"Great Place for relaxing"

stayed in the resort for one night and every thing was just perfect, reception staff were helpful and very welcoming, in the lobby there is library if you want to read your book, snooker table, I liked the restaurant were you should wear casual clothes only, rooms were clean. no AC but it was not a problem because the weather was cool,

"Great escape to the Highlands"

Lovely change after the bustle of Kuala Lumpur. We didn't find it faded - and enjoyed the colonial feel instead. Very pleasant staff.. Relaxing tea in the afternoon. Also enjoyed steamboat restaurant one evening - sort of Chinese fondu, which we would recommend. Of course, one can get a taxi to a nearby village if you want to enjoy local food too. Something that the hotel offers, without any extra charge, are local walks with Madi as our guide. We did one gentle one one day and another more strenuous one the next day. Admittedly, there is traffic noise, but we are good sleepers!

"Awful traffic noise, but beautiful hotel"

We booked the Signature Suite for one night. The total cost was 3089.90 rm for the one night. We were four adults and one baby, and I thought the two rooms/two bathrooms/one living area setup would work well for us. The hotel is beautiful. It has the southeast Asian colonial vibe which gives it an old time glamor. The breakfast was abundant and delicious. We took a complimentary walk (Jim Thompson Mystery Trail) with the hotel guide (Resident Naturalist) which was informative. We enjoyed afternoon tea at the hotel which was lovely too. However, the noise in front of the hotel at night is horrible. One can hear cars zooming down. Because there is no air con (it was unseasonably hot when we visited) we had to keep the windows open, and so the noise was unbearable. There were also mosquitoes flying around the room. I don't think I slept but for one hour that night, which is a shame considering what we paid. Also, in the signature suite, only one bedroom had a television. The other bedroom did not. That was disappointing. Until the traffic noise situation is dealt with, I cannot recommend this hotel, which is a shame as it's beautiful and the service is outstanding.

"A Cosy Weekend Getaway"

It was a spontaneous decision to just spend a weekend visiting a familiar place. We grew up knowing this to be The Merlin, before its transformation to what it is today. The hallway reception is quite the same, except now you get the feel that something exclusive has taken over. The reception is efficient is locating the reservations and the walk to the room is like a walk down memory lane - that is, until you open the door and realise that something has changed on the inside. The room looks very comfortable with a little sitting area, and the bed dutifully decorated with soft images. Needless to say, the fresh air on opening the windows were a welcome to the stuffy air-condition. We felt that the pond could do with some upkeep - but that is a very small detail. Food was good and fine - with a good array of wine selection. And the piano bar is just classic. The breakfast spread is luxuriously delectable! Outside the property, Camerons has changed. Lots of cars, less green, and less cooler than before. Perhaps we were lucky to have seen a greener, cooler side of Camerons. And certainly luckier to grace the corridors of this magnificent property. Will we return? Not unless the kids want to.

"What an experience."

We have just returned home after a three week stay at the Cameron Highlands Resort ( yes, three weeks) and "a relaxing time" does not really explain how the stay was. Our time there was unbelievable. On arrival, after a long trip from Kuala Lumpur airport, we were really made to feel at home. The staff, from Emmanuel the Manager, Sherry and Dashni, the front desk ladies, Soon, the chef, Mike the F&B Manager all the way to the room attendant, Sunil, who produced the most breath-taking towel origamis made us so welcome. We spent a wonderful time doing basically nothing with interludes of trips to Tanah Rata, Brinchang, the Tea Plantations, strawberry farms and even a walk to the top of Gunung Brinchang and also the Jim Thomson Trail. The meals in the restaurant under the direction of Chef Soon were excellent and his Malay food was to die for, while the steam boat in The Gonbie restaurant was also a great experience. If you wish to experience more of the local foods, you may wish to eat in the Golf Club across the road, although no alcohol is served there, or you may wish to eat in Tanah Rata or Brinchang, we did and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would we do it again? - Yes, would we recommend it? – Definitely. What a memorable stay we had. Conal
