"Great resort for taking time off "

I had the privilege of spending three nights at diani reef resort. It's in the center of everything bars, restaurants and seaside fun. Hotel service is quick and friendly. The bar in the lobby has incredible service and nice views of the beach.

"Great place, beautiful surroundings, a lovely spa but lots of room for improvement on service."

This hotel offered great spa services. Their massage therapists are well trained and will not make you regret your money. The room we stayed in (room 4045) only had a partial view of the ocean, but since we spent most of our time at their Fins restaurant, which was right on the beach, or taking strolls down the beach it wasn't much of an issue. There were guards on duty from the hotel looking over the immediate beach areas and with other hotels all along the beach we felt more safe and enjoyed the beach more than other that we have visited in Kenya. That being said however, the beach is NOT at all over-crowded and provides plenty of room to enjoy as a group or with your family. There were also beach chairs and towels provided by the hotel for us to relax after a swim in the ocean. Here we ordered lunch and some drinks but had to wait over 45 minutes before our order finally arrived. The food was also cold which was very disappointing. The food overall was not that great but we discovered a shopping complex type of thing right across the hotel which offered several restaurants with decent food and were not very expensive. The hotel's bars offered great variety in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks but were quite overpriced. The rooms provided a comfortable accommodation, but the TVs in the room had a very limited number of working channels. We were very annoyed by the room service as well when our Wifi stopped working at one point and we received help well after an hour and several calls to remind the room service department. The hotels sport and activity center organised a dive for us which turned out to be one-of-a-lifetime experience. The area around the hotel has a huge reef with extremely diverse marine life. Although when we went in the glass-bottom boat with the same sport and activity center it was an over-crowded, rushed and unpleasant experience that was just an utter waste of time. Despite the small problems I found the place quite relaxing with its beautiful ocean view and had a great time with my family.

When we got to our room, there were two seperate beds instead of a double bed, the safe was broken and the door could not be locked and started an alarm at every attempt to close it. We asked, if we could have another room, but were told that it wasnt possible. So we waited until at least the safe was exchanged a good half an hour later. The alarm was eventually fixed, the door could however never be locked from inside like it was supposed to. We were told, they would replace the seperate beds, but in the end they just pushed the two mattrasses together and used one bedding for it instead of two. Together with now only one mosquito net, that hangs over one side of the bed instead of the middle, the net would always lie on half the bed on the other side and cut down half the space - unless you want to sleep with it in your face. On the day of our arrival there was a special dinner planned, however, noone at the reception could tell us, what it would cost, as they said it was à la carte and, therefore, the price would depend on our choice. Meanwhile, at the beachfront restaurant that belongs to the resort we were told by a waiter and the manger, that they were also open this evening. When we went there for dinner, we found out they had actually closed and the special dinner turned out to be buffet with a fixed price. Service is generally poor: we waited 30minutes for a coffee before getting told it would take a bit longer and cancelled. We walked from the beach to the bar to get some drinks but were told we should wait at the beach for someone they would send to us - unsurprisingly noone ever came. The dining/breakfast hall has a very mass-tourism feel to it. The breakfast itself is very mediocre. There was always jingle bells and like playing in the background as panflute versions, giving the impression like having breakfast in a mall. In general the resort looks like a place that used to be very nice but now just tries to squeeze the last bit of money out before falling apart

"No complaints"

Was in Diani Reef for business, therefore my review is not comprehensive. No complaints on the room or service. Best thing was the food. Quite tasty buffet meals. Was here during low season, hotel was not full, therefore variety of meals was limited. Al a carte restaurant by the beach had tasty meals as well.

"Terrible service "

I waited 45 minutes to get a beach towel. In the end I went to the spa and managed to each. Terrible service. Two days ago my brother and I went to the gym and ordered our food and drink. We had to wait 30 minutes to get a bottle of water! The sandwiches were disgusting. My brother had a cheese sandwich and there was a tiny layer of cheese and mostly bread. My chicken wrap was soaked in oil and the chips were disgusting. After today I will not be coming back here
