"Hotel with colonial feel"
First time visiting Cameron Highlands and selected Cameron Highland Resorts, of opinion that it is 1 of the most reputable hotels in that vacinity. 1. Rooms are non air-conditioned. It is said that temperature is cooling up in the mountains, however to my disappointment it was not as cooling as expected. Windows can be open to allow cold air in but then there will be a lack of privacy as anyone able to climb in from the balcony area. Alternative is on the ceiling fan, but do not expect any cooler it will get. 2. In view of the above, I do not feel the cost is worth it. 3. Breakfast available. Homemade strawberry jam is gd, not too sweet. 4. check out time at 11am, which is a tad earlier whereas most hotels check out is 12pm. Check in timing is also slightly later than most, 3pm. Probably will choose another hotel with colder rooms the next time instead.
"Wierd and wonderful"
This place feels like a bit of a time warp but that is appropriate in this colonial outpost. The staff try very hard but are not entirely competent. The hotel is strung out along the only main road through the region which was not what I expected and made it rather noisy. The pleasant Spa has a reception that was open onto the car park, with the road close behind. However the tea plantations in the area are stunning making the Highlands well worth a visit for a day or two, and I suspect this is the best place to stay.
"Excellent service from all areas of the hotel"
We visited this hotel as part of a Jim Thompson related visit and found it to be excellent. My wife of necessity eats a very strict diet and Edward Chung the chef went out of his way to accommodate her, checking every day to ensure that she was happy with the food on offer. We also received excellent service form the reception team who arranged taxis, restaurant bookings and other services quickly and efficiently at all times. A final commendation must go to Madi the in-house naturalist who took us on a 3 hour complimentary hike through the jungle and on the Jim Thompson trail accessing areas that we would not have able been able to do on our own. His expert knowledge added greatly to our overall enjoyment of the trip. All in all an excellent hotel with good facilities and first class service standards.
"Lovely afternoon tea "
Myself and my parents visited the hotel for afternoon tea. At 60rm a head it is fairly expensive by Malaysian prices but worth the money for sure. Unlimited tea and coffee, good selection of sandwiches and cakes and delicious scones. They happily refilled the jam for me and gave us some spring rolls as a free gift. The staff are attentive and the atmosphere was relaxing and cheerful. At the moment it is decorated for Christmas which was really nice too.
"Sparkling Getaway in CHR"
Me and my wife decided to experience CHR for our Anniversary and we stayed 2 nights. The moment we step-in to the compound we were greeted with friendly staff who took our luggage while we check-in. Staff was friendly, explained to us on our booking and served us a nice hot tea. While waiting for our rooms to be ready, little did we know the Executive Chef of CHR (Edward Chung) came to talk to us. We have initially requested during our booking for vegan meals to be prepared for breakfast and the complimentary dinner. The Chef was nice to reassure us that he would prepare personally for our meals. It was a first for us and unexpected that a hotel Chef would come to talk to us. Hat's off for the warm hospitality by CHR Chef.. :) We were shown to our room and it was comfortable, spacious and had a nice view facing the golf course. Love the bed with poles, the sofa to lounge at and outside balcony to enjoy the sight. The only minus i can say is the noise from the main road which is not within the hotel's control.. Next we went to the Spa to enjoy our complimentary massage. It was very professional and relaxing with the essential oil massage. No rush to sip our tea at the waiting area and enjoy the refreshing air. We had the steamboat dinner on our first night and indeed the staff serving us was very helpful to explain to us. The staff even brought in additional bowl of corn for our steamboat which was not offered on the table. We truly enjoyed our meal and felt the quality of service in CHR. Next day as we went for breakfast, we bumped into Chef Edward. A lovely surprise he went in kitchen and prepared a mushroom pizza toast for us. That is what i call highest customer service without expecting and delighting guest. Overall it was really an unforgettable experience with CHR from the bell boy service, to check-in staff, the room and Chef Edward, I want to Thank everyone for their hospitality and the comfort you've given to us. Thumbs Up to CHR staff !!
