We are a couple, enjoying a "babymoon" and stayed for 7 nights on an all inclusive basis at the Ravenala Attitude. It was a great, really relaxing experience. We have never been attracted to the idea of all inclusive holidays at a resort and I was a bit worried that while it would be nice, there wouldn't be much to do. This is not the case at the Ravenala Attitude - there are lots of water sports which are included in the package - paddle boarding, pedalos, sailing , snorkelling - basically everything except diving was included. I was impressed with the rooms, which are really big and very quiet despite the amount of activity at the resort. 7 of the 10 restaurants are included in the package, as are all the drinks, but you need to book tables a few days in advance. We thought O Beach which is European/Mauritian food, and the Mauritian restaurant Kot Nou which has fantastic curries, were the best. Italian "A Tavola" was a bit disappointing. We also tried Lime, a Japanese restaurant for which there was an extra supplement but was well worth it for both the food and the atmosphere, low lit and right on the beach. I also went diving - if you are really into diving then it's worth getting the dive centre to arrange dives in other parts of the island - Cathedral (a cave dive) at Flic en Flac was an amazing sight. All in all, lovely and huge swimming pools, great service and we would highly recommend a week here.
"Good All Inclusive Hotel with Extras"
We spent a great 11 days here with our two children aged 6 and 8. There is plenty to keep kids entertained and the adults relaxed. Free use of pedalos, kayaks and short boat trips is a good addition to the facilities. Many hotels charge for this. I even tried water skiing with limited success. There are also free games to play (volley ball, bat and balls, board games etc.) The beach is busy, but lovely, and the pools were all clean and kept the kids happy. Not loads to do outside of the hotel, but you should know that when booking. Mauritius is not really a place you visit and expect to venture far from your hotel at night. We took a private taxi around the island which was good. Visited waterfalls, geological land, hillside views, beaches and the capital of the island. We booked a dolphin trip on a speed boat from the sellers on the beach. I had read some mixed reviews about these and nearly booked the trip through the reps at the hotel. Glad I did not. The hotel trips put you on a bus for an hour and cost more money. The beach sellers send a speed boat to get you so your trip starts immediately. Within 10 minutes we were swimming with dolphins. This is not a petting zoo. You are out in the ocean swimming in deep water. Absolutely loved this trip as we were the only boat near the dolphins on two occasions. A fantastic experience and what is not to love about flying along on a speed boat. Over recent years I have avoided the all-inclusive option as the food can be disappointing and the drinks selection average at best. The Ravenala is better than others we have stayed at. There are several evening a la carte options, with limited menus, but I would rather this than the buffet option. The wine is good and the spirits OK. You can even collect bottled beer to keep in your room fridge. Lunch is good. The beach BBQ is perfect for a carnivore like myself, but you can relax at the pool with a range of snacks if you prefer. On your first day or two, tip the poolside waiter. The service afterwards is fantastic! So attentive and friendly. Breakfast is the usual chaotic experience of people wandering around, half asleep, filling plates of food. The choice is good with cooked options, loads of fruit, nice pastries and the usual omelette and pancake ‘show cooking’. Unfortunately we had to wait most days to get a table, and when you did, the table cloth and mats were normally filthy. You then give up waiting for cutlery and try to find your own. Management, you can do better than this! In general the service is OK. Restaurant staff are polite, rooms are cleaned by friendly people and the reception team were helpful. However, why the staff at the beach bar cannot raise a smile or even say hello is beyond me. Greeted with just a raised eyebrow on many occasions and somehow managed to order drinks without a single word being said to me while being served. We stayed in a family suite. Nice big room with a view over the river. They are open plan so when your kids wake up, so do you. One gripe, is the lack of storage. A couple of shelves and about 6 hangers. You arrive with suitcases full and scatter your clothes on bedside units and coffee tables. Credit to the management though. You get an email soon after arrival asking if everything is OK. I mentioned the lack of storage and shelf unit arrived later that day while we were at the beach. Top marks for that. If you want a family friendly hotel in Mauritius, this place ticks a lot of boxes while still feeling a bit luxurious. I would love to give this 4.5 stars, but that is not an option.
