"I wish i would have read one honest review...this is it"
I read so many reviews before i went and was COMPLETELY misled so here it is...warts and all. Firstly the PROS: 1. Very close to the Anderson gate to Etosha. Only one camp closer. 2. Vert friendly staff...not very efficiebt but very friendly. 3. Swimming pool is clean with plenty of towels and loungers. 4. Breakfast is fantastic. Good choice with freshly baked muffins, omelettes to order, fruit salad, cheese and hood selection of cereals and toasts. 5. Rodney the game ranger who yakes the game drives is a legend. Fabulously knowledgeable and a great tracker and great company in 7 languages!! 6. Great showers in the cabins. But unfortunately the CONS: 1. No wifi. Not just in the rooms. They tell you wifi i avsilable in the central atra but it is so poor. It took 3 days to download an emsil. Do NOT stay here if you need to be in touch with the outside world. 2 no tv and no telephone to reception in the rooms so if you want to tell them something eg the aircon does not work, you walk 10 minutes there and 10 monutes back to tell them. 3. Aircon eventually worked but leaked 4. No minibar and no fridge in the room so everything is lukewarm and if you want anything cold to drink, you get up, vet dressed and walk 10 minutes to the central area. ..not my idea of a hotel! 5. Dinner is awful and very expensive. For 330 namibian dollars you get a basic but ok salad choice, soup i didnt taste and horribke leathery dried out meat and veggies smothered in sauce...like boarding school . Desert was something wobbly! There is no ala carte option. So if you dont need wifi, cold drinks in the heat of summer or edible dinner, everything else was great ! Except no coffee creamer in the rooms and none appeared after asking every day for 3 days...maybe i was the only milk coffee drinker guest they have had!
"Largest lodge we stayed"
This was a very large lodge - well over 70 chalet huts - and which takes coach parties. It is 10 kms from the Andersson, or south, Etosha NP Gate. As the chalets were spread along the ridge and there were 3 swimming pools along the length, it did not generally feel crowded, though the central eating and drinking areas obviously were congested at times. There was a clothing and souvenir shop in this area. Staff were generally attentive and the overall feeling to this area was of a well run lodge. Housekeeping and maintenance was less satisfactory in the chalets (see below). There was a a large T shaped 'pier' area built out from the rear of the central area and level with the ridge for drinks and most of the tables. This was lovely and gave great views of the surrounding mainly flat landscape and especially of the stunning sunsets. There was a long flight of steps to the main lobby and again a few around the pier and indoor areas - these latter were not well lit at night, and so this main area generally was not suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties. There was also a path in front of the chalets separate from the road making an interesting walk leading to the bottom of the pier, and which was then reached by a flight of steps. Given the distance (about 10 - 15 minutes walking if at the end of the line), your could drive to the main block or they also offered an on request shuttle service to the chalets. Food was mainly self service buffet style - but for desserts - but did thus suffer at times from some food not being as hot as it should be. Coffee was put out on tables in the morning regardless of when guests arrived, so again not often hot and more had to be requested; a waste especially when the whole region is so short of water. The food was generally good and with choices if not quite as high quality or as much detail as at smaller places we stayed. Our party's chalets were rather basic chalet en suite rooms with careless maintenance and extremely hot, only becoming comfortable well into the 2nd night. We wondered if they had not been occupied for some time and thus had needed one overnight + one evening before the a/c had any discernible effect. We could not open the glassed windows as there was no mosquito netting over them. The main bedroom cum sitting area looked out over the stunning view - especially from the veranda, but there were only thin curtains which did not keep the heat out as the sun crossed across them all day. They also did not keep the light out, though most visitors would be rising early for game viewing. Both front and veranda doors had anti-insect "draught excluders" but the front door one wasn't wide enough to cover the gap! There were also gaps around the window and door frames. The 2 single beds together formed a large comfortable bed under mosquito netting, though the nets did not meet behind the bedhead until we pulled the beds out to do this ourselves. Behind the bedhead was a part wall without a door which had the shower and wash basin area. This had 4 bright spotlights. As the larger bedroom area had a total of 6 lights so weak that we needed to use our torches for doing our hair or reading, it would have been better to divide the spotlights - we stayed in many lodges where there were spotlights high up in the ceiling. The basin was stylish but such a shallow wedge shape that it was difficult to use without soaking the surrounding area. The floor was wood planks, even under the wide rainshower head, and had warped, including a trapdoor, and made trip hazards. There was a separate wc and small basin with a good light. There were 2 suitcase racks, wardrobe with large safe, 2 tables, 1 with mirror and hairdryer and 1 with items for hot drinks. We are sorry that the accommodation section appears largely negative but that was our experience and not what what we expected for the price and company. We downrated the sleeping experience due to the heat.
"Lovely location for exploring Etosha...."
The Rooms, the staff and the facilities were lovely, the food was so good I need to go on a diet now for 2 months. We really enjoyed the stay here over new years eve, and the staff made it one of the most memorable NYE parties ever! Thanks for all the memories!!

Part of the Gondwana group, this consists of 65 brick built lodges. You can drive to your own front door (not always possible in these hotels/resorts). Rooms are comfortable and well equipped with tea and coffee facilities in the room and working ac! Good pool nearby. Dinner and breakfast here were excellent, service very good and friendly.
