"Holding hands with perfection"
There is only one problem with this hotel and that is once you have been you will be forever seeking somewhere else that lives up to it. A problem we have faced ever since. We actually stayed in this hotel back in July 2016 but it has taken me this log to get around to writing a review. It really was so wonderful that every time i go to put pen to paper, i feel that i am doing it an injustice - and no, I am not related to management. A year and fifteen hotel stays later, I am still trying to put my finger on what makes it shine so brightly above all the others. I can only put it down to detail. The hotel is impeccably managed by Jaques Silvant and Gregory Coquet. Both will warmly welcome you to the hotel on arrival and are visible daily in resort, chatting to guests, taking tea, listening to feedback. They have every member of their team so well honed, that they can spend their days entertaining their guests. Although i am sure they work all hours to maintain such a well oiled machine. There are so many wonderful things to rave about that I am breaking it into parts. The Hotel The whole vibe of this establishment feels like South of France transported to the Indian Ocean. It is popular with the Villebruequin set with their gorgeous chic, toned wives and their well mannered, model good looking children. It is a low rise hotel not a resort, It is chic and intimate, yet has all the facilities you could desire from a leading 5 * hotel and so much more. It is well located directly on the beach front, yet is within walking distance of the town should you find the need to run out and buy a whole new wardrobe. Rooms The rooms are large and well equipped. As far as i understood all rooms look out over the ocean (although some views are better than others). Each room we experienced had beautiful bathrooms with oversized bath and separate shower. The bath products are their own brand but smell delicious. Separate sets of children’s toiletries were also supplied, which was a nice touch. Parents with children should note the junior suite was far from private with only slats between the bedroom and living area (this was a problem for us as our travel agent had assured a totally separate room, however after a chat with the wonderful Gregory Coquet explaining our disappointment he managed to juggle around the allocations and make available a one bedroom suite which offered complete privacy and a second WC - a room we will book when we will return). Food If you are a foodie you will not be disappointed. There are three restaurants in the hotel. The main restaurant is silver service and used for breakfast and dinner, yes even breakfast is relaxing affair, you can choose from a buffet but plates are then served to your table - a godsend with children. Dinner in the main restaurant was like dining at a Michelin Star restaurant each night (and I eat in a lot of Michelin star restaurants), in fact it is better than a lot of the Michelin Star restaurants at home. There is a large a la carte menu and a menu that changes daily, so even if you are there for two weeks you can try something different every day. Children are well catered for, being offered what ever their heart desires. Just to give you an idea of the service you will receive, on the first night we arrived I asked for pan fried salmon and vegetables for my children to be told apologetically, they did not have salmon. The next morning whilst walking through the resort the chef came running up to me calling me by name, to inform me that he had managed to get hold of salmon for my children. Now that is what I call above and beyond expectations. Lunch is at the chic beach restaurant, this is a beach cover up and white table cloth affair with healthy grilled options and salads and fries and burgers for the children. Finally for casual dining there is an Italian offering pizza, pasta etc. All restaurants have sea view and welcome children of all ages. Now for the best part, most nights a large table, complete with white table cloth and waiters was set up at Kids club and children were given the opportunity to eat there if they so wished with their peers before going onto the evening schedule of activities. This was an unexpected and rare pleasure to be able to eat dinner in peace most nights, well worth the price of the holiday alone! Cleanliness The cleanliness around the hotel was impeccable. Cleaning staff, were in and out several times a day they were incredibly discreet and had an amazing ability to disappear on cue! Kids Club This is first class. It is open until 10pm which is the most amazing part. All activities are included in the price (including the evening), all you pay extra for are meals. The daily schedule is split up by the hour and includes things like Water skiing (over 8), trips on glass bottom boat, face painting, Pancake party, night time crab hunts, Mocktail making lesson in the spa bar, tennis lessons and Patisserie making with the chef in the hotel kitchen complete with chefs whites and hat! It is by far one of the most inventive and exciting Kids Club schedules I have seen, so many hotels can learn from what this kids club has to offer. It is incredibly well thought out, super organised and run by staff who care about the children. It has its own pool and play area and evening cinema shows which, were in French and English to suit all children. I could not keep my children away (Four year old English speaking twins) Spa This is a glorious haven of peace and tranquility. The whole area has been beautifully designed so that you are literally transported to a little piece of paradise where troubles melt away. Treatments are carried out professionally and with care. There is a good selection of treatments