Over The Lovina

Selamat Datang!

We arrived and were given our room later that afternoon, a deluxe suite that we had paid for. We are not in the business of asking for upgrades we are a firm believer of you get what you pay for. We certainly didn't ask for an upgrade and upon checking what my partner paid we certainly didn't get a complimentary upgrade that has been stated. It is indeed correct that we only stayed for two nights yet a bottle of wine was left for 3 days. This really is very simple maths. We had a bottle of wine on our first night and it was still there on our third day, two nights equals a three day stay. Housekeeping noted the bottle was still half full? The wine in question was rose. It certainly wasn't half full it was empty but even if this was the case who in their right mind would want to drink rose after it had been sat outside in 30 degrees plus temperatures? Being a "top class" hotel one would assume they would know rose is best served chilled. Dolphins certainly do not choose to participate, the boatmen are purposely invading their territory. In other countries you can actually go to jail for disturbing Dolphins. Let me educate you on what should happen if you see Dolphins. You should stay at least 100 metres away, you should not actively pursue them when they move away, engines should be put in neutral and Dolphins with their young should be avoided entirely. Now please tell me which of these rules does your experienced boatmen follow? The answer is none of them.

"Beautiful resort"

Loved this resort. Fabulous beach suite apartment, with everything you need. The view over the pool and beach is amazing. You can just sit on the balcony day and evening, and not tire of the view. So relaxing. The staff and garden surrounds perfect. The pool amazing. The restaurant provided us with fabulous meals. There is always music entertainment each night. We enjoyed the beach bar every sunset, the staff so much fun. We loved it so much, we have been there twice and will be back next may.

"Large resort in quite Lovina"

The resort is located a bit outside of Lovina but offers a complimentary shuttle service to the center and the restaurants. Also the pickup after dinner is included. Just ask the people at the restaurant to call the Lovina and the pickup will come a few minutes later. This is really great. The resort is quite large and offers rooms for every need. The pool is nice, directly at the beach, only the people trying to sell things at the beach are annoying. Breakfast is with many option, more than we saw at many places on our trip in Bali/Lombok, however this is still a step below the standard you get in Thailand or at larger Asian cities. The staff is professional and well-trained. Rooms are clean and in good condition. I have to especially mention Tri at the front desk who was very helpful in planning some trips and was always nice to talk to. So why only 4 points? Well, somehow I missed a bit a personal flavour and an own character in this hotel

I am flabbergasted by how well this place is reviewed. The room we stayed in was long and thin, a tiny bathroom - very disproportionate to the rest of the room, the bedroom area was an OK size then a random living area/ kitchenette? It was like staying in a budget aparthotel certainly not in keeping with the price we paid. Outside there is a 'plunge pool'. I cant really complain at the size, its tiny but a plunge pool after all. However we had a bottle of wine out the back on our first night, three days later the bottle and two glasses were still there. The food at the hotel is average at best, the breakfast was disgusting. I had scrambled eggs one morning which contained egg shells. The price you pay is not enough for a decent coffee to be included, have the local slosh or pay extra for a 'premium coffee'. Apparently Lovina has a fitness studio, I can only imagine this is a translation issue or a joke, my shed at the bottom of the guardroom is more in line with a fitness studio than this place. You could be forgiven for wondering why what I have put so far constitutes to a 'terrible' rating. Well this hotel provides Dolphin watching, an activity which admittedly played a large factor in choosing to visit Lovina. We were very naive and didn't read the reviews of this before we went otherwise we never would have gone. This hotel should be ashamed it provides such a program. Apparent 'professional boatmen' spend two hours every morning chasing Dolphins around every time they surface for air. This isn't just a couple of boats either there were over 80 boats on the day we went. I implore any member of staff to put on some scuba gear and experience the sensation of ONE boat travelling close above you whilst you are underwater never mind 80+. Combine this with how sensitive the hearing is of a Dolphin and you would realise how disgraceful it is to offer such an activity. There really is no reason to visit Lovina. The Dolphin tour should be banned, the beach is dirty and the food quality in the local restaurants is no where near the quality offered else where in Bali. Save your time and money and do a day visit to the waterfalls and skip the Dolphin tour. The best part about Lovina was the mountain road out of there.

I have been to Bali many times yet this was our first time to Lovina, we absolutely loved the resort, the staff were very well trained, friendly but not too in your face, the food was delicious & not too exy. We took advantage of the kayaks & snorkelling & borrowed the bikes to go riding through the villages. We also had a massage at the resort spa which was great, again the staff are very well trained. There is a free shuttle that takes you into town and you can get dropped off and picked up anytime you want, the town itself is still old style Bali but that's the beauty of Lovina as its still untouched. We also went to the waterfalls which reception arranged for us and they were amazing, well worth a visit & a very inexpensive day out, its the most relaxed I've ever felt in Bali and highly recommend this resort! We were lucky enough to say in the 4 bedroom villa which we shared with friends and would definitely recommend this option if you have a group.
