"WORST HOTEL IN OUR TRIP"
The room walls were full of stains, it has such a terrible stench of dampness and mold that we could not sleep. There was no heating device or radiator in the room so it was freezing cold. Breakfast was terrible, no variety and slow and poor service. To sum up, extremely expensive for such awful rooms and service.
The rooms are basic but nice with some very nice shots about Bromo hanging on the walls. The Surrounding is actually nice and the setup of the hotel is pretty modern and stylish if you think you are here. Service is basic and breakfast was ok. Not more. But. But you come here to get up at 02:30 in the morning to go up and see the Sunrise at Bromo. Well the hotel organised a concert which lasted till 23:00. I love concerts. But not if i have to get up at 02:30. We complained. Answer: we will pass your valuable input to management..
"Pricey, but worth the money!"
First the obvious, the place is not cheap. That said, it is worth the money to stay here at least one night while in Bromo. Unfortunately, in Bromo, there is only this very expensive resort or there is a bunch of low priced accommodation. Nothing in between. And when staying in a cold place like Bromo, the creature comforts offered by this resort at the higher end were well worth the money. The rooms were gorgeous. We paid a bit extra for the mountain view rooms and you can open up the windows completely to reveal a completely open view of the gorgeous mountains. The bed is huge and incredibly comfortable to sleep in. The shower has strong water pressure and provides nice hot water. You will find this especially useful in the cold and when you are covered in sand, ash (and possibly powdered horse droppings blown by the wind) after your visit to the Bromo caldera. The free breakfast is delicious and there is plenty of variety. Now the few downsides. The free afternoon tea is very basic, just tea and a couple of biscuits. You cannot even get coffee instead of tea. Also, we requested a wake up call at 3 am and the call never came. Reserve your jeep for the Bromo caldera visit in Probolinggo if possible because organizing the jeep through the resort is substantially more expensive. Similarly, the resort asked IDR 600,000 for a taxi back to Probolinggo whereas we were able to walk just up the street and organize it on our own for IDR 350,000. I understand that there will be a markup, but nearly 100% is insane! All in all, the stay here is very worthwhile. The best place we stayed at in Indonesia, although we did pay for it!
"Probably the best option in Bromo, but overpriced "
Resort-style hotel set in a beautiful mountain location. We chose it despite the high price because we anticipated spending time at the hotel before and after the tour to Bromo and wanted a comfortable place to relax. In many aspects the hotel didn't live up to what we would expect from a high-end resort. Our room was a bit outdated. The bathroom was small, dark, minimalistic and cold. We had to ask for a hand towel as only shower towels were provided. Bromo gets quite cold especially when it rains and we were disappointed that there was no heater in the room. On the other hand, we liked having a direct access to the gardens which are lovely and well maintained. We enjoyed both breakfasts and dinners at the nice restaurant. There is a reasonable choice of Indonesian food. We loved the rawon soup, the konro (Makassar beef ribs) and the barramundi. Breakfast times were quite restrictive, as tours from Bromo finish just before breakfast ends. For us, the gem of the hotel was the beautiful gallery cafe, located in a tranquil pavilion with stunning photos of the area. Unfortunately the cafe is only open for a few hours in the morning and evening. This is a shame because it is much cozier than the new cafe across the road. The staff were quite helpful and polite. They helped us organize a driver from and to Probolinggo train station (albeit for a rather high price ) and arranged the tour to Bromo. As Bromo drivers don't speak much English and are not mountain guides, it would have been useful if the hotel had provided more information and maps of the area. In summary, maybe the best choice in this area, but definitely overpriced.
This is for sure the best place to stay when visiting Mount Bromo. It is obviously not the Ritz Carlton and not even the Hilton, but after a thorough and recent update the hotel is actually really really nice. Rooms can be a bit cold and bathrooms a bit basic but all in all a good place to stay. The restaurant offers both Indonesian and international food ... both for dinner and breakfast. Across the road but still on hotel premises there is a nice coffee shop and gallery which also offers free wifi.
