"Good location....comfortable and clean rooms...close to transport"

   15-02-2017
Stayed here in late January. Managed to book a club room which is the way to go as you bypass checking in on the ground floor which is always crowded with people checking in and out. Having the advantage of a club room was just perfect as you were very well looked after by the club lounge staff who went the extra mile to make your stay perfect. Helen and Kenneth made us feel very special being away from home. They looked after us and nothing was too much to ask if we needed anything. We would most definitely stay here again.

"Miniature Room in Excellent Location"

   15-02-2017
I chose this hotel primarily due to the location and it served well for the same. The hotel is located in the middle of Tsim Tsha Tsui amid prime shopping area. For Indians, you can find a bunch of Indian Restaurants in Chunking Mansions which is at a walking distance of 2 minutes. The subway station is also just outside the hotel. I went for visiting a HKTDC Fair at the HKCEC. So, the shuttle service also operates from the same road on which the hotel is located which made my travel very easy. The room was really very small. It was even less to what I expected in HongKong. I couldn't even find a suitable place to open by suitcase. I loved the fruit plate with the chocolates provided in the room. The checkin and checkout were seamless. The Wi-Fi Signals were neither very strong nor the speed was enough. I had to resort to using the local SIM which I purchased for accessing the Internet. Overall, the hotel was still a plus for its location.

"Decent and clean hotel for business and leisure"

   13-02-2017
Stayed in The Grand Kowloon from 9-11 Feb 2017. The hotel is located in the middle of the main tourist area. There is a direct access from the hotel lobby to the MTR Station. Taxis and the free airport express shuttle bus stops right outside the hotel. Very convenient. Takes about 20 mins from Kowloon Airport express station. Did not have breakfast there so no reviews on that. Food options are everywhere around the hotel. So was a good choice not to have the breakfast included. After awhile, hotel breakfast all tastes the same. Halal food options are also very nearby at the Chung King Mansion. Overall an ideal place for leisure and business.

"Perfect Spot for Starting the HK Marathon"

   12-02-2017
My wife and I compete in many marathons every year, and part of our challenge is to find a hotel close to the start of the run. The location is very important (in order to maximize the amount of sleep we can get before the race), but the comfort of the room and the dining option are also critical. On our scale, the Kowloon Hotel scores very well. The location -- the Kowloon Hotel is on Nathan Road, just behind the Peninsula Hotel. As marathon runners know, a part of the process for running the race is dropping off a bag containing your clothing and other gear at a designated truck (the trucks then take your belongings to the finish of the race). The trucks for this purpose were just outside our front door! Perfect. The walk to the start of the race was easy, just a few blocks, and thus we were able to maximize our sleep and arrive at the start in a very comfortable time. Comfort of the room -- we judge a room according to specific comfort metrics (size, quality of climate control, bed size, and cleanliness), quality of the bedding and towels, and the quality of the bathroom. Comfort metrics: the room is small, but adequate, and the decor is pleasing and stylish (recently redecorated, it seemed to us). The size was somewhat of an issue because it was difficult for two people to stretch before the race at the same time. The hotel room would feel crowded if you arrived with a couple of large suitcases -- the closet is too small for a suitcase; you wouldn't want to put a suitcase in front of the door in case you have to exit quickly; you might be able to fit a suitcase on top of the desk, but then you cannot use the desk. The ceiling is low -- I am 189cm tall, and so felt like the ceiling was crowding me; a shorter person would not have this sensation. But, critically, we found the room (ours was on the 16th floor) very quiet, exactly what we wanted and needed. On the other metrics -- the climate control was excellent! Much more expensive hotels have systems that turn off or lower the air conditioning in the middle of the night -- Kowloon Hotel lets guests set the temperature to their liking and it stays there. Moreover, the air conditioner is quiet and does not smell. We found the room to be very clean, and we loved our king sized bed. It was sooooo comfortable. Quality of bedding and towels. As just mentioned, our bed was blessedly comfortable. The hotel allowed us to specify the type of pillows we wanted and we were very pleased. The duvet seemed brand new and was dazzling white. The sheets were wonderful cotton -- so soft and dreamy. The towels were a disappointment. While clean (everything is clean), the towels were thin and did not really absorb the water that well after a shower. Also, the hotel definitely rations towels -- there were only two bath towels and two face towels, but nothing more. Quality of the bathroom. In keeping with the rest of the room, the bathroom was small. The shower was a nice hand-held affair, but the bathtub seemed old and very shallow. I think it would be quite difficult to enjoy a bath in such a small tub. The amenities were very nice, much better than in some of the top resorts in which we have stayed. Dining options. We know from experience that the Kowloon Hotel has an excellent Cantonese restaurant. Unfortunately, on the evening of our stay, a wedding was in progress and so the restaurant was unavailable. The other options in the hotel were either the buffet restaurant (we do not like buffets) or dinner in the bar. The trouble with eating in bars, in general, is that the food menu tends to be limited, and that was the case here. The food was okay, but the choices were slim. Fortunately, the hotel is in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsoi, so there are thousands of other choices. A few other points for potential guests: -- In this day and age, it is surprising that the Kowloon Hotel does not offer complementary WiFi in the rooms. The charge for the connection is expensive, unless you plan on using the internet all day long. The hotel promotes its club on the two top floors, but that comes at a daily charge of HK$700 -- that includes free internet, free happy drinks, free afternoon tea, and a free continental breakfast...so there is some value there, but not if you are running a marathon the next day, don't want drinks, and are leaving before breakfast is served. -- The hotel appears to be popular with tour groups. For us, this was not a problem as we had a reservation and opted for express checkout. And, I think that the tour groups probably ate in the buffet restaurant. So, the lobby and the restaurant seem very busy. -- Upon check-in, we were given some valuable coupons. Happy hour drinks that allowed you to buy one drink and get one free; the happy hour seems to extend all day. Also, we received a coupon for buy one main entree get a second one free. That was nice, but as the Chinese restaurant was fully booked, did not help us.

"Tsimshatsui Hong Kong"

Small but perfectly adequate, clean rooms and attentive staff makes this one very conveniently located good hotel choice. MTR access direct from the lobby. And a short walk to the Star Ferry or Nathan Road.
