"Not a 5 Star Hotel... 3 at best "

So let’s start with the positive parts of this hotel. 1. The staff, the staff are the nicest people we could have gotten to take care of us, they are attentive and truly care to help as much as they possibly can. 2. The food from the Chinese restaurant was great l, soup they had was great and fresh, beer was over priced at 50 per beer. Desserts unfortunately were dry and bland. 3. Lunch at the tea room, was good, everything w ordered was proper, salad, soup and noodles on point. Now for the bad part, 1. Hotel isn’t what you see in the pictures advertised. The property is very old and outdated it screams a remodel . 2. Rooms are whatever again outdated and bed is hard no soft bed was offered and you can hear everything from the road st night no soundproofing in the rooms. The amenities given are very mediocre, don’t expect any shampoo bottles but instead u get one of those in shower squeezable big bottles that the shampoo is also conditioner so yeah that’s what you get very soft hair it u want it or not. WiFi connection is terribly slow so don’t expect to do much work as it’s really really slow! 3. The gym is small and old, really wish they gave a little effort in offering guests a better experience. 4. Breakfast was nothing special, options were limited and basic. In conclusion I was disappointed w the hotel and w Cameron highlands in general, the village/ town/city which now has many concrete towers made in a very untasteful architecture killing the views and make the experience less green are rising up all over the place. You start seeing trash and garbage in the streets highways but must disappointing when u go to the tea plantations and to Mosley Forrest which is was just for the trio worth seeing the view and being so close to such a beautiful natural park. In general if you are in Malaysia really for us which we traveled to Langkawi, Pankor Laut, Kuala Lumpur and Cameron heights I would say that Kuala Lumpur next time we would stay 2 nights no need for more, not much to do but it’s a nice and clean city full of beautiful architecture, restaurants and green all around. Langkawi was our favorite we stayed at the st. Regis and would recommend it fully and you can stay in the island 5/6 nights and explore its beautiful beaches and hotels but would not go back to Pangkor Laut or Cameron Highlands or stay at the resorts mentioned as they are not at par w a 5 Star Resort, they have much to learn and at most are a 3 Star Hotel.

"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay"

Recently stayed here for two nights as part of a longer holiday in Malaysia/Borneo. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, including the journey uphill from airport. One can travel via the new highway, which proves a little faster if no roadworks, or via the original old winding road which is fantastically scenic. We chose the latter and so pleased we did. One piece of advice, take over the counter travel sickness medication if you’re at all prone to nausea when travelling in a car along narrow winding roads at great heights! I did and it saved the day. Now, to the hotel. Old Colonial style. Smart, comfortable and professionally staffed. Thanks must go out to all who looked after us so well. Unable to remember everyone’s names but without exception nothing was too much trouble. Dining was very good. Had fun trying out the traditional ‘steamboat’ restaurant, simply cooking at the table. Unfamiliar with same but chefs & waiters quickly put us at our ease & we really enjoyed the experience. The other more formal restaurant again was a delight, Mr Mohamed Shukri looking after us so professionally and kindly. Our bedroom & bathroom were generously sized, well furnished & comfortable. Really appreciated a decent bed, quality linen & pillows after our long journey from UK. The public areas ie the tea room and the reading room were particularly calm and relaxing spaces where one could daydream at leisure. Given to understand from a fellow guest that the spa was excellent too, although I had no time to try this for myself. The one shortcoming of this hotel, however, has to be the fact that it sits on the side of a busy main road which seems to have more than its fair share of speeding cars & motorbikes thus generating some traffic noise in guest rooms. Please, Cameron Highland Resort, address this issue as I’m sure the problem could be remedied by clever & sympathetically designed secondary glazing or the like. Oh, and just a brief recommendation to please consider the need of guests to darken their rooms. Sheer voiles don’t allow for this. So overall, a comfortable stay in an attractive old property served by professional & kindly staff in a beautiful part of the world. Have just recommended it to my sister & family who intend visiting next year.

"The best place to stay in the Cameron Highlands"

Although a very short stay, we thoroughly enjoyed it. The welcome on arrival, the courtesy of the reception staff and the breathtaking drive up into the Cameron Highlands is something we would recommend to anyone. The room we had was well appointed with a balcony overlooking the stunning golf course with pine trees. The hotel is situated a mile or two before you get to the town of Tanah Rata. The first two-thirds of the drive up into the hills is spectacular with wonderful views across jungle valleys. The last third of the drive is disappointing insofar as the scenery has been spoiled by the acres and acres of plastic poli-tunnels where all manner of fruit and veg are being grown. We had dinner in the hotel which was both a superb meal and beautifully (and professionally) served by very attentive waiters. All rooms face the views of the jungle and the gold course in the foreground. A lovely hotel and beautiful location. I would not, however, recommend more than 2 nights in the Cameron Highlands unless you have come to play golf.

"Colonial style"

If you are planning to stay in the Cameron Highlands this is definitely the best hotel to go for. A bit dated in some ways but the service is excellent, the rooms spacious, light and airy and the whole experience very 'colonial'. We had dinner here on our one night visit and is was very good indeed. Breakfast the next morning was also nicely done with plenty of choice.

"Afternoon tea: could be better"

Very nice peaceful tea room. Took refuge here as everywhere in the Cameron Highlands was busy during CNY. Staff service very good and friendly. However, jam provided is far too mean (about a teaspoon full for two people) and even when we asked for more we got another mean teaspoon full. However, huge amount of chocolate sauce for dipping very few strawberries in. The water is not boiling hot for the tea, the scones are nice through the raisin ones could do with a lot more raisins, the sandwiches OK but not exciting, they could do with a pastry chef for the cakes. I'd say it's probably a worth while experience as the room is nice and relaxing but I don't think the actual food is up to scratch for an English afternoon tea though allowances have to be made as one is in the middle of the Malaysian countryside. .
