"Lovely Quaint Resort"
This is a nice hotel on the long beach side of the island. The rooms are clean and well kept. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The food was definitely geared towards tourists, we were hoping for something more local, but it was tasty. They had happy hour every day from 5-6, 2 drinks per person no charge for guests which was nice. It was a nice escape from all traveling/big cities I had just been in.
"Excellent Resort in the great beach with soft white sands"
We stayed at Bubu Resort as it has great reviews in tripadvisor. True enough, it was really a great resort. From the meet and greet at kuala besut jetty with the friendly staff, who guides us to find nearby carpark and navigate the jetty and marine fee. When we reached the island, we were served fruit punch, and briefed on all the facilities and freebies available. We got 2 cocktails each person at 5-6pm daily. The breakfast was heavenly, with the fact that they baked the croissant in front of our eyes. It was crispy outside and soft inside with great taste. There was also a free beach transfer to turtle beach, where it was really very quiet across the large perhentian island with very clean beach and great scenery. We were also brought to see turtle at the nearby bay. There was also some local restaurant nearby which makes the stay interesting and lively. The staff are really great and helpful. We eat at the resort's Santai Restaurant, every meal here are large in portion, can be shared with 2 people each. There was also Japanese restaurant, but we don't have time to try it. We can also snorkle near the jetty it gots lots of colourful fishes, with a very soft white sands below. The room is well shaped, the aircon is working fine, the only thing missing is a TV, which you won't need anyway since you will be enjoying the beach everyday. They are expanding near the jetty, but we found little disruption during our stay with just a few round of bulldozer trips everyday. The resort is also a bit pricy, but could be reflective to their facilities and service.
"A little ruff around the edges"
Everything is like you would expect. Nice and clean hotel with helpful staff. Beautiful situated right smack on Long Beach of the smaller Kecil Perhentian Island. Breakfast is ok and food in general very good. Marvellous views from balcony. Some negatives: A big building project is going on just next to BuBu Resort. This takes away some of the paradise feeling here. This should be informed to customers when booking. The hotel building is worn down. They tried to put some make up on it but it shines through. Bad water pressure in shower and lacking hot water capacity.
Everywhere else on the beach I had pleasant interactions with restaurant staff EXCEPT at Bubu. Today, I sat in their lounge chairs and before I could order anything, one of their staff members (an Italian man), came over and berated me about how the chairs were only for hotel guests or paying customers. Mind you, out of the 40 chairs in the beach only 4 were occupied. Instead of ordering a cocktail that I wanted, I ordered the cheapest thing on the menu - a bottle of water. Direct correlation to the nasty reception I received. i would not recommend going here as it's overpriced and everywhere else I went people were friendly and helpful and happy to have your service.
"Our return to paradise."
Having visited BuBu in 2015 we had been counting the days until our return. Our Airport pickup with land and sea transfer went flawlessly and the staff at the Kuala Besut office were very friendly and efficient. Upon arrival at the BuBu jetty porters awaited us and carried our luggage to the resort. Checkin was efficient and we were offered a choice between 2 rooms. Once we had chosen our room we were provided with a free welcome drink. Rooms are cleaned daily and of adequate size for 2 people. There is no TV on the island and no refigerator in the room, but why would you want them. This idyllic paradise has beautiful views from your window or from the beach lounges and you go to BuBu to relax. Every morning starts with breakfast included in your room rate where friendly staff will make you omlettes or fried eggs, or select from the choice of precooked hot foods or tropical fruit. Pastries, cereals, breads and rolls available along with fresh fruit juices and coffee made to your request. The Santai restaurant has a comprehensive range of well priced delicious Western and Asian fusion foods plus a nightly BBQ. There is also a Japanese themed restaurant as part of the resort. We saw no need to eat anywhere else on the island. From what we could see other restaurants may have cheaper food but it was not of the same standard. Drinks are very well priced. Our total food and drinks cost for 7 days eating 7 dinners and 6 lunches with wine in the evening, multiple beers, mixed spirits and softdrinks served to us on the beach came to MYR 1,860 for the 2 of us. Worked out to AUD $44 per person per day. That is value. PLUS every day at 5pm laying on our beach lounges on the pristine white sand one of the many friendly staff will hand you a menu to choose the first of your 2 free cocktails each guest receives daily. Overall we were very happy with our stay especially the wonderful treatment from the staff who were always keen to please and made us feel very welcome. We will return again... Peter & Judy
