The only good think about this hotel is the large room. This is the worst choice I have made in a long time considering the huge offer in this price range in Panama City. My room had a connecting door with the room next to it and the door was so cheap that I hear everything the neighbors did, including taking and walking like we were in the same room. I asked to have another room and this one had no hot water (the reception guy told me there is no hot water in same parts of the building), no TV and the AC was so old and made such a noise that was impossible to use. I had a morning flight and when I went to have my breakfast I was told is only from 7 am (first time I see this in a hotel), so if you have a morning flight don’t count on their breakfast.
"Decent stay, good location and value, mediocre service"
Pros: good location, excellent value, huge and charming rooms Cons: service was mediocre as front desk staff was inconsistent, first room was very dark and lacked a working safe (I used the one in a nearby room), breakfast was basic I would stay there again, but would caution visitors from abroad that this is a 2.5 to 3 star property by American and European standards.
"Wonderful Colonial Hotel"
Wonderful hotel in downtown area, we had the Jr Suite and it was very large had everything we needed also includes breakfast was an excellent meal, this hotel is in a good walking area, the staff was very helpful with information on restaurants. We wished we had stayed longer
"Old Charm and Great Location "
Love the old character and location of this hotel! The rooms are clean, large and quiet on the 2nd floor. The staff was polite and friendly. The location is walking distance to most everything. Restaurants, markets, shopping, casinos. The breakfast is just so so. Nothing fancy, but sufficient. The usual fruits, cereales, breads, and an assortment of cheeses, eggs on occasion and meat and cold oatmeal that was meant to be served warm. Juices and coffee. There is a restaurant was closed. The internet is very slow. Sent from my iPad
"History and Elegance from another time."
Love this hotel! The rooms are large, quiet, and elegantly appointed. The reception and other areas of the hotel have the same elegant ambiance. Grand, dark, over-sized furniture. Lots of art on the walls. But, it has faded from its former glory days, somewhat. It is still perfectly located, still has the character that few hotels can come close to. With a friendly, and handsome staff. Oscar and Carlos in reception were great. The room cleaning staff were helpful and quick. Little problem... On check-in, we were shown a room that was perfect, except there was a water issue. The second room was lovely, with a view, even larger, but it was a smoking room. Imagine, in this day and age, a smoking room?! The smell was intolerable. The third room was the charm. Just perfect! The bathroom is equipped with a large shower, closet with safe. Enormous counter space for travel items. The bedroom/living room included a king bed (comfy), a sofa and chair with large coffee table. A separate desk/writing area, and a large armoire with a tv, small fridge and plenty of clothes storage inside. (I've stayed in apartments in Paris and NYC that were smaller than this room!) The location is walking distance to most everything. Restaurants, markets, shopping, casinos. The breakfast is fine. Nothing fancy, but sufficient. The usual fruits, cereals, breads, and an assortment of cheeses, eggs, meat and oatmeal. Juices and coffee, of course. There is a restaurant, but it's only open during high season. We'll have to come back for that... One big problem for us was the internet. Every floor has its own modem. Sounds great. However, in some places in our final room, Internet was non-existent. Sometimes we had to sit by the door, or even open it to check email. That said, This hotel is still a deal! And, We'll be back.
