"Very nice place with nicely decorated houses, great food and service & The Trans Kalahari walk is highly recommended!"

Very nice and welcoming upon check-in with a soft drink and coffee & cake. The house we got – Blue Wildbeest – was very nice with a very tasteful interior and layout of the patio … fancier to what we expected. The main building had a nice outdoor and pool area. The dinner was very good – 5 course – like a high class restaurant with a friendly staff. * Trans Kalahari Walk * (booked in advance) We were informed about the details for our trans Kalahari walk (day 2) by the tour guide and the management. We were told that we had to check-out from our Blue Wildbeest house for night 2 (during our Kalahari walk) as the lodge was fully booked. As compensation to this “inconvenience” we were promised their Superior house for night 3. We got our own private guide for the Trans Kalahari Walk … as we were the only people who did this activity. The guide David was very informative about the nature and animals. We got our breakfast bag at the lodge, after coffee & muffin, and started the walk before 7 am. After an hour or so we made a breakfast stop. We had a nice and easy walk along and between the dunes watching animals & birds. At noon we reached an open style lapa where the lunch already was prepared – very delicate and great! After the lunch and a rest we continued to walk for some hours to the Dunes Camp. Incredibly nice and pleasant with a pool, lounge area where soft drinks, coffee & tea, muffins incl. snacks were provided. There is also a waterhole at Dunes Camp. Our cabin was very great with every kind of high quality comfort … even out in the dunes. Before sunset the guide started up the fire and the “chef” arrived for starting up preparation for the dinner. Very good 3 course dinner! In the far distance we saw the mother-giraffe with her 4-days baby-giraffe – very good memory! After dinner we did a night hike searching for scorpions, with UV-light, and we found one  In the morning after a good and silent sleep we were served a good breakfast by the chef before a few hours walking back to the lodge. Upon arrival back at the lodge we got the keys to the Superior house. What a luxury and high class house with our own pool … yes, we spent the whole day at the poolside. The main waterhole of the lodge was also in front of the Superior house – could it be better? No! The Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge is marvelous and the Trans Kalahari Walk is not to be missed - fantastic!! A lifetime memory!

"Wow what a plac3"

What a warm welcome we received from the Manager and his wife. The place is stunningly located, has every comfort known to humankind and the care and attention taken to provide us with a most memorable stay is unsurpassable. Food was excellent, furnishings beautiful, we would return there very easily

"Nice but ......."

Nice lodge within a 2 hour road trip after picking up the vehicle after a long flight so it fitted in. The Lodge is very nice and its easy to fine from the main B1 road. Its expensive compared with other lodges we have stayed in but I feel the prices are inflated due to the location. Food was ok but as is it was Xmas Day they served a buffet meal which isn’t my preference especially for the cost.

"Good end of our tour, great chalet and luxury dune camp after walk"

   11-12-2017
Our very large lodging had the largest panorama window ever and looked out over the small plain with a waterhole. The room was extremely large with a spacious sitting area of 30 m2, an adjoining bedroom area of 18 m2, bathroom 9 m2, a terrace 9 m2, an outside shower and an outside thatched sitting area of 6 m2. All the bungalows have a slightly different design. Parking next door. We enjoyed the fat-tyre bicycle trip to the two windmills. The trees with the huge weaverbird nests are a special feature and very photo genetic, but there was hardly any game on this route. In front of the main lodge swimming pool there are some Elands who are fed in the dry season and come regularly to eat. A bad planning mix-up by their reservations department gave us stressed nerves, but was pleasantly resolved. The 6-hour red dune walk with lunch and staying in the separate luxury dune camp was excellent. A good variety of game to see, but on foot you do not get close. The dune camp accommodates 4 guests in two large rondawels. There is a spacious open dining and pool area, which we had to ourselves, being the only guests on the walk. I suggested a simple design for simple pool heating, because the water was ice cold. It would have been nice to sit and relax in the dip-pool while looking out over the plain and animals at the waterhole. Our walking guide David and Lucky the cook, who arrived at tea time, sleep a bit off-site to give guests plenty of privacy. Lucky made a superb BBQ dinner and breakfast. It’s a 1.5-hour easy walk back to the lodge. Departing the main hotel at 9 a.m., we just made it in time for our 17:00 hr flight as it is a good 3 hour’s drive to the airport and the car needed to be washed (minimum 1 hour) and tanked, before handing it in (also minimum 1 hour). Although checking in went quickly, there was a problem with the baggage scanners which caused a long delay. If all goes well, no problem, but still tight. Tip: have your car washed in Windhoek (Engen Petrol is along the route).

"a beautiful start to an amazing trip"

   13-10-2017
the first night of our road trip round namibia -and this was a beautiful start. A chalet from Out of Africa, very comfortable bed, great shower, all spotless. we were only there for one night so went on the sundowner drive. It might be because it was our very first but it was very good.our guide (Costa?) tried really hard to make sure we saw as much as we could-he was determined that we would see the giraffe which we did in the end thanks to hs determination-and nearly missed the sunset. to be honest the drink at sunset is nice but one is enough ! Food was good there too and staff all friendly. and wildlife just by the lodge to watch too.Could have spent several nights there!
