"Best resort if you want to get away from the troubles of the world"
Beautiful resort with 15 chalets and amazing service. Secluded and best for couples and relax beach holiday. The massage was really good. Breakfast in bed options. No phone service and minimal wifi. Fishing trip is mandatory. Snorkelling would be amazing if not monsoon.
"Boutique with Jungle and Sea"
It's quite hard to describe this 'resort', it probably was once luxury but now in need of some TLC and maintenance. We had a Jungle Luxe Sarang (No 3) which was accessed by a short walk along a wooden walkway and then some steps to our room. Some other room types were quite high up and a lot of steps and into the jungle. The resort looks great with the jungle coming right down to the beach but this does mean so do the monkeys and some other animals. Our room was very spacious with a few odd quirks - like the bathroom being accessed by steps behind the bed, the bed being along way off the floor and not having a safe or dressing / cloths storage area - there was space but you had to remember where you had distributed your cloths. When we arrived our room had a leak from the roof and so some towels were put down to make it non slippery, however no repair was done and ant rain meant water coming into the room. The out door Jacuzzi had dirt sitting on the seating and the roof leaked so the area wasn't useable when raining. Unfortunately lots of negatives that could have been easily fixed, but weren't. The resort had a lovely long beach with some cabanas to sunbath - however these were fully roofed so not sure if you would have got any sun, and they were taken very early in the morning anyway so we used mats and towels on the sand. The house reef was reasonable for snorkelling but lots of 'gaps' between clusters of coral,(Minang Cove much better), but we did see a turtle and quite a few fish. As most reviewers have mentioned Cocktail Hour was one of the best bits of the resort. The food was good and not over priced and I was surprised that when re opened they have 2 restaurants for a resort of only 15 rooms? They also have two pools but one by the main restaurant just looked dirty, the other was fine and had cabanas around it but also visits from some inquisitive monkeys which made my otherhalf feel quite uncomfortable as they made their way onto the decking. A nice resort but needs some investment and 'tidying up'
We had a very pleasant stay at Japamala resort on Tioman Island. The service, accommodation and food were excellent. The cocktail hour on the jetty for sunset a very nice idea (cocktails are served complimentary). Getting to the resort from Singapore takes a while by car and speedboat. The rustic look and eco-friendly philosophy make this resort very special as you don't miss out on comfort. Wifi is not that fast, however if you decide to relax at such a beautiful place it shouldn't be an issue at all.
"Almost feels like a private island "
Gem finds thrill me. This is one good one. A long drive and private speed boat away, the emerald blue greets you with open waves. Japamala's tag line is Rustic-Luxe. And it truly epitomises that. Rustic tree house huts with the smallest beautiful details. A personal jacuzzi and sun deck all make you feel like a Sultan. The heart of the show is the bar and restaurant built out into the sea with cabanas looking out into the azure sea. Cocktails are complimentary from 6-7 pm as the sun departs leaving wisps of orange, amber and pink. Monitor lizards slither away and monkeys watch you from afar in your shower that opens into the forest. You think you're here to watch but you're being watched. By the forest. #eatstylishtravelstylish
"Paradise in the jungle"
We stayed for 10 days and had a fantastic time. There’s an amazing coral reef, accessible from the jetty, and fins, snorkels and goggles are provided free of charge. So many varieties of beautiful tropical fish and coral of many colours. We enjoyed it all with just a snorkel. Walks through the jungle are breathtaking. A unique feature was ‘Happy Hour’, where free cocktails were served at the jetty every night. Free laundry was also provided. However, one of the best parts for us was the extremely friendly and obliging staff. Jay, Fabian and Boy looked after us for meals and the reception staff: Siti, Reevan and Bu were exceptional, catering to our individual needs. Reevan even accompanied us on a jungle walk to the lookout, which was one of the highlights for us. We were made to feel so welcome and were sad to leave. Highly recommended for a relaxing and revitalising holiday!
