"Bliss"

I have never seen such white sand and crystal blue sea. In my opinion this is the best beach on the island . You are situated right beside Sandals. I felt you got the same beach and view as Sandals resort for a fraction of the cost. Food was of very good quality. Green sunset cruise was amazing and we met so many couples at this resort. Great memories. Some rooms only have fans so upgrade to air con. You'll need this.

"Good hotel "

   06-12-2016
Me and my hubby stayed here for 9 night's end of November to beginning of December ,lovely hotel and staff .Firstly the hotel is not far from the airport, about 15 mins . swift check in and a nice cocktail on arrival .Room was basic and in need of renovation, but was ok. Renovation is on going at the hotel but is not a problem.Staff are really nice and will do anything to help you relax and enjoy your holiday. Food was a little basic and repetitive ,mainly at lunch time (burgers, chips ,salad ,fish ) etc ,otherwise good. If you have any food allergies , let them know at reception and they will sort it for you .Beach is a 2 mins walk away from the pool and you can call for a drink at the bar on your way (hehe) .If you smoke there are 2 places you can go, 1 is near the toilets in seating area next to the entertainment stand and the other is at the bottom of arrawak place ,where you go for breakfast .Afternoon tea is between 4/5pm on the pier, this is a must do, as you can watch the sun setting from there and is lovely to watch .Please be aware the hotel opens up to locals on a weekend,my beach towels where taken from near the pool area ,so please take them with you, this was not a fault of the hotel i must say . WiFi is only at the reception area and is a little slow at times .I would stay again .

"Not as good as it should be"

   30-11-2016
I know this is a place for couples and families so I'm not the right demographic. I stated here for two nights in business so had no time for the resort's more fun aspects. This review is about the fundamentals. Firstly, any claim on wifi is overblown; it's only available in the reception area and is incredibly slow. More importantly, the rooms, although clean and comfortable, are not sound proof or particularly private. By this i mean that i heard every conversation in the room next door, and there were visible gaps around the adjoining door. So if you're here to be a "couple" in the physical sense you may want to push a towel into the gaps to prevent onlookers.

"Rest Full and relaxing"

   29-11-2016
My Wife and I traveled Nov. 13th. We chose the Rex Halcyon on price and reviews. This was an Anniversary gift to each other 33yrs. The hotel is easy access from the airport, which is very new and modern. Airport clearance was swift and efficient. The shuttle to the hotels all seem relatively new and comfortable. Check in was OK, we arrived just after noon so rooms had not been readied, went for lunch and a few drinks and room was set up. We had booked BEACH front, which initially we were told ground floor( By air Canada vacations) we received room 382 second floor over looked the beach, Great sun sets each night. The room was sparse and lacked a few included features but a quick visit to the front desk, it all came together by the time we came in from our first afternoon on the beach. The beach was Great, however you will notice a depression at the waters edge from the surf erosion. I am suffering from a bad hip and needed assistance to get up the beach as did many older beach goer's. Or just wait for the biggest wave to throw you bodily ashore. Lol The staff are the "5 Star" of this resort! From our first trip to the bars Dolston and Errol and Heleen are terrific Ambassadors of the resort offering Great service and always ready for friendly conversation. Our first Breakfast we met Orlan, sorry If I missed the spelling I named him "Omelette", he'll definitely remember us. We asked for "grilled tomato" with our egg's the first morning. With out a second request he produced Fresh Grilled Tomato every morning when he saw us arrive and always smiling. His New name Omelette followed him to the Lunch BBQ as he was Chef there most days also. again we can't say enough about the staff! The Beach vendors are your best source of Island history and Info and the hotel should appreciate their value a lot more than they do. I understand tour operators and selling on the beach, but I found Antigua a little different than most Islands we have been too. ALL Antigua beaches are public, so you will get a mix of tourists and locals. The vendors most are local and been selling the beach for years, so they know what's what. A few I would encourage you to seek out are Prudence for a massage, red umbrella just south of the resort on the beach, she'll come to your lounge. Thomas, selling coconut cocktails, has his own perspective on things, Dr sunshine, Kevin also he and his wife have a nice massage business. Michael, Michael can set you up with anything, a little loud but very accommodating and loads of beach and resort history. Evelyn, quiet and stand offish at first but will warm up quick talking about her jewelry and grand kids. I can honestly say these vendors know and respect the Tourists and hotels value to Antigua. The Hotel Management/ security will try and keep them at arms length, but these folks were continually picking up after "thoughtless" guests, picking up cups, plates, napkins packaging beach goers left behind. I saw them bring left behind plates etc. to the bar and be refused a glass of water, they deserve better treatment as far as I'm concerned. The meals are very good, if you are expecting a huge buffet selection, there is not. however food is Good, hot and served in three different areas. the patio is lunch and some dinners, upstairs for breakfast and a dinner, the pier you will get two dinners and high tea. get a railing seat at dinner and enjoy the lights and fish below the restaurant. One thing I would say to management, the lobby has wifi, a piano, lots of seating, it's a gathering place, why during the entire week we were there was the lobby bar closed? We met every night with other guests during the week to get together for meals, check emails play cards. The biggest complaint I heard was the lobby bar was closed. shoulder season guest deserve the same experience as high season, that goes for all hotel services and amenities. I would return, for the beach and staff, the friendships we developed on the beach, the ocean was the warmest we've found, Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!
