"Perfectly fine for a short stay or business trip"
The location is good and everything went fine - near to dining, shopping and pharmacies. The beds were comfy and the AC was a blessing. Still, if I were to stay longer in Panama City I would probably try to stay in the Casco Viejo or somewhere outside Panama City. We stayed at the Toscana on an overnight layover to South America. The best thing was a cab driver outside the hotel took us around to see the Canal and other sites for a few hours the day we were there. It also did have a business center that came in handy.
"Service Rates a Zero!!!"
On our second day, we ran out of toilet paper. My wife went to the desk to ask for more and was told that someone would bring to to us. TWO hours later my wife went to the desk for a second time requesting more toilet paper and the woman at the desk seemed annoyed... not at my wife but at the staff. FOUR hours later after we went out to have dinner we went back to the front desk to show the staff that "we had to go out to buy our own toilet paper"!!! On top of all of this, no one had cleaned our room this day, leaving us with dirty towels! Do not use this Hotel! You will be disappointed like we were!!!
"Comfortable and quite"
I had to stop in Panama City for one night and this hotel was suggested to me by a friend. The room was comfortable and clean.Small bathroom. Breakfast was pre-made and very basic. Communicating in English with the staff was limited, although they were nice. I asked for an early wake up call and luckily I set the alarm on my phone cause the call never came.
"A Nice Place to Stay"
My husband and I spent two nights here before flying home from Tocumen (the reason we'll probably not return to Panama). The hotel is in a nice area. Many people reviewed that it was in a safe area within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. We found this to mostly be true. The shopping was unbelievable, the restaurants we found to be limited. The hotel is clean and quiet. Our room was a nice size, very clean with nice amenities including a refrigerator. The bedding was quite comfortable and the room so quiet that I didn't have to use earplugs which I never leave home without. The staff, with the exception of the front desk person, were kind and courteous. The front desk person i dealt with both days, I found to be surly with an attitude. You could stand there in front of the desk with no one else around, and unless you addressed her, she would just ignore you. We were early for checkin and understood that the room wasn't ready. We were told that check in was 3:00 and no rooms would be ready until at least that time. We asked to have a taxi called, which she refused to do, but did ask the bellman to help us. He was quite kind and did his best to find us a ride. The only other thing we asked was if our boarding passes could be printed. She did comply with this request, but I really thought that maybe she might have misunderstood and instead thought that I'd asked if she would drink a cup of poison. I'm sure this is not true of all the front desk people, but this was our experience. Other than that, it was a very nice place to stay and I would recommend it. Maybe you'll get lucky and someone pleasant will great you.
"Panama City - Toscana Inn"
The hotel was very nice; however, english while spoken was not the way to communicate. If you don't speak and understand Spanish you may be in trouble. The staff were very helpful and couterous. I arrived late at night the end of Mar. The desk clerk helped me with my bags to my room and then came back with a picher of COLD water. Rooms are very clean and beds very comfortable. I stayed there on my way to a 10 day dive trip and then on the return. My only suggestion is that you make sure to take you own alarm clock. I asked for a 0500 wake-up call that never came. Good thing I had an alarm clock with me. Internet is very fast and was free with the room. Breakfast in the dining room was included with the room cost.
