"Great hotel with little inconveniences "

On our 3 island hopping trip on the Seychelles the La Dique Island Lodge was Nr2. Compared to the other hotel on The Island of Praslin it was almost like crossing the iron curtain coming from a communist country to the Western Hemisphere, when the Cold War in the 70ies still existed. The hotel offered welcome drinks, took care of our luggage and the chalet in the first row, next to the ocean was clean and nicely furnished. The aircondition worked perfectly and the bathroom was small but functional. The Swimmingpool had the right size, the water was clean and the food we ordered there a la carte for lunch was absolutely delicious. We haven't had in a long way such a good tasting fresh fish carpaccio as a starter and the fish filet in garlic with rice and salad was of very good quality and tasting fantastically. The sea seems to be less rough on La Dique than in Praslin So sunbathing and swimming made much more fun here, than on the other island. Disadvantages are, that the management is unable to supply a wlan connection in the whole hotel area. You have to sit like school kids in the hotel lobby with the other customers, if you want to be connected to the internet. An absolutely no go in a hotel segment of such a high price. There are no sun shades like umbrellas along the whole beach There are enough palmtrees and other vegetation providing some sort of a shadow, but my European skin needs even with sun protection factor 50 a solid shade, after some hours of exposure to the subequatorial sun here. Why are they so ignorant - umbrellas are not such a big investment for such a huge hotel - and the clientele is more or less all from Europe. TV on the room is sot working properly and from the 30 some cable stations our set was only able to receive 6 Programms in good quality. I guess I would come here again, but only with more possibilities to hide from the sun. One thing here is sort of ridiculous. As a customer of the hotels there are no self bought items in the minibar allowed to storage. That means in every room is a note, that the hotel employees are forced by management to remove private items out of the minibar.

"Enjoyed a lot"

Enjoyed our vacation in la digue. Host was very polite and helpful. It's a place you must stay as it's best in class. Little far from jetty but worth the nature and beauty at the location. Everything is available at the location. Just get a bike and explore the whole island. Owner will help to get the same.

"Nice easy and great location for this small boutique hotel"

Located near the La digue jetty and very close by bicycle to the famous and great Source d'argent beach.... this small boutique hotel is right on the beach. the design of the Chalet-villas have nothing special but they are quite good in size and have 2 sun beds outside. Small and not pretentious hotel to relax and enjoy the La Digue visit

"La Digue Island Lodge, never again!!!"

I have already been to Seychelles at La Digue Holiday Villas 2 years ago and even if it was only self catering it is never comparable to this time! Due to earlier good reviews in the internet, I've booked La Digue Island Lodge for 8(!) nights. I would rather haven't done this... The location and breakfast is great. My room is nice and clean. BUT, this hotel is the unkindliest place I have ever been to! One lady of the reception wasn't very welcoming and in a bad mood on my arrival at the jetty. So the first impression of this hotel wasn't so positive. But most of the staff is very nice, mainly housekeeping and breakfast service! After 4 days staying here, I came back from the beach into my room and the staff has taken my drinks out of the minibar which I had bought in the supermarket. They left them on the desk and locked the minibar without any advance notice!! Am I in a kindergarten???! At first, I want to point out the fact, that I hadn't removed all drinks offered by the hotel, except 2 small bottles of mineral water. I'd just put in additionaly my soft drinks to keep them cold. If you see the price list from the minibar and think of the heat where you need to drink at least 3 litres a day and also having such a long stay like me, then it's too much money to spend in addition to bed and breakfast. When I asked about the locked minibar at the reception the manager or owner(?), whatever, a curly long haired woman was called and she told me strictly that the hotel policy says it is not allowed to bring own drinks into the hotel rooms. I can buy drinks at the bar or from the minibar. If I don't accept this I should book self catering. Do I say this to guests?! When I told her that I've never heard this before and I'm working in a hotel as well, she just reacted snappish. Very unprofessional handling of a guests complaint! I've never been treated like this!! I wonder if she likes her job. Her unkindness and ignorant behaviour makes my vacation not enjoyable anymore. I have already paid a huge amount to this hotel, so I'm not allowed to use the fridge?!! In every simple guest house where you pay much less for the overnight there is a fridge you can use. It seems, the management doesn’t care about their guests and needs, and is just thinking of making money. I understand that the hotel has to get its turnover. Therefore I would pay for WIFI (which is for free) and so on, but I'm not willing to pay doubled prices for life essentials like drinks in such a hot country. If a guest decides using minibar service it's okay to charge it, of course. But prohibiting to bring own drinks into the rooms, that's going too far! What about snacks because they are offered as well in the minibar?! Next time they will forbid to bring sun cream with you because it can be bought in the hotel... Also I'm wondering where I can find the hotel policy??! The guest information folder in my room includes just an old memo from January 2017, see the pic. Nothing more, very poor! If they have such strict rules why aren't they published in the room? I travel twice a year in my vacation. Cuba, Curaçao, Jamaica, Maldives, Rhodes, Portugal and so on, but this has never happened to me before!! I'm Front Office Manager in a 4-star hotel too, but I would never treat my guests like this. Hospitality for pleasure, definitely not on La Digue Island Lodge! Unfortunately I have to stay another nights here, although I would rather leave this place... Would I recommend this hotel? After this experience not anymore!

"worst hotel experience ever! hotel management is a catastrophe. almost destroyed our honeymoon"

We booked the la digue island lodge with a popular booking site one week before arrival. We got booking confirmation from the booking site. One hour befor arrival we got a call from the booking manager from the lodge. He said, booking was incomplete, thats why we got a downgrade (another employe told us, there was just overbooking, so it was a lie). Instead of a garden room we got a so called standard room. It was a old, cold an ugly room with broken shower, situated outside of the hotel-complex, above a shop and a restaurant. it was the first night of our honeymoon, so we protested, but they ignored us. After 2 hours we decieded to change hotels. The check out was a desaster. We needed to talk to the booking manager by phone. We tried to explain our disappointment. Instead, he acted very unfriendly and aggressive and even threatened to call the police. In the end, we had to pay for one plate of rice from the hotel buffet 50 euro. The hotel is a disgrace for the otherwise nice island.
