We stayed three nights here. The 'dwellings' are individual houses surrounding a lake. Ours was a Forest dwelling, with a swimmable private pool. The ground floor was all bathroom with zen type garden and pool and the bedroom was upstairs with another loo. The food in the restaurant was first class, with excellent service everywhere. We had one lunch at our table by our pool and again the service was prompt and excellent. We didn't use the main pool, which is right by the bar and sitting area. There is a small but well equipped gym in the Spa area. Wifi works well everywhere.

"Very Unique Eco-setting"

Luxury villas in the heart of what feels like a nature reserve. Loved the villas (we stayed in a "water dwelling" extremely spacious and comfy. The grounds are amazing with great opportunities for wildlife spotting and birding. Staff is extremely friendly and food is tasty as well.

"Beautiful mini paradise"

Vil Uyana was a naturalists dream - there are animals everywhere! Thankfully the hotel allowed us to check in early at 9am because our flight arrived at 4am, usual check is after 2pm. From our first step into the grounds we were treated like royalty, the beautiful dwellings, lake and scenery blew us away. We stayed in a Paddy field dwelling, the decking walkways and the peacefulness on the area really made it feel so special. The dwelling itself was an eco friendly dream, everything was explained - how it was built, how it involved the local community, it definitely made the place feel well rounded. The food is a la carte, breakfast was good quality food and the portion size was large - I dont think we finished the whole lot on any of our days! Evening meals were amazing, there were canapes, amuse bouche and palete cleansers slotted into the meal. We both got a 45 minute spa treatment with our honeymoon package, the experience was so relaxing. We both covered arms and legs in the evening because of the mosquito rick - luckily with only saw a few when we stayed there after it had rained - but the rooms provide a plug in and mosquito net round the bed and the dwellings are built with citronella all around them. We didn't go on any of the tours the hotel offered but we saw plenty of nature around, the resident crocodile came to join us for breakfast on our last day, and monkeys escorted us to our room regularly, there are peacocks and lizards wandering around. The staff were so friendly, the housekeepers were lovely and the chefs always came out to talk to people. The hotel is a short drive from Lion Rock and staff are more than happy to provide information on when / where to go. We had an amazing time, we were sorry to leave, we would recommend this place to everyone - we didn't see any children around though!

"Luxurious paradise in nature!"

This place is a true paradise. We stayed 2 nights at Jetwing Vil Uyana and were blown away by this resort. You feel immediately welcome when sitting in the lobby and enjoying the welcome drink with a view. The resort structure is perfectly designed and embedded into the nature. There are different types of villas, which all look amazing, very private and very charming. We stayed at the Paddy Dwelling villa and even had our own plunge pool on our terrace. The wooden jetty that led to our villa leads across rice paddies and make you feel directly connected to the nature around. The bungalow itself is huge and so well designed that you feel like jumping up and down in joy after opening the door. The bathroom is stunning and you can even enjoy a bath in the huge bathtub with candles before heading to bed. Due to the plentiful lemongrass around the bungalow, we were protected naturally from mosquito bites. Because of the very private structure of the rooms, you feel like you are the only guest in the resort and only sees the others during breakfast and dinner time. The food is very tasty and they even got their own wine cellar with over 2,000 wines from all over the world. At night, they light up candles to guide the way across the pond to the restaurant area, which looks truly beautiful. During breakfast time, there is even a crocodile relaxing next to the main restaurant in the lake, which was a great surprise (please do not feed). If you like to relax and calm down outside of your own villa, there is no such place like sitting in the open library overlooking the lake or climbing up the tree house in the jungle area. A lot of mammals can be spotted around here. The location is perfect for exploring the Sigiriya area and climbing the Sigiriya lion rock as this takes only a few minutes from the resort by taxi. The staff delivered excellent service and was always very friendly, helpful and open for a chat. To our surprise, they knew always who we are including our room number, which was really impressive. It has been a wonderful stay & we can highly recommend this place to everyone, who is looking for a luxurious stay surrounded by nature. It has been a great place for us to celebrate our engagement :)!

"Great base for exploring Sigiriya"

Vil Uyana is an ecologically committed hotel ideally positioned for Sigiriya and neighbouring attractions. We spent two nights there - and thoroughly enjoyed our time. the rooms are all individually placed on wetlands, so that a short walk to the main reception and restaurant is required -unlike other reviewers we did not find this in any way an imposition, and welcomed the space and privacy. The staff were all extremely helpful - we were very impressed by the chef coming round the dining room every morning to chat to guests. The service and standard of the meals was very good - we stuck throughout to Sri Lankan meals. Tours of wildlife in the grounds were available (at an extra charge) - we did not do thee but still saw a wide variety of birds, and even the local crocodile! We noted that there have been some mixed views of the hotel and, in particular of the rooms and catering. We had absolutely no complaints here and would happily recommend it as part of a visit to this part of the country.
