"Good business hotel"
Rooms were luxurious, comfortable and immaculate. But that's about it. Breakfast was uninspiring despite the spread, pool was small and the hotel was very busy. It's a good business hotel but not a holiday hotel. Interesting how hotel guests still had a to pay for parking. I wouldn't come back as there are better hotels in other areas of KL with better location.
"Perfect for a few days in KL"
We loved this hotel! We added an extra day to our trip to make sure we had time to enjoy it, and are so pleased we did. Rooms fantastic, breakfasts you wish could last all day. We even stayed in one evening for the buffet (we would never do this on a city break normally!) and it was so delicious - and reasonably priced. We took the 'free flow' wine option which made a glass of wine or two very reasonable. We used the pool, went to the 'Smoke House' for a cocktail and had afternoon tea in the Tea Lounge - all wonderful. In terms of location, it is very central. We walked just about everywhere except the Petronas Towers (more a constraint of time than distance). We also made use of the free shuttle service when we had worn ourselves out with sightseeing. We went from here to the sister hotel on Gaya Island - completely different but equally highly recommended.
"a comforatable spot in the city"
The Majestic didn't disappoint. The staff were helpful. The breakfast was fantastic. My only criticism was that it was so cold on the 6th floor, it was like being in the Arctic. Rooms are very comfortable. The bar in the old part of the hotel is very atmospheric. Unfortunately, I was sick while in the hotel and so I appreciated the room service.
"Short overnight stay"
Very nice hotel, old style. Only stayed one night, but the hotel definitely left a very good impression. Free shuttle service available to the shopping mall. Stayed for dinner in the restaurant, buffet.....but what a buffet is was !!! Everything was available. Made fresh....from pasta to lamb to Asian to Chinese to Japanese.....you want it they have it ! Rooms are clean and airy, very descent size bathroom with all the usual amenities. Very good service.
"Colonial splendour in Kuala Lumpur"
Spent a wonderful three nights in this beautiful hotel. We booked a Colonial Suite which meant we were in the old part of the hotel built in 1932. It comprised a beautifully appointed period-style set of rooms with an elegant sitting room, a large but cosy bedroom with a hugely comfortable bed and a really smart spacious bathroom. Guests staying in suites may use the Club Room Library Bar for afternoon tea and drinks in the evening. This is such a lovely touch and the attentive staff who looked after us each day in the bar, Jessica, Michelle, Nay Chi and Elino, made it very special indeed. In the evening, the delightful hotel guest singer Irene was a joy to listen to. The whole experience was slightly like going back in time which makes a few days in a hotel like this really magical. Other staff who deserve a mention are Paing and Mueller at Reception who checked us in and Alfie who checked us out. Go while you can. I say that because during the1970s the hotel was giving way to newer, bigger and more luxurious hotels and was only saved from demolition by the government who thankfully classed it as a heritage building under the Antiquities Act. At the end of 1983, the last guests checked out and the hotel became home to the National Art Gallery from 1984 until 1998. I hope that this glorious hotel with its wonderful example of a lost colonial architecture will continue to grow and find its place in modern Kuala Lumpur amongst the behemoths that surround it. Footnote: I would say that the new wing of the hotel does not live up to the standard of the old wing. The attention to detail just isn't the same and it feels like a conference hotel, typical of the large chains. I feel that the main reception area needs to be rethought as it doesn't draw you in and there aren't enough comfortable seating areas for guests to gather. It actually feels like two separate hotels and that really needs to be addressed so that the two blend beautifully together - at the moment that is not happening which is rather a shame.
