"Our Family trip to Nuwara Eliya"
It is very nice hotel with nice view around with gloomy mountains. Even though the road to the hotel is not good at the end of it your mind become peaceful and calm. Staff is very good and helpful. Very clean and every thing is in order. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and definitely come again.
"Very unique property!"
We arrived as a group of ten after a long day and travel. Just when you think you’re there, you have to drive up the mountain-side on a single lane road. That means if someone else is coming the opposite direction, one vehicle has to back up and let the other pass. This was the biggest downfall of the location.... Now it’s all sunshine and rainbows from here... Check in was easy and our entire group had rooms in the same wing. The food was great. We were on a half board plan so we had breakfast and dinner included. The staff was polite and accommodating. I loved that the chef made himself visuals and loved talking to the guests about the food. The croissants were some of the best we’ve ever had. While we were there, it was fairly cold. They provided a heater when we were in the bar which was nice! Internet was spotty and we were constantly having to log back in, even after being idle for only 5 minutes. Loved sitting in the lobby and watching the machines work each evening at 7:15. Perfect with their delicious espresso martini. The tea plucking activity cannot be missed!! A truly unique experience!
"Not your ordinary luxury hotel"
This hotel adds to the culture of the local area, and well worth a visit. Once again most tourists staying here are in a rush, why not stay that extra night as we did, allowing a more relaxed pace to explore the surrounding tea plantations and village. The hotel is very comfortable, and one of the largest selections of fresh fruit for breakfast i have seen in many years. The dinner menu had lots of variety, highlighting the very best of Sri Lanka food, combined with friendly service this added to the enjoyment staying here. We tried the high tea, what a treat! Don’t rush, stay an extra night, it’s worth it.
"Amazing property - wish the prices were a little lower"
It's truly an amazing property - what with the history, the conversion from a working tea factory, the atmosphere, the location (in the middle of nowhere), nestling in the middle of misty tea gardens. The staff are very friendly, as in all of Sri Lanka and happy to do things for you A) I wish the prices were a bit lower (this is seriously exorbitant) B) I wish they, given their room rates, didn't charge for other things (LKR 250 for the pool table, LKR 500 for tea plucking, LKR 200 for a walk around the tea estate etc) - these are small amounts but also unnecessary, no (can't be greater than 0.1% of revenue, so why do it)? The food was good but never spectacular, until we figured why - basically the staff cater to the visiting Europeans & Chinese - so with our love for local, spicy food, we were getting constantly disappointed - took us a couple of days to figure out way around this and then towards the end things were better. Lastly - it was our 2nd honeymoon / a kind of anniversary trip - which the hotel had been informed of a week in advance via email - and then again during check in. They did nothing - no upgrade / anything special. On the last day - when I saw another couple get a cake for their anniversary - I went and told the reception why were weren't given the same treatment. And that's when Samit, at the reception, swung into action. Next morning wifey got a lovely bouquet, we got a cake and, in the best touch of all, he organized for us to plant two tea saplings in their tea estate (we have a photo, a certificate and the tree numbers so we can watch them grow when we visit again). Little things but they made all the difference - and that's what the hospitality industry is about isn't it ? We left with a smile on our face !
"Incredible hotel set amongst tea plantations "
Beautiful hotel that is a converted tea factory with most stunning view over the tea plantations and surrounding valleys. All hotel staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Especially shamal and nuwan from the restaurant, they really went the extra effort to make sure everything was to our needs even with my very difficult allergy diet requirements. The food was incredible and so much choice. Best meal in Sri Lanka! It has beautiful gardens, maze and working tea factory to explore. Beyond our expectations! Highly recommend this beautiful property!!!
