enjoy!!!

"Better than expected "

After reading the bad reviews we were pleasantly surprised. Our chalet was clean, roomy and with good air con. The restaurant food was good with plenty of choice. Make sure you drive down to the river as plenty of parking and easy access to cross the river with suitcases. When you are the other side your suitcase get taken up on a cable trolley. Staff all very pleasant and speak good English. After reading some of the reviews i do think they are a bit unfair, saying that they could improve a few things without too much trouble, like getting the leaves off the top of the veranda rooftops. There are plenty of activities we went on a hike which included the canopy walk, our guide was very knowledgeable and explained a lot about the rainforest. Two nights is plenty and definitely worth doing, there seems to be quite a few bed and breakfasts and restaurants on the other side of the river also.

"Peaceful, rustic, green, pleasant."

A very rustic collection of chalets, in the forest within walking acces to the canopy walk and in sight of the river. Very pleasant with very friendly staff and great scenery. Good for anyone who wants to go for long walks in the Malaysian forest and or wants to take a boat ride through the jungle. The chalets are old as is the complex and there is no internet in the chalets which is probably a plus!...(wireless is available at the restaurent) Good to get away from the rat race for a weekend if you ask me! A three hour plus drive from KL with half the journry on B roads and the last 50 KM on very winedy roads - watch out for cows on the road at night!. There is a secure parking place ten minutes walk from the jetty, RM 5 per night and you will need to boat across to the hotel for RM 1 per head. All in all a very pleasent, friendly and rustic hotel and I would certainly go back again. Great walkways into the jungle and well maintained.

"Not delivering on expectations, very poor service"

There is some charm to this hotel: the little chalets, the monkeys, ... It is located in the park (meaning, accross the 2minute boat ride from the "main land"). But that's about it. The chalets themselves are in desperate conditions, filthy (dust on the floors, spider webs, dead insects), moldy. The furniture is stained, bedding quality below average,... Toiletries are never replenished and of very poor grade anyway, and the towels provided would be used to dry the floors in my house. They can give a good body scrub actually. The restaurant has the same levels of cleanliness than the rooms. Flies everywhere on the buffet. Trays are not replenished enough. The food from the buffet is very disappointing, especially in comparison to the much nicer orders we could see coming out of the kitchen. Staff is extremely lazy. They simply don't care. You can wait at the reception area, the girl will be on her phone texting without any second thought. People not staying at the hotel will actually walk in the middle of the chalets, on their way to the park. Be very careful with your belongings. We paid for one of their exploration packages. The price we paid for the accomodation, activities, services and food is RIDICULOUS. I guess it's the "best" hotel around, but that does not mean it is a good place in the grand scheme of things.
