"Beautiful and Peaceful"
We stayed in a beautiful dwelling with private plunge pool for 3 nights on our honeymoon and would go back in a heart beat. The grounds are lovely to meander around with lots of wildlife to spot (look out for the slender loris) The dwellings are spread out so very quiet and private. The common areas are beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed International and Sri Lankan food in the restaurant and had a wonderful private meal in the treehouse. We also had a fabulous treatment in the spa. This resort is a couples paradise and is perfectly located in the cultural triangle. I really hope to return some day.
"Amazing environment & staff"
Loved staying here and cant wait to return again. lovely staff, beautiful environment, so close to SIgiriya Rock. we will definitely go there again. staff very helpful, nice restaurant as well. my kids loved the room.
This is a smaller hotel in a recreated marshland setting. So don't expect every bell and whistle (like a large pool or tennis court) even though most of the bases (like good quality dining) are covered. The bungalow rooms were more than comfortable with an indoor/outdoor bathroom and separate outdoor sitting area to relax. For most guests the hotel will not be a destination by itself but be a very comfortable base from which to explore the truly four remarkable cultural places nearby. We used the hotel to arrange all excursions (they provided a car, driver, host and arranged all guides and entry). An astounding highlight was to spot a pair of tiny, extremely rare, Lorus primates in the trees near our rooms. For the more adventurous I can recommend using a mountain bike from the hotel to take the backroads to the nearby village. I would also strongly recommend a very early start when you visit the Sigiriya to avoid any congestion and to catch the morning mists.
"One of my favourite hotels"
Enjoyed a fabulous three nights here.... an amazing Christmas treat for the two of us. It has to be one of my favourite hotel stays. The setting is perfect, the accommodation first class and the service pretty good too. The villas are spread over a large area so you very much have your own space while the villas themselves offer lots of space, both in and out, a very comfortable bed, powerful shower, huge bath (though no door for the WC) and well stocked mini bar. The hotel is a good base to explore the cultural triangle sights and the national parks but it's very difficult to leave the beautiful location surrounded by an array of wildlife: monkeys, crocodiles, loris and birds galore. Service is good throughout, high praise to the restaurant and bar teams for their help. We stayed on a half board rate, which has a limited daily set menu, but were able to use that as a contribution to the a la carte menu if we wished. The food was also very good, especially the curry dishes, while the breakfast options were also tasty although there is only an a la carte breakfast menu which meant you had to allow sufficient time if you needed to get away for a tour etc. If I have to look for negatives, the wifi quality isn't the best, which appears to be the norm and the front desk communication could be better (we didn't know how the half board dining options worked until we asked at dinner). We also both had spa treatments and separately thought that the therapists were under time pressure and were rushing. However, nothing could have spoiled our wonderful stay at Vil Uyana and we would love to return.
"New Year's Eve 2016"
We spent two nights at this hotel and were overwhelmed by the kind and attentive staff as well as the amazing effort they put into planning and executing the NY Eve party. Our family had the best New Year's Eve ever there. The dining room was beautifully set up with elegant table settings, festive hats and poppers and a total knock out buffet. The ice sculptures would have been amazing to see anywhere, but these were so creative and fun--backlit with colors and spelling out "goodbye 2016" with a quick midnight changeover to a "happy new year 2017." This alone required multiple staff while the fireworks blasted over the lagoon. The food spread was fantastic and we met people from all over the world who were enjoying the evening as much as we were. Congrats to the whole staff and happy new year!
