• Cote d'Or (in het noordoosten)
Wij bieden aan beide stranden uitstekende hotels aan. Ook het koraalrif is een lust voor het oog.

"Great stay"

   14-10-2017
We stayed at the Coco De Mer for 6 nights and we loved it. We had a warm welcome upon arrival with a nice cool drink and freshening towels and a member of staff giving us all the information we needed to know whilst there. We did book just bed and breakfast as we normally like to venture out trying different places each evening but ended up having our evening meals here every night. This was due to the fact there isn’t a lot of other places to go out to for an evening meal, despite us having a car, and also we found the food to be good and plenty to choose from with good service. We only ate in the Hibiscus restaurant for breakfast and buffet style evening meal so I cannot comment on the A La Carte restaurant. Due to the fact that there is plenty of selection for both the breakfast and the evening meal everyone should find something that they like to eat. The chefs on hand are very friendly and cook pancakes and waffles as required for breakfast which starts at 7.30am and finishes at 10am. The evening dinner is from 7.30pm until 9.30pm and the bar closes at 10.30pm. This may not suit you if you like late bar nights. We found that it was nice having been out all day maximising our stay touring around and visiting other islands to be here relaxing for the evening and there was entertainment on three occasions whilst we were there. With hindsight as we did eat there every night maybe we should have asked to upgrade to half board as it may have been cheaper but we preferred not being tied there each evening. We did get an initial 20% off voucher upon arrival for one evenings use which we used but during our stay we did get conflicting information on these vouchers. We were informed you just got the one voucher but a waiter told us to ask for them as you can have one every night (which didn’t make sense as if eligible every night then why not just knock the 20% off?) as he was insistent this was the case I asked at reception and was asked if I’d received the one voucher upon arrival as this was all you got so I felt a little foolish. That night in the restaurant the waiter asked if we’d got our voucher so we advised him it is just the one voucher that you are entitled to but he was still adamant he was right and we were being told wrong by the staff and that the staff had misadvised us, so much so he got us another one! But we are still confused as although we stayed the 6 nights only got a voucher for 2 nights – so who knows! Either we did well to get a second voucher or we were short changed by missing out on four other vouchers. We liked our room, although the large corner bath in the bedroom was outdated but we were advised that whilst the hotel will be closed for a few months these are being removed as part of the forthcoming renovations as nobody is using them. Our room was very big and we believed we had the best view from our location as others had trees or buildings in front of them whereas we had a clear view of the surrounding gardens, pool and the beach. Also our room was at the end and so peaceful as no-one would walk past. The bathroom was large with a large walk-in shower, two basins and plenty of towels and toiletries. There was an area with a comfy sofa leading to the balcony with comfy chairs which we sat on every day. There was a fridge with an initial 2 complimentary bottles of water but these are not replaced. You can get your fridge filled from the bar by completing a form left by the fridge if required. Tea and coffee sachets are provided and we obtained milk from the bar area. We bought anything we wanted whilst out during the day so found it handy having the fridge in the room. The pool area was nice, although we didn’t use the pool whilst there. Each day at the pool area they offer complimentary tea and coffee from 4pm until 5pm and this appeared to be popular. There is also a wharf area with lots of comfy seats which are great to relax in and also popular at sunset to relax and enjoy the moment. There are steps leading down to the sea and we regularly sat there and fed the fish that came some of them are huge! There is a beach there but as others have commented does have a lot of seaweed however if you go past the gym and along the walkway through the gate you come to another lovely beach with no seaweed. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful although some appeared miserable and it was the same on the reception, some were friendly and helpful but others never looked up as you passed by. This is a shame as overall most are friendly and smile and say hello when they see you. The hotel does offer a free bus service to Anse Lazio beach, which is gorgeous, however it leaves at 9.30 and takes about 35 minutes to get there and they collect you at 1pm so bear this in mind if you like to stay at the beach longer. Personally I wouldn’t stay there without a car but we do like to do our own thing and the buses are not always regular, we gave a lift to a young German couple who had been waiting at the bus stop for ages. We did manage to visit everywhere we wanted to and found the roads easy to navigate and this way you can stop whenever you want to as around every corner is another stunning view and/or beach. The cost of a taxi from the airport to the hotel is the cost of hiring a car for one day as initially we were going to get a taxi and start the car hire from the next day but decided against this and we are glad we did as it is very easy to find. By having the car we made our own way to the jetty to visit La Digue and also to Cote D’Or to book a trip from the beach to Curieuse. Although to visit Cousin island you do need to go on an organised trip as visits there are strictly controlled and we did book this through Coco De Mer which was all very organised, we were collected and returned to the hotel. At the end of our stay we had to leave early before breakfast started and asked if we could have an early breakfast, initially they said breakfast was strictly from 7.30am we said we didn’t expect the full breakfast experience – waffles and pancakes to order etc.. but if we could have cereal and toast that would be fine and they did allow this which was good. The reason for the hesitation was that not all the staff would be at work which we understood. I do hope that with the refurbishments that they don’t overdo things and spoil the place as that would be a shame but agree there are a few things that need tweaking.

