Over Mutiara Taman Negara Resort

"Retreat from the city"
It's situated beside the river banks right inside the forest. No worries if you have luggage as there's a trolley pull up that will be managed by the hotel staff. When you check in at the counter, you will be greeted with a complimentary drink and fresh cold towel. Stayed here in December 2017 and booked a Family Chalet. There are few activities that can be done here but permit is needed and you can purchase them from the Park Ranger office. We only did a few activities there. Firstly is the canopy walk which is quite a distance from the hotel. It's only open if there is no rain to prevent unwanted incident and they are only open till 5pm. We also went for night trekking which is just behind the hotel. There are pathways but torchlight is a must as it's complete darkness. Get a tour guide if you need as we didn't engage one and just go on our own and just walk blindly and missing those explanations but you can join in some other groups that do engaged one. If you are lucky, you might find one or two fireflies flying around. Another activity that can be done is rapid shooting is a must in which the boatmen will bring you to cruise along the river against the rapid stream and will bring you to visit the aboriginal settlements. Do be warned that you will be extremely wet so do bring a dry bag to place all your belongings inside. For meals, you can dine at the hotel's restaurant or just cross over the river to eat at the floating restaurant by the river bank but they are not open for dinner.
"Carry on Glamping"
This was my husband’s favourite stay out of the six we did on our Thailand & Malaysia holiday. I was not so keen (hence the score), as I felt as though some of the jungle critters were sharing our log cabin (chalet) at night. Entered into it in the right spirit, this is a unique location. PROS: + riverside location in a beautiful jungle setting + easy access to boardwalk trails and jungle canopy walk + evening a la carte restaurant food is good + on-site shop for snacks, drinks, etc CONS: - inadequate information was provided as to how to get to the property (you have to park on the other side of the river in a public car park and catch a boat with your luggage to the dock that is in front of the hotel [charge 1RM per person per single trip] and then climb about 50 steep steps [luggage is taken up by pulley/rail cart]) - Wi-fi is only available in the restaurant area (but is of reasonable quality considering the remote location) - it’s a bit gloomy inside the chalet, as the lighting is more subtle than utilitarian - gaps in boarded chalet walls meant small bugs could get into the chalet - I noticed a gecko using a wall vent as access to our bedroom area - loud, incessant bird calls through the night (yes, it’s a jungle out there!) In conclusion, a memorable stay, but not one I would wish to repeat.
"Lovely nature retreat and good activities"
We really enjoyed our stay at the Mutiara Taman Negara. The little huts are confortable and blend in the surrounding jungle. The activities were fun and interesting (boardwalk, night walk, river boat and tribe village) and our guide Rahzalee was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our hut was a good trek from the restaurant and we had a lot of rain, but there are umbrellas in the huts. The food was average, but we were here to see the nature and we thoroughly enjoyed the viewing platform near our hut.
"Good experience until the end"
Lovely place, very quaint and had a wonderful time until our trip back to Kuala Lumpur. Transportation was part of our package, but our transport van broke down 100 miles from Kuala Lumpur. We were going to miss our flight. Instead of making other arrangements for us, they left us stranded on the side of the road for 2 hours and we had to flag down our own cab and pay for our transport back to Kuala Lumpur, which we had already paid the resort for. The way it was handled was extremely unprofessional and I'm still waiting on a refund for what we paid for a 100 mile taxi fair. They ruined what was otherwise a great trip with horrible customer service.
"The most therapeutic vacation ever!"
For someone who is critical on Msia hospitality, I’m amazed with how friendly the staff are, the room and sheets are clean, good in the restaurant were good, guides were knowledgeable and helpful. The activities were well planned and organised. What meant to be a quiet retreat turned into a fun-filled one - visit to the aborigines village, hike to the canopy walk but the highlight of the trip is the 45 mins boat ride along the river with the beautiful rainforest as the background. Fully recommended to nature lovers, birdies and hikers. Bring hiking poles, extra clothes to change, binoculars and DSLR camera!
