"Poor in comparison to other hotels in Sanur "

Me and my partner stayed here in June 2017 after spending June 2014 at the Puri Santrian, so we were always going to compare this hotel back to Puri and unfortunately it's no where near as nice despite being a similar price. The hotel just comes across a lot more 'budget' than Puri. For instance, breakfast was a shambles - it looks more like a staff canteen, food presented poorly and all the hot food was cold every single day. Selection was also much more limited - not even fresh orange juice, just juice poured from a carton. Sun beds are in dire need of replacement. They are all rusting and they don't have nice plush cushions like every other resort. This hotel also sits on a rougher, dirtier part of the beach vs Puri and much busier with locals trying to sell things. It also seems more aimed at families with lots of children around, not particularly quiet for couples. We still had a great time as we love Sanur as an area but when next returning we will definitely return to the Puri, it's a class above this place for the same price.

"A hotel of mixed perceptions"

A strange mix of really lovely facilities to those that desperately need upgrading. My guess is that it depends on your budget if you stay here. So we were first booked into a deluxe room, which was what I was expecting. However I was a bit shocked at its location. It was tucked behind the pergola where the Balinese guy is forever trying to sell you trips. It felt like an underground bunker. Once inside admittedly the room was quite nice, although I had hoped for a double bed not two singles and furniture was a bit shabby. I read later that the rooms had been upgraded and certainly there were fresh new toilets and showers, no bath. The outdoor area was small but pleasant although closed in. I did send an email to my Travel agent and an upgrade to a bungalow room was given without charge. The was in a nicer part of the hotel with beautiful gardens so if you have the budget go for the bungalow rooms . The outdoor lounge areas are at the bottom with the room itself upstairs, it did have my much wanted bathroom and was bigger. The grounds around reception and the first swimming pool are lovely and peaceful, there are some beautiful pergolas to sit in and read . There is a bar jacuzzi which we didn't use but seemed popular. Then came the shabby element again, sun beds that despite Balinese trying to Brillo off the rust it was still there. An infinity pool which looked dull although many people used it. The breakfast area is completely chaotic and again shabby, it needs a face lift. The breakfast was fine, with a reasonable choice. The club and beach bars were better and often pleasantly busy.Afternoon tea was a bonus. We chose to eat at other hotels but the Japanese restaurant on site was really really good.

"A bumpy start but enjoyed our stay"

I thought I had booked family bungalow for three ladies however on arrival found that I had booked bungalow (my mistake) They could upgrade us but the cost per night was more than double so we opted for extra bed at 420,000rp per night (total for bungalow with extra bed was AUD$240 including three breakfasts). Only problem was when we got to the room there was a double bed and extra bed. I enquired at reception and they said they had twin room but it needed to be cleaned, but would show it to me. It was at the back of a bungalow facing a walled garden, with water fountain, koi pond. Downstairs was large bamboo lounge and coffee table with marigolds as centrepiece. Upstairs was small but nice room with twin beds close together. With extra bed it was a squeeze, thank heavens for the downstairs lounge. In saying that there was room to lay out three suitcases and it had everything you need including insect repellent. There was two pools, we opted for the main pool which had sun lounges sitting in a moat of water around and infinity edge pool, just lovely. Some people had drinks but we weren't offered any, scant poolside service. Food at the Birdcage was a little on expensive side, about 70,000 for cheese tomato sandwich, beer only by the glass at 47,000. What they served was nice and fresh, they have bakery there. At night they had someone making crepes served in cones, someone had one and they looked nice but we stood around waiting for someone to serve us but no one came. A Nutella and banana was 32,000. We opted for bakery fruit mini tartlets 18,000 and small scoops of gelato at 18,000. The first night here was private function on beachfront, a section was closed off and there was band playing. We opted for walk along walkway and had drinks, dinner at Tundung Sari, they have Balinese music and dance on the beachfront, lovely setting were they had Asian Food Market set up with five stalls, one doing soups, another satay so, another appetisers, sweets etc. a nice walk back to the hotel through the most amazing grounds, the paths, water features and fountains are lit up at night, makes for lovely walk through the gardens. We hired bikes from the hotel for 50,000 per day each, it was Sunday and very busy with locals enjoying breakfast on the beach and walking swimming, lovely to see. We had to get off and push bikes quite a few times as there are barriers across the path that only walkers can get through and lots of foot traffic. It was lovely thing to do. We highly recommend Luhtu's Coffee shop on the beach path next door to Segara, freshest brown bread sandwiches, amazing Illy iced coffees, large Bingtangs 35,000. We didn't use the spa at Segara, they offered us two massages at 400,000 but Ayu Spa on beach path offers one hour for 90,000. I had excellent massage with Rai, was so happy I booked Hair Cream bath following day at 120,000. My sister tried to book her the following day but she was fully booked. All in all they hotel offers a nice room/setting, great location right on the beach with beautiful grounds.

Pros: Rooms were great. We had a family room that was really nice and comfortable Gardens and swimming pool were great. Staff were very nice and friendly Right on the beach and the area is very quiet. Cons: Breakfast. Disorganised. No one to show you to your table hence tables of 4 had 2 people on them. Too crowed. The breakfast was ordinary with limited choices. The breakfast area appears an afterthought. The nothern end of Sanur is less busy and therefore most decent restaurants are a tax ride away. Depends what you are after. The spa was expensive and my wife thought they didn't do a good job on her nails. Overall a nice hotel but a few things let it down. We just didn't get the feeling we loved it here.

"A nice and clean hotel with really friendly staff and leaving in a fantastic garden"

The garden is really fantastic and that gardening is something important for a Balinese is no doubt about after visit this hotel. We rented a bungalow apartment what was really nice (modern, clean, enough place for us, excellent AC). The wifi system is covering well over the area but the performance is not particular good and it seems that they need to make it to ONE solution instead of a number of different wifi zones with same login. The breakfast seems more adopted to Asia however the girl making all types of eggs and omelette's really gave the breakfast a plus even for an European The restaurant (in fact two that cooperate with two different kitchen) did serve excellent food and to a good prices however the really had an issue with timing meaning to serve food to us at the same time (particular if you selected dishes that come from the two different kitchens). We also used the hotels partner arranging tours that we really can recommend (a full day with own guide and a car with chauffeur, we paid for two persons about 1 Million IRS exclude lunch) We can for sure recommend this hotel for others
