"Nice hotel on Long Beach"
We chose Bubu basically because it was the only hotel left which had aircon by the time we were looking. However it seemed to be a good choice anyway. Although it's more expensive than other places on Long Beach it does have nicer rooms, a good restaurant, beach chairs and free cocktails. The free airport transfer also makes life easier. The rooms are nothing special, but quite nice. The shower works very well. I would recommend you also try their Japanese restaurant which is somewhat under advertised. It was actually very good and made a change to the other mamak / Iran baker type places along the beach.
"quiet and peaceful"
there is a beach that is basically used only by the hotel guests. rooms are fine. breakfast is included, there is not a great variety of choice, but quite nice. there is no wifi in the rooms! and the one that you can use in the reception is not working. staff is very friendly. i do recommend this hotel
"Pricey for what it is"
Stayed 3 nights at BuBu on a 3 night snorkelling package. Although the island is a beautiful place, this hotel is not without its issues and does not perform to its price level (we paid £200 per night for a garden deluxe room). As part of our package, we got transfers from Kota Bharu to the hotel. On the way there, the bus transfer was waiting for us in arrivals but we had an hour wait for the boat and when we did get on it was an old fishing boat. If we waited for the boat they normally use for guests, it would have taken another half hour we were told. On the way back we were hustled onto a boat leaving 10 minutes earlier than what we were advised only to wait for around half an hour for the bus transfer. Bubu seem to consider this good service. Our room had large beds but it was very basic apart from that. Wifi is weak to non existent. Each night we had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent, the best part of the hotel; two nights bbq, one night seafood platter. Breakfast is passable but on one day they had run out of pastries by 0930. As part of our package we had a snorkelling trip and the option to purchase a half price trip. We asked if a trip was going the next day on our first night to be told yes and got up early, only to find out the tour wasn't running as visibility in the water was not good. It did not look that bad to me and other boats were going out. We went the next day but this meant we could not do the half price trip - I fed this back to the hotel but they did not comment. The cocktails that are mentioned here were not included as part of of package. We seemed to be the only guests "not included" the logic to this as we had paid more to have a "package" yet lost out on this could not be explained to me. The beach by the hotel is nice but spoilt somewhat by the bulldozer making frequent trips across the beach to do building work on the hotel next door. Overall I would recommend the hotel and the food but certainly not at the price we paid.
"A Nice Island Retreat away from the City "
My family of four stayed at Bubu Long Beach Resort for 4 days in mid-September. This place was beyond my expectations! In the early morning, we took a flight from KL to Kota Bharu airport. Then, very efficiently, there was a shuttle bus from Bubu Resort waiting for us outside the airport. When we got to the jetty, they were also very efficient with the speedboat and we were soon making our way to the island. My first reaction when I reached the island was WOW. The sand was really powdery and white, and the sea was so blue and clear, you could see so many fish around the jetty area. This was my first time here, I've been to Redang several times before. But I have to say, Perhentian is much nicer than Redang! While waiting to check in, they gave us each a welcome drink which was really refreshing. We just couldn't wait to go to the beach! That night, we had dinner at the Japanese restaurant at the resort. It was a little pricey, but the food was great! The staff were also really polite. On day 2, we went on a snorkelling trip to the Big Islands. First stop was Turtle point, then fish point, then shark point. Last we went to beach which I think it's the Marine Park. We had two guides with us, and they looked after us well as we couldn't really swim well. They were also very friendly and enthusiastic. And they made the snorkelling trip really fun. That day, we had lunch at Santai Restaurant. The portions were big, and the food quite nice, and I found the price quite reasonable. We spent our days there chilling at the beach every day till we got sunburnt. I also loved the breakfast. The croissants were so tasty! And yeah, we can see them baking those croissants every morning. The 2 cocktails each day was great too. However, I wish it wasn't just available for 1 hour each day, because it makes me feel like I need to gobble down my glass of cocktail so I can order the next one in time. If you're worried about not bing able to find food here at Long Beach, don't worry. There are lots and lots of restaurants at Long Beach mostly serving local food, but there is one restaurant that sells great pizzas and pastas too. (I can't remember the name) If you're bored of long beach, you can also walk to Coral Beach (there is a gateway near the other end of the island that leads you there) You can also rent kayaks from the resort, but be careful as there are many speedboats coming to and from Long beach. One thing I wasn't happy about is the bus transfer from the jetty to the airport. The driver was driving so slowly, and when we reached the airport, it was already boarding time. Any later and we would have missed our flight! I look forward to coming back to Pulau Perhentian again. And when I do, I would most definitely stat at Bubu Resort once again. The staffs here are so friendly, they make you feel right at home.
"Convenient and Modern"
Came here with a friend for scuba diving. The hotel is clean and modern with all the basics - hot shower, air-condition, fan, nice bed. The good thing about this place is, you get free cocktail between 5-6pm and there are 2 different restaurants serving Japanese, Western and local dishes. Food is really good! However, it is quite expensive and when we got there, there is an on-going construction next to it (guess they are expanding!) You can see tractors on the beach (yep.. hope the construction would end soon)
