Over Sossusvlei Desert Camp

"Nature at it's Finest."
The tented camps are very nice. The bathrooms are large. Rooms very clean. The views from the rooms are the main attraction. You can see wildlife right there. The view of the mountains at sunrise and sunset is stunning. There is a lovely pool. There is also a small bar with a TV. Wifi is spotty but that's normal for being in the middle of nowhere. Rooms could be hot mid day even with a fan. I would consider this room in between budget and mid-range.
"Great Place to stay, remember to ask for kitchen utensils."
We stayed one night at the desert camp. On arrival we checked in. Our tent was beautiful and clean. The outside kitchen was a very nice feature. When we had unpacked we noticed that there were no kitchen utensils or pots and pans. We went to the pool to cool down and asked on of the employees if we could perhaps borrow a pot to use for that night as we did not bring any with us on our trip. He was happy to help and I went with him to get a pot. What we did not realize was that you would actually rent or pay a refundable deposit to get a complete box of utensils and pots and pans. Just make sure to ask when you stay here. We found this area and where we stayed to be very commercial and the roads to Sesreim were very badly corrugated because of all the traffic. It was a very nice place but we personally prefer to be away from the hustle and bustle of people and traffic.
We stayed here two nights. The tents are beautiful, peaceful and allow for a great experience. It was very hot and the fan did not help at all, so keep that in mind. While this location is away from the main camp in Sossusvlei it is much quieter than the main camp. We had our meals at the main camp and the food was very good. The trip to the dunes was great, but go for the earlier morning outing. It was too late by the time we got there and far too hot. We did not know we would have to drive to the main camp for food, so keep that in mind if you are booking with one of the tent camps further out. It isn't that far, but you certainly can't walk there, which we were told we could do.
"Great place to stay "
We were at the desert camp in the last week of November and it was great ! We chose the DBB option which covers dinner and breakfast ( at the lodge) in addition to the bed (at the dune camp). It worked out perfectly . The dinner at the lodge is absolutely great with a whole bunch of options . They have three grills - for meat , vegetables and fish . Special shout out to the chefs to use different ladles and clean the stoves for us vegetarians! We chose the basket option for breakfast which I will highly recommend. The basket can collected at 530AM en route to the gate to wait in queue . The basket is by no means small and contains a lot of food - which also carried over to lunch ! The accommodation is also great . Quite, well spaced and great at nights ! Go out and see the stars at night . So awesome !!! The afternoon gets really hot and it helps to open the Windows and allow the winds in . Other Notes:The tours leave from the lodge and need to be booked a few hours an advance. Wifi is available on in the reception area . Lots of gemsbok roam the premises. The chalets also have a range and a fridge that is provided . The staff are pretty awesome too . Overall I would say this is definitely worth it . Close enough to the gates to get there well ahead in the queues and nothing to complain about .
Stayed 2 nights at a wonderful location. Experience tranquility with beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Chalets are comfortable and clean. Animals walk to waterhole within 50 meters of chalets. Very nice pool area and you can order your food requirements from nearby lodge, delivered at your doorstep. Enjoy a Southern African braai whilst watching a magic sunset.
