Mulu is vooral bekend vanwege de wel 30 miljoen jaar oude grotten. Hiervan is 150 kilometer verkend en zijn er vier toegankelijk voor publiek.

Nice building, large and comfortable rooms. The pool is just beautiful. Good breakfast with wide selection asian/western. I wasn't expecting such a quality hotel in Miri, but I must say I really enjoyed my (short) stay. Recommended!

"Wonderful Breakfast Spread"

We had to stay a night at Miri Marriott as transit to our Mulu Park trip. There was error in our booking (breakfast not included) which was clarified upon showing my Hotels.com confirmation. Room is clean and spacious, love the firm bed. Good choice of breakfast spread, hotel provide free shuttle service to town as well. Wifi is free only for Marriott Member.

"Bad Booking But Good Service with Good Rooms."

Just come back from Marriot Miri from 3-day CNY Retreat. ( 28-30 Jan 2019. Room 1718 and 1719.) The trip had a bad start due to the last minute change by Marriot on my desired booking which was done early Jan 2017. I made my booking, 2 connecting rooms with bathtub, early of the month through membership of Marriot club ( ie. Handled by Aida. ) and received an email confirmation from Marriot on 18 Jan. But received a call from Aida and Jagjit Singh, on 28 Jan, that there is NO connecting rooms for me. When I pursued my desired booking with Jagjit Singh, he replied “ It’s Aida that never told him about the connecting rooms with bathtub.”. Jagjit kept pointing out Aida, who is also a member of Marriot, for the mess. I then insisted my desired booking with Jagjit or I would pursue my case to Marriot head office. Finally, my family and I compromised to accept the unfavourable arrangement by Marriot. We thought our CNY retreat would be in ruinous and the 3-stay would be horrible or at least would be a compromised one with not much fun. But! Shockingly! The whole 3-stay was made pleasant by the highly commendable service from the staff especially the Manager, Mr. Roy in the Zest Restaurant during breakfast. The whole team ( ie. Zest Restaurant.) was extremely hospitable and very responsible with esteemed attitude together with Roy. Roy himself cleaned the table, collected the used plates and cutlery and served the guests. Marriot is so blessed to have manager like Roy and the team in the Zest Restaurant. Look at the way they handled the situation when there were so many guests and too little hands. Especially when the coffee maker was not working and the Q was long and everybody was waiting impatiently, Roy handled it so well with unwavering attitude and confident and with humility and friendliness. Most importantly he took the responsible over from the staff who suppose serving the coffee at the instant when the coffee maker was malfunction and all guests were angry. Not forgetting to mention the good house keeper and the comfortability of the interior of the recently renovated rooms. Fantastic! Although I still settled with rooms without bathtub, where I promised my kids with their bubble bath, I still say Marriot deserve a big thumbs up because of the attitude and hospitality of their manager and staff. I will come back again…but definitely will NOT want to deal with Jagjit Singh again. Reminder: Please do NOT treat your Marriot Club members as second class guests when they used the coupon. That is very wrong marketing mechanism. It was meant for good, to value your long time guests but make them feel less privilege when they used the coupon where offered by Marriot. Whoever use the coupon shall be treated equal at least equal with the walk-in guests. ) Angelique Chua Yin Yin

"Peacefully proficient"

Just come back from Chinese New Year at the Marriot. Refurbished rooms, good service, peaceful location and average breakfast. We enjoyed our room in the newly refurbished garden section, we had been to close to the pool last time which had been very noisy from about 7.00am - 7.00pm with hordes of children. Much better this time, established and professional service. The whole hotel is being renovated but they have have forgotten the bar which remains in the 80's, hardly used and it's almost as if they've forgotten about it. Room service average but edible. Alcohol prices ridiculous outside of happy hour.

"Relax your soul by the pool"

Based on personal opinion from my family getaway in November 2016. 3 rooms booking. When I stepped foot on Miri Airport, I have realized my mistake of not booking the hotel transportation. Though the taxi counters were available; due to miscommunication, we were brought to the "meritz" hotel (which sounds very much like "Marriott" hotel. Though the distance wasn't too far from one another, the trip ended up double the price. Which was not worth it. After the unnecessary journey, we finally reached the hotel. A spacious grand entrance over looking the sea welcomed us with open arm. The room we received was a standard room with two beds (smoking). As they were non renovated rooms, it was spacious yet ordinary without balcony. Overall the room was kept tidy. Though the bathroom was sizable enough for a couple to get ready together, the shower pressure and temperature was slightly disappointing. Again, our rooms were not renovated, it could be different in other rooms. However one thing for sure, is if you are looking for an extraordinary accommodation, the pool & ocean facing suite rooms is highly recommended. It makes want to stay in the whole day... Which resulted for us to order in room dining at least every once a day! The tasty foods from room service were delivered quick which made our families's life much easier after a long adventurous day out. Pizza, fried items, salad, and local flavors. We tried many dishes but each item we ordered were just satisfying. For breakfast, we paid extra to dine at the Zest restaurant located besides the pool. Staffs there were always friendly and efficient. Food varieties were wide and the taste was fair. I enjoyed the live egg station. As for going out, the local taxi did not seem to have a meter fair. All quoted the same regardless of the distance. For a short travel, hotel provides a shuttle service to the town which you could arrange through Guest Services. Manager Roy and his team were accommodating during our stay. The best of all was the pool. No matter what time of the day you go, the view take your breathe away. I personally loved the pool at night. Pool side has a huge outdoor screen providing guests with free movie show each night. Chatting with the staffs and watching the hotel get lit up so magnificently across the pool over a cocktail is just what a "holiday" should feel like. Out of the whole entire hotel, all of the staffs from Matahari Pool Terrace were by far the best. Everyone we encountered were genuinely kind! They would remember our room numbers and offer suggestion when taking order, anticipating our needs. They were thoughtful providing local sightseeing suggestions too. Spending quality family time by the pool was really the highlight of the trip. You probably wouldn't be needing a watch here. So turn off your phone and switch on the magical island time. This is a great place to wind down, get in tune with the nature and focus on your loved ones. Von voyage!
