Over Isla Verde

"Large Rooms in Pleasant Setting Close to Town"
Two blocks from center of town, for easy walking to a variety of restaurants. Strong WiFi with decent speed. Quiet. Surrounded by green bushes and trees (hence the name), with each cabin isolated from the others. Some of the rooms have full kitchens, complete with microwave and oven, though ours did not (we did not take the most expensive rooms, since only staying a couple nights). Very pleasant, easy-going staff will help with anything you need. Laundry is available and cheap ($8 per load), and came back in 4 hours after we gave them the clothes.
"Great for Families, Not a Luxury Hotel"
Isla Verde was a perfect place for my daughters and me to stay while studying Spanish at Habla Ya. It was clean, spacious, and I appreciated having a kitchen. My daughter loved sleeping in the loft area, and if we go back we will most likely stay there again. It is basic, there is not much spa-like about it (those are other Boquete hotels). The grounds are nice and well-kept, and there is a restaurant on site that provides breakfast, though breakfast was not included in our stay. I have a few quibbles with the place. First of all, they do not provide, nor do they sell, bottled water. I get it if you don't want to provide it for free (though for the price this seems pretty basic) but not having it for sale was a pain in the neck. They sold beer and wine, but we had to lug a jug home from the grocery store. After this first trip we were able to boil water on the stove, but the hot plate took at least 30 minutes to bring water to a boil. Look, I hate plastic and avoid bottled water whenever possible, but at least provide one bottle that we can refill. Stomach flu is a bad way to start a Panama vacation. Second, there was nothing provided for cleaning shoes. It is rainy season, there is a lot of construction on the street leading to the hotel and mud. Charging us $4 because we used a wash cloth on our shoes (when there was no alternative) just seems petty. Perhaps these things would not have bothered me as much if the price were a little lower. I felt like we were paying a lot for Boquete, and at these prices one washcloth or a bottle of water should not be an issue.
"Really nice hotel in Boquete"
Our family of 5 stayed in the roundhouse. The staff were fantastic - answering questions for us, helping us figure out tours, etc. The room was really nice - plenty of everything - towels, beds, etc. One of the smaller beds sagged significantly, but our daughter was happy... The grounds are immaculately maintained. Everyone is so relaxed that it made us feel relaxed and comfortable. A short walk to the main street which was nice - to be just a bit away from the central part of Boquete, yet close enough to walk to town. Add the continental breakfast and you won't be disappointed.
Clean, well appointed room. About three blocks from the Main Street of Boquete. Great restaurant on premises. Hot water in shower only, not bathroom or kitchen sinks. The grounds are beautiful with flowers everywhere.
"An easy fix would have made this rating a 4."
I had to think hard about whether to rate this place a 3 or 4... The setting is pretty and conveniently located to the downtown area which is what we needed since we had to catch a shuttle to the east coast. The room was clean. Wifi was strong. The one big flaw, at least for our room, is that there were bright outside entrance lights on all night that easily shown through the thin white curtains. Very hard to sleep with all of the bright light and getting a good night's sleep is my top priority wherever I stay. Room-darkening shades is an easy fix. We tried to figure out how to turn the lights off but couldn't since controls are not in the room. Onsite restaurant awesome. Free breakfast wasn't ready at 7, the scheduled start time, and we could not stay longer to enjoy it so missed out on that. The views at Boquete were pretty but we had just come from a lovely small mountain village on the other side of the volcano and I could only see the appeal to come to Boquete would be to easily take advantage of area tours.