on offer, I wish I had spent more time there Gym This is well equipped and incredibly well manned. It had a power plate studio, despite having a power plate at home, I hired a PT to show me new moves which was well worth every penny. Other mornings I just went to the gym by myself, there was always staff at hand to show me how to use new equipment . Everyone seemed knowledgable and friendly, it made going to the gym a very pleasurable experience instead of a drag. Beach/ Pools and Watersports The sandy beach is spotless and well laid out with beds and umbrellas. Each room has beds and umbrellas allocated to them, so no fighting for a place each day. There are elegantly dressed beach butlers who prepare your bed when you get to the beach, laying out towels and providing iced water and glasses. They will cater to your every whim. Dotted along the beach frontage are a couple of infinity pools. Even with the hotel at full capacity these are never crowded. They have their own beds and attendants. They are also a wonderful place to swim at sunset. There are a number of different water sports that are all included in your stay pedalo’s, waterskiing etc, there was something for all ages and abilities. This set up was extremely well organised and run by very patient and encouraging instructors. Service As I said before the service is what makes this hotel the elite of the elite. Every minute detail has been thought about to make your holiday, that bit easier. If you lose something, mention it to a member of staff and within minutes the whole resort is looking for it until it is found. Nothing is too much trouble. This is a hotel, that believes when you are on holiday, you really shouldn't lift a finger, god forbid a buffet plate! Everything is tailored around you. There are no queues for anything, check in is performed in your room, if you don't fancy anything on the menu, chef will create something else. In summary, I was talked into choosing this hotel, over my standard Four Seasons - a brand I feel i can trust but by golly am I glad that Scott Dunn insisted that this was the right hotel for us. They were spot on so many levels. We had the most incredible holiday. Now the problem we have is finding somewhere to rival it……. ideas on a postcard please!

"Perfect for those who seek a luxurious venue ina very sedate and private setting"
We spent a wonderful week in the Royal Palm-I had seeked a quiet, low key hotel and this is exactly what we got-no loud music or entertainment, noisy groups of guests or else. We were given an upgrade to I think the grand ocean suite which of course was absolutely wonderful. There is direct access to the beach via a private staircase and each suite has reserved beach chairs in front of the suite. Staff is very attentive, service-be it at the beach, room service or in the restaurant. The food is delicious, with a lot of variety and interesting choices-staying and eating in one place for an entire week is not normally my cup of tea, but dinner was truly something to look forward to every evening. As was breakfast, for that matter. My daughter has celiacs and we only needed to mention this once and all was taken care of-we travel a lot and it really isn't always like this! There was a fantastic selection of bread, croissants, brioches for her and the meals were, whenever necessary, adjusted accordingly without a fuss. Thank you to the chef and the maitre who took care of the matter! The spa and the adjoining rest area with pools is excellent, as is the gym area, complete with yoga pavillion and separate workout rooms for weights, pilates and so forth.
Royal Palm exceeded every expectation I had. The food was superb and the room (tropical suite) was bright, light and airy with a sensational bathroom. Seyexclusive organised the trip perfectly - many thanks for the expertise and advice! Very highly recommended, thank you for helping us choose the perfect suite! The food was very good - the extensive breakfast menu served both ala carte and buffet was very good. Some members of our party had special dietary requirements which were catered for without fuss. Fabulous location to walk into grand baie
Wow wow wow, this is just the most incredible hotel! We travelled with a 2 and a 5 year old along with a few other parties (members of our family). We had a garden suite (two bedrooms). From the moment you walk in the hotel just oozes understated luxury (no big brand plastered over t shirts). The majority of guests were European when we stayed with a large number of children (Easter holidays) and were half board The hotel is the perfect size and all the rooms i saw were incredible. All sea view large within seconds of pools and the most perfect beach. The room was very large with ample room and a superb area for the kids (own bathroom and walk in wardrobe) Kids club was brilliant and great flexibility with the kids. One of our children regularly stayed for evening meals and the evening film. Service was excellent and the food top notch from the breakfasts on the balcony through to some of the best food i have tasted at La Goellette. The hotel helped us organise a surprise BBQ on the beach for a celebration and it was both food and setting wise hard to beat! Staff members were helpful but not pushy and many knew our names some how (children names were already known when they walked into the kids club) Memories of sitting by the pool (always free sunbeds) or by the beach (allocated sun beds for you stay) with a cold drink watching the sun go down, whilst the kids played in the pools, will stay with me for a long time Top tip would be to enjoy breakfast and meals on your balcony (still exquisite food) and better than most restaurants Very much looking forward to going back at some point!
