Over Hotel Altiplanico Sur

"Great design, great service"
If like us you would prefer not to get taxis, this can be a long walk from Puerto Natales' center. Nevertheless, this is a really well-located hotel with some beautiful views out on the water and the mountains behind it. I believe all of the rooms also face the water so the views are not reserved for a lucky view. The design of the hotel is very creative and modern. It's also noticeably clean and warm inside which is great considering how strong the wind can be outside. The bedrooms are really wonderful - vastly superior to those stayed in a similar hotel nearby, with heated floors in the bathroom. We didn't find the time to use the hot tub but the benches on top of the rooms (which are built into the hill) provides an unforgettable spot to sit and relax with a drink. We had a really surreal moment when we were sitting on said benches, drinking a beer and admiring the world-class views, when four beautiful dogs arrived by our sides. I believe they belong to the hotel, some of the staff and the surounding houses, but either way it was great to be greeted by them. The staff were extremely helpful, getting up earlier than they otherwise would in order to provide us with breakfast before a 6am wake up (and this was on a Sunday). The wifi could be better in the bedrooms but equally the less time you spend on wifi, the more time you get to spend getting your money's worth in this great hotel. I would recommend this to anyone who can afford it, above the nearby Wheskar Lodge for example, and money-permitting, I would definitely consider staying in the future. Thanks for a great trip.
"Modern, Clean, Quiet away from town"
This hotel was modern, clean and quiet and a comfortable stay. The beds are quite low to the ground, and not many places to place your personal items. The room is a good size, with nice views. Because the rooms are built into the ground with the window above ground, it is very quiet. No chance of getting any type of wifi signal in your room at this hotel. We had a room at the end of the hallway, close to the driveway which was nice for loading and unloading our luggage from the car, we just pulled the car to the door and unloaded. The bathroom was average in size, heated floors and heated towel rack very nice. The breakfast buffet was the basic breads, cereals, a couple of hot items, fruit and juices. Nothing special. Best selection early, we found that in Chile, they do not replenish much after the initial set up. We booked this hotel last year (2016) and had to cancel for a family emergency. We cancelled about 3 weeks before arrival, but found that it was past the cancellation date. The hotel was the only hotel we booked in Chile that refused to give us a refund, so we rebooked when we knew our new travel dates for 2017. We ended up having to change the date to a week later (this was back in October2016) when we asked the hotel to change our dates, they informed us they would make the change, but no more changes allowed. Just a warning. Make sure you either cancel before the stated cancellation date, or are very sure you want to stay at this hotel. The cancellation/change policy is fairly strict. Having a car is a must for this hotel. It is too far out of town to walk easily.
"Loved the modern design"
Super chic eco friendly hotel a few minutes drive from the city. Great architectural design and we loved the use of grass, concrete, wood, slate and glass. Great views of the lake. Comfortable rooms, good breakfast and friendly helpful staff.
"Out of town. Amazing design and features"
The building and decor is unique being built into the surroundings. liked the underfloor heating in bathroom. Wonderfull views from all rooms. Food good. Breakfall adequate but a bit limited. It long walk to the centre of Puerto Natales so not a good place if you having got transport organised.
"Very Unique and Special Hotel"
