"Ended up not being able to stay"

After arriving, I was taken to a room that was dirty and run down. After being alone in it for less than five minutes, I was so overwhelmed with the smell of mildew and mold, that I went back to the front desk to see if there were any other rooms available. They showed me a couple of more rooms, but all of them had the same horrible, overwhelming smell. I finally asked if all of the rooms smell that way. The answer was yes. The rooms that I saw were all dirty and run down. There was even a lizard in one of the rooms- just hanging out on the wall. Beware- the hotel looks nothing like it does on the internet. I decided that I wouldn't be able to stay there. I asked for a refund and was told that I would have to contact my travel agent. Regardless, I ended up leaving and staying in a hostel, which was way nicer than this "resort." Almost two months later, I was finally able to get a refund. Other notable things- the pool bar area advertised online was closed down, leaving much to be desired outdoors. Not sure if it has reopened. Also, the hotel is not within walking distance of "downtown" Bocas. I was able to get there in a taxi for $2, but there are no restaurants or shops within walking distance.

"Save Your Money"

We booked this place at the last minute while on vacation in Bocas del Toro. Wish we would have saved our money and just stayed longer at the place we were already at. The towels were horrible. The linen actually flaked off and stuck to your skin. When you dried off after a shower, you then had to wipe yourself down to get all the towel linen off yourself. We never used the sitting area in our suite as there was no light in there. It was too dark to read or do much of anything. We tried eating in the restaurant a couple times and ended up taking our food up to the room to eat due to black flies. As soon you the food is on your table in the restaurant, black flies are constantly swarming you. Your food goes cold because you are spending all your time swatting flies away. We spent the rest of the vacation eating in town. Our only staff complaint was on check out with the front desk. When we checked in we were told they needed a credit card on file in case there are any room charges. To us this was a normal request so we gave them it. They said they put a $400 preauthorization on it. On check out we wanted to pay all our charges with cash. She told us if we don't pay it with the credit card, then the hold will stay on it for 45 days. That is ridiculous! After arguing for over 10 minutes, we had to put some amount on the credit card to have the hold removed so we put $1 on it then paid cash. She was not happy about that but we did not want to pay by credit card as we would pay a higher exchange rate and also because they charge you an extra 4% on credit card payments. Guess that might explain why they try to make you pay by credit card. The only good things I have to say about this place is the pool was really nice and the bar/restaurant staff was excellent.

We booked for the period 11/18-Nov-16 but by 12-Nov we had decided to check out as soon as possible and return home To start positively the only good that can be said about this hotel was that the swimming pool was good. Everything else was either poor or at best mediocre and in my view the hotel does not justify a 4 star rating for the following reasons. 1. On arrival at the hotel there was a strange musty smell that pervaded the Hotel including our allocated room - 328. 2. On checking in we were told that we had to wear a paper "bracelet" at all times - presumably for identification purposes. We refused. We subsequently surmised that had we agreed to this then we would immediately be recognisable as guests at the Hotel by the shopkeepers and tradesmen in the town and would be treated accordingly - I suspect not to our advantage. 2. Immediately after arrival we noticed that there wasn't a lift. As our room was on the third floor we were fortunate to receive the assistance of the only available porter - we would not have been able to manage our luggage without his assistance. 3. On entering the room we noticed the following: - the lighting was inadequate to the extent that we never used the dingy sitting room. - there was no "convenience tray" which meant that every time we wanted a drink we had to either use room service or go to the restaurant - nor was there a mini bar. - there were no drinking glasses in the room nor were they provided even following a request. - the hairdryer in the bathroom wasn't working and it took the Hotel more than 24 hours to rectify the problem. Clearly the room had not been checked following the departure of the previous quests. - whilst the "in room safe" functioned in that it could be locked it seemed insecure in its location. 4. As to the restaurant. Apart from the buffet breakfast the choices for which were extremely limited we ate in the restaurant / coffee shop only twice. The menu was extremely limited being the same for both lunch and dinner and the service was not what one would expect from a 4 star Hotel. As previously stated this Hotel in no way merits its grading as a 4 Star Hotel and whilst we will be returning to the Island in mid February 2017 for a few days we have already selected alternative accommodation.

"Pool party en Playa Tortuga "

Went with a bunch of Family and had a wonderful time... Free kayak on their private beach... Only hotel pool in Bocas... A short ride from town... Beds where amazing but the customer service was average!

"Great place for some relaxing time"

Go to this place if you want to relax!! Don't do to this place if you expect that there are shops around, that's in bocas town. This is a really good hotel with a super pool and good clean rooms (and good beds!).
