"Overprice for what it is."
We stayed in room 30. The room had an average feel; There was no 'wow factor' on entry. There were no face towels in the bathroom. We informed the reception and it took approximately an hour and half to bring them. There was only one small bin in the bathroom and none in the bedroom. We had to jam-pack the rubbish upon departure. There were no free tea nor coffee available. There was a nespresso machine but you have to order and pay for the bullets from the reception. No bottled water were available in the room. The bedroom was comfortable though at night when sleeping. The balcony had a good view of the shore and ocean. Although you seldomly hear the echoes of the nearby residential estates and car, the balcony is a very good place to relax. The restaurant was very quiet. Staff were OK. Food was average. Nothing exciting.
"Reviews worried me; but it's ok!"
We had pre-booked this resort before I even looked at any reviews on here - most of which made me very worried! However, our stay was ok - although we did have the Pool Villa! Due to a delayed flight, we arrived quite late (around 10pm) and I was slightly alarmed to find they had basically shut up for the night! No chance of some room service dinner then (note, room service doesn't exist here!)! There is no 24 hour reception or concierge here like you find in many hotels - likely because this is a small, seemingly privately run hotel, not a big resort. Someone had obviously drawn the short straw waiting for our arrival, where we were then taken to our room and left fore the night, with the agreement to sign in properly (etc) in the morning. I tell you what - they were hot on making sure you had checked in so they had all your details, and paid before you left (we left on an early flight so had to pay our balance the night before!) but they don't bother asking if you had a good stay or any issues..! So, as I said, we had the pool villa room, which was really lovely. The place wasn't crawling with bugs like I had seen on another review - but we did have the odd little gecko in our room (which I'm ok with!). I was however, more than a little alarmed to spot a cockroach run to its hiding place within the wall of our outdoor shower... I also saw another one running around on the steps down to reception...so beware... they make my skin crawl! Our room was nice, clean and had everything we needed. However, we did make the mistake of leaving €160 in my husbands shorts pocket the one day we were out all day - and by the time we remembered it had been stolen, presumably by the cleaner! Slightly less than impressed. All our other valuable belongings and money was kept in the safe, we just slipped up with that €160 and clearly paid for it by having it stolen! Next; I wouldn't normally eat in "resort" unless we were all inclusive, which we weren't, but we were so tired one night (after our full day out trip) that we just chose to eat in the hotel... each night they serve a different themed buffet...at one heck of a cost! What an absolute rip off! We paid £30pp for buffet food!! Couldn't believe it! So my best recommendation would be to avoid eating in the hotel (best food recommendation is La Grande Maison at Takamaka) at all costs!! Cocktails however, were very nice - too easy to drink though, and again, super expensive! Lastly, my husband and I both felt like we were the wrong side of the island for the weather. It was very windy here which meant constant rolling clouds rather than the sunshine I needed - but I could often see constantly sunny beaches in the distance! All in all though, to be in a private pool villa like I prefer, it was a nice stay. Just make sure you don't leave any valuables out because they will be stolen!
Me and my husband booked this hotel based on the nice pictures of the pool with the sea as a background. Our first disappointment was when our transfer turned to the opposite side of the beach and climbed into the hill where the hotel is located. Yes, it is on the top of a hill and you need to go for lots of stairs and quite a long way to reach the beach. I told the transfer driver that we might be in the wrong hotel cause it's nothing like it shows online. We arrived to our room and surprise: the hotel driver opened the door and didn't let us in. The room was not ready despite of being long time after we are paying for it. He then entered the room and started to open windows and try to tide up things. He then apologized and let us in after some minutes. Where was the bath tub described in the room details? None. No iron facilities like it says. The Nespresso machine you have to pay for the capsules. No tea bags or sugar or anything. So I decided to shower after my flight. Where are the towels? None. I tried to call reception. No details on the phone itself about how to do it. I went to reception and asked how to call them and if the hotel provides towels. The lady apologized and said she would sent towels. Almost 1 hour and no towels still. Towels arrived about 3 hours after this. Someone brought 2 bottles of water. That's the only thing we had in our room. Completely empty, like a self catering hotel. I hope the sheets were not from previous guests cause nobody came to change it. Food buffet is not bad. Pool is nice and modern. At least we managed to have 2 decent meals before we do early check out. We couldn't stay any longer because it feels horrible to buy a fake experience. Horrible!
"Room full of lizards"
We stayed in Valmer on our honeymoon for 9 nights. We tried to book excursion 4 times, and at last thwy sayed everithing ia booked and rearranged with travel agent working with the hotel excursion but they forgot to pick us in the morning and made us pay more money for another excursion. And the other problem that we had was that the room was full of lizards. They came to sprey but that didn't help at all, they continue comming through the windows. Despite all of that the hotel is nice, and the staff at the restaurant is polite.
"WOW, Imagine if the service is so pathetic before you book!!!"
Been trying for days to get a quote from this place, but what a joke. Today I called for like the 100th time and I was told "this afternoon" again! - and that the person who quotes is out of the country!!! No wonder they have such bad reviews and are about the only resort not fully booked yet!!! It is highly unlikely that I will choose to go here during my vacation. I am a VERY well traveled person, I have never had the urge to write a review before, because considering all the 22 countries I visited, I never experienced this bad service even before booking the place.
