Over Le Domaine de l'Orangeraie

Our favorite

"Nice place, disappointing behaviours"

   11-01-2017
We decided to spend one week at Seychelles to relax and run away a little while from our stressful lives. Our travel agent recommended l'Orangeraie as an excellent location to relax in a luxury environment with a "zen" touch. We enthusiastically agreed and booked 2 villas for 4 nights. Prices were quite high, but we felt it was worth the effort. Indeed, the location is stunning, villas are gorgeous and immersed in the forest, we could enjoy a really, really breathtaking view of the sea and sunset from the immense balcony. We particularly appreciated the "open air" bathroom, a great feature indeed. Both breakfast and buffet dinner were meeting our expectations, we also had dinner at "a la carte" restaurant (le Combava) one evening and we were fully satisfied. Sure, prices for extras and drinks are rather high, but it was expected since this is definitely not a low-cost hotel. Now, let's come to the negative side of the tale: 1) personnel training, attitude and initiative: we agree with those who commented that personnel is not always behaving to expectations: some of them looked like they aimed at doing the least possible effort, and client's satisfaction was the last thought for them. Not exactly what you expect to find in a luxury hotel. Just an example: we were told on our arrival that breakfast was from 7 to 10 a.m.: one morning we came at 7:15 and nothing was ready: we asked to a waitress and she told us that breakfast start time was at 8:00 (what???), then we asked another one and she told us it was at 7:30.... we explained we had planned an excursion for the day and we had to be at the jetty in 30 minutes.... no reaction.....; then a third waiter came, one with definitely higher than average initiative and surely a greatest sense for client satisfaction, and he said: " don't worry, please sit here and I'll arrange some croissant and tea for you" - he was the only one doing something for us that morning. Definitely, personnel must be re-trained for a better attention to client needs. 2) Peace and quiet: everything was fine for the first 3 nights, but we had a bitter surprise on the last night of our stay (Friday): loud music started around 10 p.m. and it went on until 3 a.m. We called the reception and they said the music came from a nearby hotel and they could do nothing to stop it. As a result, we spent half of the night without sleeping, full of stress, anger and frustration - not exactly a "zen" experience in our opinion. We complained again the morning after while checking out, and again we were told nothing could be done and anyway, "it happened only during weekends". We said we would have written some comments on TripAdvisor about our experience and the employee said "please do", and it was evident she did not care at all about it. Well, in our opinion, when one pays thousands of Euros to stay in a luxury place, the right to sleep at night and not to be disturbed by unpleasant noise MUST be guaranteed. Since it seems that quiet and peace can be achieved only from Monday to Thursday, I suggest management to offer a 30% discount on the villas price during weekends to compensate the increase of stress for clients. Or as an alternative, call the police and have them stop the noise. In conclusion, a nice location, but if you wish silence and quiet, AVOID WEEKENDS.

"A beautiful resort which needs a lot of work in terms of service"

   08-01-2017
We stayed here for 5 nights from 28 December 2016 to 2 January 2017. The rooms are trully wonderful, really modern, spacious, clean, with large balconies overlooking the lush gardens, outdoor bathrooms and all the comforts and amenities of a 5-star resort. There is also turn-down service and room make-up twice a day, along with 2 free bottles of water per person per day. You can also rent bikes from within the hotel for 5 euros per day which is great and convenient. The hotel grounds and amenities overall are lovely and very well maintained. The hotel staff and service were mediocre to say the least. The person who did our welcome tour gave us all the information wrong (e.g. breakfast times, duration of bike hire, restaurant closures, etc). The reception was not informed about the festivities planned during New Year's eve when there was already a print-out schedule circulated around the hotel. The manager at the pool was quite rude and repeated 3-4 times that if we did not return our towels we would have to pay for them, which made us feel like we looked like we were going to steal them. The quality of the food at the buffet was quite poor and most of the food tasteless. The worst thing though were the prices of the extras which were ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!! The price of a soft drink in the hotel was 80 rupees = 5,5 euro (!!), while out of the resort in mini markets the cost was 18 rupees!! We ended up paying more than 250 euros in extras just by drinking soft drinks and water during our dinner along with 2 smoothies by the pool. Overall, this is a beautiful hotel which is poorly managed, with poorly trained staff and excessive prices on everything not included in your rate.

"Best Holiday in Paradise"

   03-01-2017
Im travelling around the world and stay in the best hotels. But I have to say, Le Domaine de L'Orangeraie is something special. From the first minute till last moment in this amazing resort, whole my family were absolutely satisfied with services. All staff were very kind, helpful and friendly. Our villa was on the top of resort, from pool and terrace you can see tropical forest and endless ocean. Villa is really top, furnished with great taste, especially bathroom, decorated with small stones, with natural big rocks and without the roof. The most beautiful bathroom in my life. You take a shower and can look on the mango tree and thousand stars at the night. Rooms are very spacious, cosy and clean. Restaurant was also very good. Buffet is very rich, breakfast and dinner were very tasty. We tried a la carte too, we were very satisfied. All our wishes and requests were met. And...This amazing resort is situated in true paradise. In fresh breezy tropical rainforest and on the beach of wild wonderful ocean. Colors of this island you cannot forget. Shining green and flawless turquise and blue. We were also in best hotels on Praslin and Mahe, but Le Domain de L'Orangeraie is extraordinary. Of course, you can always find the trivialities. But when you travel somewhere, you have to inform about this country. Seychelles are in the tropics and sometimes is raining here. And ocean is full of corals, you need a water shoes. But its rare paradise. I want to say again big thanks to all the hotel staff, mainly Olive Jacky. And finally, the person, who has all this in his hands, GM Eric Boulanger. Thanks to him, this resort provides impeccable services and guests feel like in a paradise.

"stylish hotel but noisy air-con"

   30-12-2016

Everything PERFECT !!!! The most amazing of this trip was the Suite in this hotel. It's very beautiful. The bathroom is outside the room. The dîner and breakfast was very good. It's a dream in reality.
