"One day was not enough"
We stayed at Greenfire for one night on October on our self-drive around Namibia. Of all the over a dozen lodges we stayed we liked Greenfire the best. The owners were very nice and have over 20,000 hectares cattle-free and they had a complimentary sundown drive looking for wild game. It was the only time we actually saw an Aardwolf. The food was fantastic and their South African chef was great. It's quiet, off the main road and there were 6 rooms. We were the only guests and it may have been somewhat different if it was full. Our only complaint is that we didn't stay 2 or 3 nights.
"Beautiful desert isolation and more "
We arrived early afternoon. We could not believe the sheer starkness and beauty of a six unit Lodge in the desert. The room, patio and bathroom was beyond comfortable. Once you adjust to the heat. The managers and staff are fabulous. The chef is quite talented and cooked us up fabulous food. The only thing lacking was the Desert tour in the afternoon, the guide was not that knowledgeable. Fabulous stay off the grid.
"A wonderful Oasis"
After a long dusty drive from Luderitz, it was so nice to be greeted with a warm welcome from hosts Sanet and Etienne and their staff. The location is simply breathtaking, and the lodge and accommodation is perfect. We just sat back relaxed and drank in the 'sounds of silence'. A welcome break from the road. We had a great sunset drive and were lucky enough to get close sightings of a family of giraffe. The meals were delicious home cooked with artistic passion by Chef Jack (the steak dinner was frankly the best meal we had in Namibia). All we can add is it is well worth adding Greenfire Desert Lodge to you itinerary.
"Romantic remote accommodation"
We had no idea what to expect but this place was really magical. We arrived late after a long drive and the proprietors were waiting for us, concerned. We were really taken care of but also had the place to ourselves for hours at a time. We took our small children - which was ok - but I'd love to come alone with my husband some time. The sky was stunning. The food was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this place. It is far from Soussesvlei so I would recommend making this your destination or stopping here for some nights on your way to or from Soussesvlei (rather than making this the place where you stay to visit Soussesvlei).
"Stayed in the campground area"
I came here with a tour and we stayed in the campsite area, not the lodge. The campground is more established in that there is a platform and wooden canopy for each tent. Bathroom is basic, cold water (to be expected for camping). There was a pool by the tent area, but no water in it when we were there, which was disappointing with the heat! The grounds themselves were wonderful. We went on a walk around the area, which offered great views. The game drive offered by the lodge was disappointing: Our driver would stop so far away each time that there was a distant animal sighting that they would be little specks and we never tried to drive a little closer, which is what all the other drivers on different game drives did. You should also be prepared that the only game you are going to see are things like different antelope, ostriches, foxes, etc. Staff was very friendly however, and overall a good experience and great stopover to break up our journey.