"23rd Sept - 8th Oct 2017"
This was our 1st stay at the Ravenela and Mauritius, we spent a long time reading reviews and watching 'youtube' videos before we made our decision. The Ravenela is a beautifully maintained hotel in a lovely bay that shelters you from any of the offshore wind that are possible at this time of year, I would not say the beach is small but it is compact with a large number of loungers which take up a lot of space, that said it makes for a short walk to the water. Most mornings I went for a walk either north or south around the coast to see a little more of the area, I really enjoyed how peaceful the mornings were. The hotel provides lots of activities and there was always lots going on, but rarely did we feel overcrowded on the beach. Food is always a point that is subjective, we were in a country 8000 miles from home, so I did not expect the same sort of food to which I am used. We tried all the restaurants, our favourite was the 'Le Bistrot', Christina was a lovely hostess and looked after us very well on all of our visits. The beach BBQ, which was great during the day / lunch time, was the only restaurant that I felt was more suited to the day and to for an evening out. Maybe we had a bit of bad luck. The bars are well manned and you rarely have to wait for a drink, on the beach the 'guys' brought you drinks / food to your lounger, we felt especially well looked after by Yassin and Ravi who throughout our 2 week stay never missed a beat and were on top of everyone's requests on the beach, well done!!!! The other bars ran smoothly and again you rarely had to get out of your seat to have your glass refilled. We really liked the 'top bar', it was always quiet and you could get away from the hustle and bustle of the larger poolside bar if you wanted a little bit of space, the guy there were always great and look after us well. Only the beach bar after the beach staff had left became difficult to be served and this only seemed to be between about 17:00 and 21:00, when people were leaving the beach and sitting at the bar, the barmen seemed to have little idea of who to serve next and I often felt invisible as people who strolled up after me were served before me (I'm too polite and would say nothing, unlike the majority of South African's), which did get a little frustrating. Our room was spacious, had a great view of the pool and was serviced well every day. Breakfast was excellent, a wide choice, plenty of seating, no complaints. The buffet restaurant, which I truly enjoyed on our 1st visit was spoilt when we visited for the 2nd time as we turned up after 150 netball players had just devoured everything in site, whilst in no way blame the netball teams, I do however believe that the hotel should have been better prepared for this eventuality, after all they did take the booking and knew the numbers, maybe the 2 sittings policy should have been enforced, I would have preferred to have been asked to come back in half an hour as opposed to walk around the buffet area looking at empty or cold food containers. This happened a couple of times in the morning too but not to the same extent. Overall our booking with BA and stay at the Ravenela was excellent and would recommend to others, with the slight caveat that if you are super fussy about your food (which I am not) then maybe look closer.
"Australia and Irish catch-up "
This trip was organising by my future hubby and my best friends hubby to get us together as a 30th birthday gift. I can't emphasise how amazing this resort was. Mauritius was almost a approx 12 hour trip from Australia and Ireland and the Ravenala provided an all inclusive package which was ideal for us to thoroughly enjoy the holiday. The rooms were beautifully appointed and modern but a wonderful authentic Mauritian feel. We stayed at the beach end - adults only. Ravi was a stand out staff member and he made the trip extra special. Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff.
"Amazing holiday! "
Where to start..?! We've just returned from 10 nights stay at Ravenala and it was dreamy. Lots of space despite being fully booked and we didn't want for anything. There is an extensive choice of restaurants all serving great food. The staff were so attentive and friendly and made our stay 5 star! An extra special thank you to Balram and Major at Kot Nou for amazing Mauritian food and an experience we won't forget! And also to Ben and Ragu at Lime for going the extra mile always - we would highly recommend the adult only executive beach front rooms (sushi is inclusive and served on the beach - bliss! And these rooms also have a fantastic view!) We would highly recommend staying here if you want luxury with a Mauritian feel.
