"Only Choice in Bandarawela! Could be Better "
We stayed 18th Feb night here with my cousins' family in 3 double rooms. Whole hotels is like a colonial type bungalow and we were felt like visitors of a British Governor in his bungalow. This cosy resort has the comfort to make you relax and feel the silence of calmness surrounded there. The double rooms we were offered was not that spacious and made us felt a bit creepy with its setup. Lighting needs to be improved as it's kind of gloomy inside even with all the light on. Rooms didn't have cable TV facilities as stated. Hallway balcony had a picturesque view of the mountains overlooking the in house flower garder in middle. Property has a one main garden in front and a kids play area full of colorful Daisies n Roses. The late eve spent in d garden was truly amazing with the view and the light cold breeze came down the mountains. Dinner was ok but the spread was not upto the "Aitken Spence" standards we've expected according to our previous experiences. Staff was helpful and generous with their services all the time. Barman made nice cocktails for us and Hi5 for that. Few suggestions to facilitate rooms with kettles and boiling facilities and also to think of widening the buffet spread. It was a unique experience for us and could've been more better if the points highlighted were done. Like to be there again. Thanks all and Good Luck!!
"Senior American couple traveling"
We reviewed this hotel in January and gave it high stars. This time we found the same classical run colonial hotel, however the restaurant was not in good form. We feel that the hotel is lowering standards to accommodate large tour groups, especially in the restaurant. Service was lacking, food standard was average at best, and poor in some respects. Breakfast was a picked over buffet instead of kitchen fresh served. The rather elegant dining room was full of noisy and ultra casually dressed European tourists in shorts, backpacks, and thongs. Not the elegance we reported earlier.
"Colonial Type of Hotel with wheel chair access"
This was the only hotel I could find with wheel chair access for my mum in Bandarawela and Ella area. Spacious rooms with all the facilities still maintain the colonial look. Great Restaurant and bar. Staff members were friendly and helpful.
"Just a lunch stop - but very good"
On a wet day in Bandarawela it was a great find, this old colonial style hotel. Great to just have a wander round it and look at the artifacts, as it was we found it an excellent lunch stop, with a variety of food delivered to the lounge.
"Colonial times revisited"
This old, lovely, and unintentionally kitchy hotel provides the traveller with great service and a peek into Sri Lanka's colonial past. The rooms are simple, but comforatable, It is a great oasis after trekking through tea gardens and seeing the sights. The town itself is unremarkable, but there are some lovely hiking areas which are easily accessed by tuk-tuk or car from this location. We stayed two nights and enjoyed tea-time in the garden, cocktails in the bar/lounge, and loved people watching in the dining room during dinner and breakfast. There are a fair amount of guests and tour groups here, so don't expect solitude. This large hotel nevertheless delivers personable and always polite service.