"Black parrot suits vs coco de mer"

   11-10-2017
We stayed at the black parrot suits which is physically connected to hotel coco de mer and shares facilities. Our stay was great, the hostests made us feel like home and the pool area is amazingly beautiful. However the experience at coco de mer was utterly different. The staff at the reception and restaurant was often rude. The climaxe was when they thought we did not understand their language and tried to stiff us a few extra euros by increasing our restaurant bill while giggling behind our backs (!!) . Bottom line - black parrot suits is amazing while coco de mer left us with a bitter taste, would recommend only the first one.

"Great Food - resort is old and dirty"

   04-10-2017
Booked 4 nights and changed to 1 night. This resort is worth $100 a night. Common areas are dirty and dated. Food and staff are great. There are better and far cheaper options in the Seychelles. Beach is not for swimming due to seaweed. In general it's very poor value. Also I suspect they are using algorithms to boost their trip advisor score. All 5* reviews seem to come from Indian visitors.

"Resort with potential"

   01-10-2017
Hotel is in a beautiful location with two nice beaches, although they require tidying up and some of the sun loungers and canopies could do with renewing. The villas are basic with no ambient lighting and "MFI" style wardrobes and look tired and aged overall, especially with a bath in one corner of the room.... Outside lighting of the paths was limited with a lot of the lights not working. There were limited tea and coffee facilities in the room and we had to purchase water after the first two complementary bottles. Breakfast availability was good and the plates and food were hot although it would have benefitted with a little variation on a day to day basis. Evening meals were themed and the dining area was decorated accordingly, along with live music. Some members of staff are very friendly and helpful, Sanjeev and Sammy to name a couple. Management did not introduce themselves or ask for any feedback verbally or by form. If improvements were carried out, we would certainly consider returning.

"Holiday in Paradise"

   01-10-2017
writing reviews and reading TripAdvisor is not my normal style. However I have to write this honest review. I am lucky to travel around the world with my husband and this hotel ,staff, wine manager taught us so much re wine, food choices, amenities ,location , spa , superior room and Black suites there is nothing bad I good write. We have had an amazing 2 weeks .All the staff are so attentative, helpful ,knowlegable re trips ,local buses, awareness of taxi s to use an not, nothing is too much trouble . Views across the bay and sea are superb you can snorkel around the rocks near to Black Parrot suite area where we saw green and Hawksbill turtles ,parrot fish etc and rays, some seaweed at this time of year on the beach this side of the island . We have returned so relaxed not sure how we will return to normal hectic life. Joseph s nature walk we learned so much of the f / fauna ,even taught me to paddle boarding!! great fun. We have stayed in worst unfriendly 5 star hotels where no one talks to you, here all the staff are like one big family and treat us as so .We hope to return in 2 years time and hope the changes they make in the upgrade do not spoil the amazing establishment they have here . Thank you Coco de Mer for an amazing holiday in Paradise .
