Over Sossusvlei Desert Camp

"One of the most beautiful sunsets ever"
The complex is in the midle of the desert, comprised by some tents very comfortable inside!!! Good shower, toilets, warm water, all the windows/doors have screens to avoid the million bugs to enter. It's surrounded by rocks, which made the sunset a beautiful scene. We witnessed a sand storm in one of the nights, it seemed our tent was going to fly (with us inside) but nothing happened, just close the window to avoid sand on your bed. It had wifi and a bar beside the pool.
"An Oasis in the Middle of the Gorgeous Desert"
I stayed at the Desert Quiver Camp last year when my mother visited and absolutely loved it - I felt the same way about Desert Camp during my stay there when my father visited in March. A bit more of a camping feel here than at the Quiver Camp, which we very much enjoyed, and the oryx who wanders around the grounds was such a special treat. He reminded us of a pet dog, sleeping in the shade of the tented sites and coming very close to our rooms to see what we were up to. The sky at night is absolutely incredible, and is only a 5 minute drive to the entrance of Sesriem where you check in to drive to Sossusvlei. There is no air-con, but the high power fans in the tents were enough for us to feel very comfortable at night, with the windows open for circulation. Dinner at the Sossusvlei Lodge (a 2 minute drive towards Sesriem) was incredible - a buffet style meal with local game meats, a huge salad bar and plenty of options. I would definitely come back to stay here again.
After an exhausting drive we arrived at the desert camp. It has about 10-20 tent houses all with shower, hot water, water flush toilet and pretty big rooms. Kitchen on the veranda. Very nice. Small pool and breakfast at the lodge - about 10 minutes drive. The dinner at the lodge is a must - amazing! Very nice and a special experience when you stay in Sossusvlei!
"the coolest pool in the Namib desert!"
Lovely setting, we arrived at this oasis after a long, hot, dusty drive from Swakopmund, and were delighted to find their small swimming pool had the coolest water temperature that we experienced on our entire trip. Rooms do get very hot and no air con, so the fan was as good as it got, but the setting made up for it. Didn't stay long enough to do the walk and explore more.
"We just loved Desert Camp"
After a long drive from Windhoek airport we arrived at Desert Camp aroun 19:00. Even though they state on the website that the reception is open only until 18:00, they were open and the staff was waiting for us. The check-in took only 5 minutes and we got the keys to our tents (or semi tents). As we are 4 we took 2 of these units. All the units are very clean with crispy white bed linens. The bathrooms are large and comfortable. As it was already dinner time we did not spend much time with exploring the tents, but we rather headed to the camp next door where our dinner was served. we took the breakfast and dinner option and it was a good decision. The dinners and the breakfasts were superb. Huge choice, nice presentations and at dinners we had a chance to try some of the games we could never try in Europe. They grilled all sorts of meats from Zebra to Oryx. The staff was averall very kind and helpful. On the 2nd afternoon we spent a little time at the pool in the shade, such a great treat after the hot morning in the desert, especially that the bar servis drinks at a very reasonable price. We enjoyed this place a lot. When we chose the accommodation, we tried to find something on the more budget side and we were a bit afraid that this is not going to be good at all. The contrary, Desert Camp is great and represents very good value at this part of Namibia.
