Over Swakopmund Guesthouse

"Comfortable and Convenient"
After a long day's drive, this lovely guesthouse was very welcome. Initially alarmed that we were to be accommodated in a separate wing, across the road, the result turned out to be ideally private. The rooms, set around a lovely courtyard with a small covered seating area, and hanging rattan chairs, were clean and very comfortable. Breakfast, served in a light and airy dining room - very 'beachy' - was elegant and delicious. Swakopmund Guesthouse is a brief walk to everything, including excellent restaurants, shops and the historical area of town. Thank you for a lovely stay.
"Modern, clean lines, relaxing "
We stayed here two nights. The rooms are very large and the bed and pillows very comfortable. The bathroom has two sinks and a pebble floor. All clean and in good order. My bed light and the light over the bathroom mirror were not working when we arrived, but were fixed the next morning. Breakfast was really good and included a great selection of breads, even pumpernickel. The cheese selection was the largest we've seen in Namibia. Everything is about a 5 minute walk away, including Kucki's pub, the centre of town, and one block further the seafront and the Tug and Jetty restaurants. All-in-all an excellent location and great place to stay.
"Comfortable and convenient"
Convenient location, in a quiet residential neighbourhood 10 minutes' walk from the town centre and from the beach. Just a couple of blocks from the main B2 road to/from Walvis bay. Parking is on street but the guest house employs a security guard to watch guests' vehicles at night. Check-in was a tedious affair. The lady at the desk insisted on laboriously writing the locations and names of (seemingly) every restaurant, bar and attraction in Swakopmund on a poorly-photocopied map of the town, and then went through exactly the same process for the couple checking in behind us before she would show us to our room. It was unnecessary, especially as we had a better map and better recommendations in our guide book. The room was spacious, comfortable and attractive, with a small outside space with table and chairs. There was tea and coffee, including good quality ground coffee and a cafetiere, and biscuits. The bathroom was a little on the Spartan side, but the shower was good and there was a wall heater for the chilly mornings. There was no air-conditioning, which might be an issue in the summer. There was free WiFi in the room but, as is usual in Namibia, the connection was slow and unreliable. Sometimes it was necessary to go to the reception area and connect to the different network there. Breakfast was very good, served in a lovely, bright breakfast room. The hot breakfast, cooked to order, was excellent and the fresh fruit salad the best we had in Namibia. There was a general lack of attention to minor detail, which lets down the property: the room had a well-stocked minibar but no price list; TV but no remote control; the used cafetiere was not washed or replaced when the room was serviced. Overall, we were happy with our choice and would stay at the Swakopmund Guest House again.
"Convenient place to stay"
Perfectly adequate guesthouse. Good breakfast. Clean and comfortable room. Easy to walk everywhere. Pleasant owner. Everything we needed for our one night stay after Skeleton Coast and before heading inland. Swakopmund is an unusual place.
"Great beds, friendly staff and fantastic shower"
This pleasant place had the comfiest beds of anywhere on our 2-month trip to Namibia and South Africa, plus the best shower too. We enjoyed our large room (5) with wonderfully comfy beds and its pebble-floored bathroom. We were made very welcome, and received good advice about the town and its amenities. Great breakfast variety on the buffet, plus eggs made to order. And just a few minutes' walk into town.
