"Great hotel in a perfect location"

I've stayed in KL many times and this hotel is in a perfect location for those who need to be close to the KLCC and transportation. The Petronas towers are literally a few minutes walk down the road, there is a monorail station across the road and a LRT station a few minutes walk further. Nearby you will find restaurants and bars. Also not to be missed is the Tourism center just across the road and the free performance at 3pm. As for the hotel, the East wing is newly renovated. I would not choose the West wing as it's outdated. My room was modern and comfortable with many amenities. I found check-in effortless and the staff trying their best to do what they can do make my stay comfortable. Breakfast was good although service could have been better.

"Excellent "

The hotel is very centric by the twin towers. We really loved our room, was big and spacious, with sofa, desk, mini bar, little corridor with a kettle and coffee set, bath and a very big bed 2x2 The service was excellent, it's all clean, nice atmosphere and very very good and complete breakfast and also very good hospitality service.

"Standards and service dropping from our last visit"

The service has certainly gone down from our last visit in October 2015. The reception need re training and were giving the impression they were not really listening to you and kept chatting to each other. We arrived approx 12.00 pm and had booked two rooms and requested ( sent email in advance) higher floors and facing the twin towers. We were told these would be available only at check in time at 14.00, this is despite being a Marriott member.. So we took 1 room facing the swimming pool, considering we had just traveled some 16 hours and waited for the other room at 14.00. However, for a fee they were promoting we take the club room. Breakfast we were told to queue up one day as was busy (10.00 am) and the next two days there were no napkins or serviettes and only got this after several requests. Order for Benedict egg took for ever and nearly gave up on this. What a difference one year makes , last year same time in October we celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary and a cake was sent to our room this year let alone the cake they did not even want to give us the room until 14.00 formal check in time.

"Flawless stay"

Despite all the construction during renovations, and the hotel being split between an East and West Wing (East is where you check-in), service and amenities at the Renaissance are at a very high standard. I would rate them above the JW Marriott currently. My deluxe pool-view room on the 8th floor was spacious (upgraded at check-in), clean, and well-equipped. Wi-fi was good, as was the bed and air conditioning. There are two club floor lounges (I had access as Gold), one in each wing. I found the West Wing club better in terms of food spread and working space, but the East Wing had much better views. The West Wing also had a lack of power outlets close to seating for phones. Breakfast in the East Wing buffet restaurant was a treat, though extremely business. Every staff I talked to or requested anything from was very pleasant, professional, and courteous. An excellent stay in the heart of KL.

"Great location, dis - interested staff"

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights the front desk staff was very dis - interested, and were constantly talking to each other in mandarin in front of me, while I felt like an idiot, thinking if they were talking about me. They said no very easily, & were not helpul. Also, no one explained me what was included in my room rate, no one told me about the fnb outlets. I was given the key & that was it. I have never experienced such a thing in a 5 star hotel. Staff overall looked very bored, and the uniforms looked old aswell. Only commendable staff was a gentleman called Kumar or some other Indian name at concierge desk (My apologies to him, for not remembering the name). He was my go to man, he was always on point, quick & friendly. The hotel should definitely put him on fastrack to a better position. Another good thing was the view form east wing was awesome. The location is excellent, but the hotel really needs to motivate & train its staff to do better.
